Inspired by your Drarry fic recs and your amazing Flintwood fic, do you have any Flintwood recs or personal favorites?
ah! fantastic ask, anon! flintwood was, incidentally, my earliest hp ship & maintains a soft spot after all these years. their functions in canon (quidditch captains of rival houses, pinnacles of a certain kind of obsessive, single-minded, aggressive athletic masculinity) conduce some of the most raw and gritty characterisations— kind of like if tracing your tongue along the jagged, broken end of a tooth was a ship. flintwood encapsulates a very specific kind of mood— a foregrounded physicality, a delicious emotional dimension balancing both subtlety and brashness. this ship is especially delightful when you're in the mood for some deferred emotional payoff, a little out of reach and more satisfying for it.
(tw for some discussions of queerphobia & masculinity!)
flintwood also works with and subverts some common stereotypes & tropes associated with sports as a site of exalted & amplified masculinity. oliver and marcus are both, in fic, often representations of what a popular (largely homophobic & patriarchal) culture understands as 'masculine ideal stereotypes'— physically hulking, emotionally repressed, narrow-focused, a little dangerous. and flintwood, as a ship, is crucially also about these 'ideal men' making the choice to step away from the hallowed halls of homosociality towards explicit queer desire, dynamics and love.
i'm getting into this because a large selection of flintwood fics i've loved deal (overtly or covertly) with coming to terms with queer awakenings, reckoning with being queer men in sports and similar explorations. my flintwood fic (thank you for reading it, anon!), addictive tendencies (~4k, T, tw for internalised homophobia) also grapples with this fairly significantly. in fact, even when the central tension isn’t explicitly about a queer reckoning, and the worldbuilding has little/no queerphobia, many excellent flintwood fics have some of the themes, ideas and tropes you find in literature accounting for our society’s (often disparaging) attitude towards queerness: a desire both intense and grudging, a sense of “i can’t have this person” justified through rivalry and/or jealousy, poignant internal conflicts, etc.
anyway, enough talk, here's a selection of flintwood fics i've dearly enjoyed, hope you do too! mind the tags & notes & remember to send some love the authors' way :)

Slytherin Quidditch Team's wands
It got kinda long... But I haven't written shit in so long do maybe that's better
Terence Higgs - Phoenix feather core, cedar wood
Terence had spent nearly an hour at Ollivander's, trying out different wands before finding the right one. And after his first months at Hogwarts, he sincerely doubted that this wand was really the right one.
Phoenix feather wands have a strong self-initiative and are the hardest to tame. At first, the wand often disobeyed him, but the more he used it, the better they worked together. Both phoenix feather core and cedarwood are highly loyal. I really like the idea of wands matching the character of the wizard, and Terence is extremely loyal to his loved ones and, despite his generally nice nature, is very tenacious and unforgiving. Ollivander's grandfather used to say that you couldn't fool a person with a wand made of cedar, because the tree chose wizards who were perceptive and observant.
Although the beginnings were difficult, with each passing year Terence became better and more in tune with his wand. After a few years, it was debatable whether Terence's wand was more loyal to him or he was to his wand. Also, he takes great care of his belongings and handles them extremely carefully so his wand was in perfect condition for years, serving him for his whole life
Marcus Flint - Dragon heartstring core (antipodean opaleye), hornbeam wood
To quote the Harry Potter wiki's description of the hornbeam, it "selects for its life mate the talented witch or wizard with a single, pure passion, which some might call obsession." Yeah, I think that's pretty self-explanatory.
However, another property of hornbeam is more interesting. These wands were incredibly customizable, literally taking over their owner's moral rules. In the hands of another person, they became useless, as well as when someone tried to do something inconsistent with their owner. I think it's very fitting considering Marcus' family. You know, a noble bloodline house where there are rules that Marcus doesn't agree with and individualism is killed. Flint's wand emphasized being himself and kept him from turning away from his ideals in difficult times. Marcus' parents often took his wand away as punishment, but the wand literally protested, wouldn't let anyone else use it, and when his father tried to force Marcus to do something against him, it would reflect the spells at his father. Marcus became very attached to his wand, which was really powerful in his hands.
Once, Marcus' father, upset, wanted to force him to buy a new wand. Marcus couldn't imagine using another, and to dissuade his father from the idea, he began to convince him that this wand had chosen him, the other would be less suited and would be even worse at magic. Marcus was not the sharpest tool in the shed in school, which was a huge complex for him at the time, adding to his already big self-loathing. However, Marcus was ready to say out loud that he's a shit wizard if there was a chance it would allow him to keep his wand.
The core was from the heart of the antipodean opaleye, a beautiful dragon from New Zealand, which despite its size is quite gentle and does not attack unless it has to
Cassius Warrington - Dragon heartstring core (Ukrainian ironbelly), yew wood
Cassius bought his wand in Bulgaria. In Britain, his combination was not popular. Yew wood had a bad reputation, it was said to attract bad luck and black magic. Little Cass did not understand why such a wand had chosen him, but a few years later he found that he and the wand fit together - Cassius was very unsuperstitious, often looking for trouble for fun, walking under every ladder, petting every black cat. It just amused him how much people, both wizards and muggles, cared about such nonsense. No one could explain how a given superstition would work, but just in case they subordinated their lives to it. So yes, Cass and yew wood went well together.
The wand was also powerful, both the yew and the dragon heartstring had a lot of strength and choses wizards with desire to be great. The dragon heartstring in Cassius's wand came from the Ukrainian ironbelly - the largest dragon, one of the more aggressive and dangerous. As the name suggests, they occurred mainly in Ukraine, which made them more popular in Bulgaria than in Great Britain.
The yew wand buried with the wizard sprouted and guarded the owner's grave, I wanted to mention it because I find it very edgy and romantic at the same time
Peregrine Derrick - Unicorn hair core, hawthorn wood
Hawthorn wands were chaotic. Great both for healing magic, preferred by Derrick, after Hogwarts he became a magimedic after all, but also perfect for curses. The problem was that hawthorn wands often reflected carelessly thrown spells back at the owner.
At first, Perry suffered a lot trying to learn the rules and how the wand works. Only after some time did he understand that there are no rules that he can learn, and he just has to accept acting in chaos. Derrick himself worked best in chaos anyway, he and the wand fit together, it chose him for a reason. Perry always had a mess in which only he could find his way, he focused best and worked in noise. He was from a large family, it was never quiet in his house, so he felt uncomfortable in silence and could not concentrate. He did fifteen things at once, and surprisingly they all turned out better than if he had done them separately (then he probably wouldn't have done half of them).
After some time, Derrick learned to cooperate with the wand and became attached to it, even when it did not always want to act as it should in class when it was required of him. The wand, however, worked perfectly at work. Derrick became a medic at St. Mungo's, and both hawthorn and unicorn hair support healing magic. Derrick and the wand have gotten along great over the years. Perry was close to tears when the core of his wand died and he had to have it repaired. Without it, he felt like he was missing a part of himself, even though he was given a replacement wand and was free to use magic
Lucian Bole - Thestral tail hair core, apple wood
When little Luke heard what the core of the wand that chose him was, he turned pale. As a child, Lucian witnessed a group of strangers crash while flying on a flying carpet, and some drunk passengers ended up falling from a great high which caused death. This obviously affected Luke hard, who from then on preferred muggle ways of transport and was able to see thestrals. So when he heard that his wand had a thestral hair core, he thought it was an unfunny joke, reminding him of his trauma.
Ollivander didn't quite understand the boy's reaction. Indeed, quite a few wizards believed that thestrals were bad luck, but he hadn't expected such superstition from an eleven-year-old. Despite everything, he tried to reassure Luke, explaining to him that many adventures and journeys awaited him because such people were chosen by wands with a Thestral hair core. This piqued Lucian's interest, and he started asking Ollivander about the various wand specs (perhaps the days before the start of the school year when the traffic is incredibly busy is not the best time for such conversations, but Ollivander couldn't let go of educating the kid who was so eager to listen). Lucian was very happy to hear that the apple tree chooses likeable people, leaders with personal charm. Ollivander made Luke promise on a small finger that he would do his best at school and educate himself because apparently, the wand sees in him the ability to achieve great goals and openness to the world.
Lucian actually traveled a lot, he was passionate about getting to know different people and cultures. He also had a strong interest in the muggle world, eventually attending a muggle university. After a lesson in Care of Magical Creatures, he also became more fond of thestrals, seeing that despite their bad press, they are intelligent and gentle
Adrian Pucey - Unicorn hair core, willow wood
Adrian quickly found his wand. To be honest, he wasn't interested in its characteristics, preferring to go shopping instead of reading the description of his wand. His wand worked great from the start, the core of unicorn tail hair was consistent and loyal, it fitted Adrian quickly, and was a great tool.
Adrian had learned more about the characteristics of his wand in a fourth-year Charms class when Flitwick was ill and Binns was teaching instead. The historian wanted to combine their subjects and make a more theoretical lesson about the history of wands and their characteristics. Adrian read the description of his wand core, nodded, matching. He also made a mental note for the future that the hair sometimes needed replacing.
Then he read the description of the willowwood. He read the last sentence of the description and felt personally attacked. "The owner of such a wand was often insecure." Exposed by your own wand. Adrian has indeed always been insecure. This demotivated Adrian a bit in his fight with overthinking and complexes, because he thought that it must have been innate then, if the wand, choosing him as an eleven-year-old, had already noticed it.
During the summer, Lucian forcibly dragged him to Ollivander's shop to explain to him that wands, like the Sorting Hat, see potential and possibilities, but we create who we are. A wizard may have the most powerful wand, but that does not mean that he will be the most powerful, only that with his own work and the right conditions he can be powerful. Luke kept telling Adrian this, but he could see that he wasn't taking it seriously, that he needed an expert (also a stranger who wouldn't really care about him) to tell him that
Graham Montage - Thunderbird tail feather core, ebony wood
Graham had barely entered Ollivander's shop when the wand literally flew towards him and hit him in the chest. Ollivander, genuinely surprised, only commented "I hope you're here for the wand, young man, because this wand wants to be with you very much."
The wand was imported from America. Ollivander struck a deal with the American wand maker Aleshanee Wolfe, a relative of Shikoba Wolfe, so that he had some of her wands for sale and she had some of his wands for sale. This was for mutual promotion in new regions. Still, Ollivander wasn't particularly happy that a wand he hadn't created, had chosen Graham, but there was no denying that they were a perfect match when the wand reacted that way.
The wand, both core and wood, was great for transfiguration, which Graham was a genius at (I have to get my shit together and write a headcanon about Graham and transfiguration). Montague had learned this from Professor McGonagall, who had quickly noticed his great potential and deliberately asked about his wand characteristics to see if the wand that had chosen him also wanted to highlight the boy's Transfiguration abilities. Years later, when Graham had grown to be the best student McGonagall had taught, in conversation Montague mentioned the history of buying a wand, and McGonnagal merely nodded unsuprised.
Graham learned the other features of the wand, just like Adrian, in Charms class with Binns. His ego was greatly flattered when he read that he apparently knows who he is, is steadfast in his beliefs, and does not change under the influence of his surroundings. The wand was difficult to master and tenacious, but that was what made them fit together so well. Graham, stubborn and steadfast, was just the one who was able to master this wand and use it perfectly
Miles Bletchley - Veela hair core, black walnut wood
Miles's shopping at Ollivander's went fairly quickly. Ollivander offered him several wands, and Miles didn't know how he should feel to know that wand was the right one. However, as soon as he picked up this one, he felt that even a simple wave of this wand would be what he was looking for.
Already at Hogwarts, he himself went to Flitwick to ask if he knew about the characteristics of wands, because he had a few questions. Black Walnut is characterized by forcing the wizard to be honest with themself. It dramatically lost power when the owner lied to themself and was dishonest. This suited Miles, who was very boldly seeking himself and reaching for various forms of expression. In the 1990s, he openly painted his nails, used makeup, and wore women's clothes, he never restrained himself from expressing his opinion, he did not act more posh and polite than he was, he did not analyze what would benefit him. After learning about this feature of his wand from Flitwick, back in his 2nd year, he felt more motivated to be himself. He was a kid who had different visions of who he wanted to be but was afraid to try and experiment in fear of being judged by others. However, his own wand motivated him to seek himself and become who he is.
On the other hand, the hair of the veela could be capricious when the wand was not properly cared for and handled roughly and without respect. However, when treated well, in the hands of the right person, it was consistent and subtle, yet powerful. So yeah, Miles' wand was really demanding and high-maintenance
Also, I didnt reread it for correction, sorry. And life update. I worked in call center for 3 months (I would never manipulate someone into contract btw, I made everything crystal clear and none of my clients had any complains) and now I finally have some holidays, idk how it is in other countries but in Poland university year starts in October instead of September. So yeah, i'm going for short vacation now, then I will have to sort and buy and pack my things because im moving out of my family house to another city for uni

Oblivious Harry Potter
I believe so many things could canonically happen and we wouldn't know just because Harry is not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to noticing things
Remus and Sirius kissed after sorting all that shit in Shrieking Shack. Harry thought they must have really missed each other
Dean and Seamus have been in love since like- forever and started dating in their 6th year. Harry thought they were besties (he started questioning why he and Ron aren't like that)
Oliver and Marcus were fucking in the locker room after every quidditch match. Harry thought they were fist-fighting and didn't want to get involved

Slytherin Quidditch Team Captain Marcus Flint
Aka Marcus' history of playing Quidditch (and teeny tiny flintwood ok)
Marcus loved Quidditch since he can remember. His parents were opposed to him wasting time by playing dumb sports but it motivated Marcus a lot so they started using it. You know, if he did great in homeschooling, he could have played. If he went to a banquet and behaved, he could have gone to a Quidditch game. He was a huge Montrose Magpies fan since he was 5.
Terence gave him a little figurine for his 9th bday (it was the day Marcus first considered him his best friend) like those which shake heads but it was a Quidditch player on a broom, shaking on a stand like it was flying. Later they painted it together so it was dressed in a Montrose tee
***
After he went to Hogwarts, he knew he would be playing his house team and was mad he couldn't take part in tryouts in his first year. Marcus and Terence participated in the tryouts next year. Marcus made it to the first team and Terence to reserve.
The third and fourth years were the absolute worst for Marcus. He struggled with his self-esteem, the relationship with his parents was getting worse and worse, he was doing badly at school. Most of his self-validation came from Quidditch's successes. It was also a peak at his hatred towards Wood. He saw Wood as the better version of himself, good at quidditch but also handsome, liked by everyone, at least average student. And Wood was a great rival but back then Marcus didn't respect that, he was losing against Wood which stole the only crumbs of self-validation he had. It was easier to direct that hate to Wood instead of admitting he hate himself.
***
Marcus became the captain in his 5th year. He was getting better mentally and it was huge for him as well, he felt appreciated, actually good at something. Marcus made a fucking revolution in the team. The last captain kept his players and friends even if they were worse. It made Marcus furious and he argued about that multiple times to the point he was benched. He wasn't selected by the last captain to take on his role, Snape chose him.
Marcus held tryouts even for occupied positions, arguing they shouldn't be worried if they were so good. Montague, Derrick, and Adrian made it to the first team, Lucian had been on reserve before and promoted. Cass stayed in the reserve team and Miles was added to it. Basically whole-ass revolution. The only players that stayed were Terence as a seeker, the keeper who ended Hogwarts a year later and was replaced with Miles, and Marcus obviously.
The Team started existing and ruining rivals' dreams.
Marcus was in his 6th year when Falmouth Falcons contacted him with a possible offer. It was also a year he started respecting Wood. Sixteen years old Marcus' self-esteem was almost good and he didn't hate himself anymore. It affected his opinion of Wood. Marcus became glad that Wood was there. Great rival meant great challenges and skill development to be better than him. But also, Marcus felt like Oliver would understand him. They didn't talk at all but Flint thought they were really similar with their ambitions and passion. Wood would understand the sacrifices Marcus made for Quidditch because he did the same.
In his 7th year, Montrose Magpies contacted him. It would be a dream come true for little Marcus but 17 yo Marcus panicked. He knew he should feel happy and fulfilled but what he felt were anxiety and doubts. He wasn't sure if that's what he wants to dedicate his life to. He was afraid of sacrifices, injuries and lifestyle that came with a quidditch career. But mostly, losing that pure happiness from playing. And he wouldn't want to life without it.
When he failed his Potions exam a lot happened. Getting disowned and kicked out of the home, repeating his 7th year... Marcus had more time to think about it all. He became sure he wouldn't start a quidditch career. One day, Oliver Wood started randomly screaming at him. He genuinely didn't know what's going on, his relationship with Wood got better, he didn't remember doing anything that could anger the guy. "What the bloody fuck you mean you won't go professional?! It was supposed to be me versus you, against each other in England Cup".
Marcus had no idea how that information got to Wood but he found himself smiling at the outburst.
"Oh, you want me in your future, Ollie?"
Oliver got all red but didn't answer this, instead, he continued screaming.
"I am sure you did have at least one offer, what's wrong with you?!"
"You're sure? Why?" If Oliver didn't answer him, he didn't have to do it as well.
Oliver suddenly stopped in his movement.
"Because you're great, you know this, right? " he furrowed his eyebrows "There's not a chance no one contacted you."
Marcus was taken aback. His relationship with Wood did get better but he didn't expect compliments.
"Thank you" he stopped for a second but added "Oliver, you better kick some asses in the league. In a few years I want to be able to brag about scoring against the big star Oliver Wood, yeah?"
***
Marcus settled in muggle London. Got his shit together, started working in a tattoo studio, finally asked Oliver Wood out, still loved Quidditch, played a lot for fun, and watched most of the matches. He cheered his boyfriend during all his matches other than those against Montrose Magpies.
And life was good.
Life update, I did find a work. It's my first week now so I still don't really know how I feel about it and if I actually am capable of doing this shit. But life is life, nothing I can't handle and if it is something I can't handle that's okay, worst think that can happen is getting kicked out

Slytherin Quidditch Team jobs after Hogwarts
🔥Terence Higgs🔥
After graduation, he started working at the White Wywern as a bartender. He felt in the right place and his boss joked that they have never sold so many drinks before, because let's be real, who would say no to him? But it's obviously not a job for whole life. He was 26 when he changed his job and started working at Gringotts Wizarding Bank. He works in London, magical artifacts are sent to him and he's role is to discover their origin, history, and the way they work, as well as the function of the magic enchanted in them
⚡Marcus Flint⚡
Ha had offers from professional Quidditch teams but, surprisingly, didn't want to go professional. Being a professional player comes with many sacrifices and obligations. Marcus was afraid he would lose this pure happiness from playing due to the required lifestyle. Also, it's easy to get injured badly which can end one's career and affect the rest of the life. It wasn't an easy decision for him to make, he loves Quidditch and it was his dream for many years. He started working as a tattoo artist in a studio in Knockturn Alley. After the war, he started doing cover-up tattoos for the dark mark, using magical ink. Marcus was raised in a toxic pure-blood family but he has friends who helped him saw that bullshit and became a better person. However, he knows not everyone was so lucky and he understood what might lead them to the dark path. He was more than happy to help them to leave the past behind and become a better person
💀Cassius Warrington💀
Cass back in his Hogwarts years loved piercing and did his and his friends' ones. Obviously, they were completely unprofessional, done with a needle in the dormitory, but let's be real, we all were there. After Hogwarts, he started doing it seriously and professionally, in sterilized conditions, and started doing stick and poke tattoos. He bought the tattoo studio, the same one Flint worked at, so technically, he was Marcus' boss. Cass often calls him "captain" and Flint always answers with "boss". They remake the whole studio design. Flint specialized in tattoos and Warrington in piercing and small stick and poke designs
♦️Peregrine Derrick♦️
He worked his ass off during 7th year to persuade his dreams of becoming a healer at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Man passed 6 N.E.W.T.s with the best grades to be able to do so. Learning about magical creatures was interesting, not easy but he actually liked that so studying wasn't that hard and tiring for him. Transmutation on the other hand... He was lucky Montague is a transmutation genius and helped him a lot. Considering his love for magical creatures, it's not a surprise he decided to specialize in treatment for creature-induced injuries. Working in St Mungo's allowed him to see extremely rare cases. Obviously, his main goal is always to help his patient but he can't help but be interested in those creatures and the incidents that happened. Man lost all his hope in humans, hearing the stories and reasoning behind their actions. Amount of people sure that this random creature classified as impossible to domesticate would love them and make them the exception in their killing spree is amazing
🌱Lucian Bole🌱
He decided what he wants to do in life during the holidays, before his 7th year. It required exams from muggle subjects he didn't know shit about (wowie, ending education in muggle subjects at the age of 11) so he started learning them during his 7th year and took a year off after Hogwarts. He passed exams and started studying at a muggle university to become a dietitian and personal trainer. Luke accommodated himself in the muggle world quite well, found muggle friends and girlfriend, and lived his best student life. After uni, Lucian started working with wizard sportsmen but mostly like, solo-athletes instead of Quidditch players or teams (why the fuck wizards don't have more sports, controversial opinion but Quidditch is bloody boring)
🌻Adrian Pucey🌻
Adrian despite his good grades, overall the best from the whole Team, he didn't want to sit by the desk for 8 hours in ministry. After graduating, he started working at Madam Malkin's. At first, he thought of it as a temporary job to do something while he would try to find the job of his dreams. But he found his place at Madam Malkin's. Adrian loved watching kids excited about starting Hogwarts, nervous wizards looking for good clothes for a date, fiancees looking for perfect outfits for their perfect day. He fell in love with being able to help them. Adrian changed Madam Malkin's a lot, making it a very size-inclusive, body-positive place (to Adrian, who struggled a lot with self-esteem and his body image, it was incredibly important). He even started a second-hand department in the shop with cheap, used and renewed clothes
🕸️Graham Montague🕸️
QUIDDITCH! He was the one and only to go professional. He was the youngest player at Hogwarts in their times to receive an offer – he was 15 when Falmouth Falcons contacted him. But he wanted to finish Hogwarts first and more teams reached out to him. Graham decided to sign a contract with Ballycastle Bats. At first, he was reserve obviously, but the first-team chaser got injured at the end of the season so he got to play. He did well and made an impression good enough to receive his chance as a first-team chaser next season. He played for them for four years. During 4th season he got injured badly and had to end his career. But his team didn't leave him and Montague became coach helper and after a few years, when the coach retired, he was promoted to main coach.
🌸Miles Bletchley🌸
After Hogwarts Miles started working at Madam Malkin's with Adrian to have a stable source of money. In his free time, he wrote articles for Daily Prophet, getting paid for articles, not hours. Miles started writing stories when he was twelve and found a passion, he wanted to base his life on. After some time, his essays gained popularity and respect among editors. Miles got a work offer for 8 hours daily, with hourly pay, and changed jobs. After the war, he was promoted to main editor and fought with tons of bullshit articles like LOOK WHAT HARRY POTTER WORE (in polish we say it's fighting the treadmills, like in Don Kichot, to fight a meaningless war that can't end with success, idk if there's an english idiom for that). His main goal, which was more likely to have a positive outcome, was to clearly sort news from gossips.
Not me making job headcanons because I'm looking for a summer job and it's the only thing I can think about
Btw I finished high school and my exams, now wait for the results (7th of July, two days before my bday, don't they dare ruined it). I was scared for my advanced polish exam (the "only" task is to write an essay which makes the topic really important u know, get a topic you don't know shit about and you're screwed). But topics (you have 2 to pick from) were awesome, almost everyone, including me, wrote "functions of mixing the realistic and fantastic conventions", the second one was also cool, sth about using elements from mythology and Bible in works from different centuries but it imposed the use of book that no one likes
Idk it got kinda long

A random idea so I will be more motivated to actually write this
Tw mentioned panic attacks
Quidditch fest between different schools from all around the world (not only Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons) where each school has to make one team so it's obviously made with people from different houses
Marcus and Oliver are both captains because everyone at Hogwarts was too afraid to pick one and fight with the other one. They discuss tactics and players, and it's just fucking hard to say "we should take Harry as a seeker, his better than my player".
The competition takes place in a random field so they all sleep in tents and McGonnagal (she would totally be the one to go as a teacher, c'mon, she loves Quidditch) is sure someone is trying to end the world by sorting those tents because (obviously) Flint and Wood have a tent together
But during the first night, Oliver wakes up screaming, on a verge of a panic attack because of a nightmare. It obviously wakes Marcus up but he's lovely and caring. C'mon, he is a human being and no matter what he thinks of Wood, he feels like he should help him. Flint knows some grounding methods because Derrick and Adrian struggle with panic attacks so they all learnt grounding methods to be able to help them. After some time when Oliver calms down (like, eg regulates his breathing), he's afraid of going back to sleep and they end up cuddling because like, Marcus noticed physical contact calms Oliver. Wood gets to sleep well, dreamless for the rest of the night and they get woke up by Adrian and Graham bursting into their tent while they're cuddling sleepily. Oliver is freaked out and afraid he made Flint do this against his will and that he might say something. But Marcus doesn't give a fuck about cuddling and he just asks how is he feeling and if he prefers to go to breakfast or eat there because Flint can bring him something. (he chooses the second option, and Marcus has to explain to McGonnagal why Wood's not there, and he calls him Ollie, softly, and they eat together in their tent)
For the whole event, they are their usual selves, u know, obsessed with Quidditch and arguing and overtraining. But after all, they did great as a team and while they always respected each other as players after that they also understand how awesome they can be while working together and not against each other.
And every night they cuddle (at first, Oliver lies to himself that he's doing this to prevent nightmares, after some days he accepts he just likes being hugged by Marcus Flint) and never talk about this during the day
I didn't reread that so sorry for any stupid mistakes. I will try to write that after my final exams. Two done, 6 more to slay (basic english was disgustingly easy, basic polish takes 4 fucking hours but I think I did great, I have basic math tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed)

@suckerforhucey (why tf wont it tag) reminded me of three posts "things I've written but wouldn't post" in 2020 so here I am guys
Hucey edition (and a little Flintwood ok)
1) whole two thousand words one shot where Adrian is writing a letter to Terence, looking back at their relationship. Its actually not bad but I'm too lazy to translate it (and too busy atm, I have my final exams in a week), actually here, have a piece (background info, Montague convinced Adrian to ask Terence out)
"After hearing your answer, I didn't know what sounded better — ripping your head off or maybe my own."
Adrian also considered the option of beheading Montague."
2) "If you wanted to make Terence Higgs do something, all you had to do was be his two years younger friend; when Adrian asked for something, Terence simply did it, because he couldn't say no to him at all. This was the object of mockery, but purely friendly, from Marcus Flint, who bravely and stubbornly claimed that he could not imagine being wrapped like that around someone's finger while chasing after Wood like Tramp from muggle animation. The captain of the Slytherin team even let the gryffindor beat him in Quidditch sparrings and that means a lot"
3) Flint was notorious for coming into their room, while Terence was sitting with Adrian, covering his eyes to "not disturb whatever the lovers were doing there." This happened so often that Higgs had already developed a standard answer. Every time he answered with: "if we wanted to have sex here, firstly, we would lock the door and secondly, we would do it on your bed"
4) "Even if you're annoying, mean, rude and you poison my life, I missed you"
~ Oliver Wood, to Marcus Flint

Really random nice Marcus piece
Because it's this blog's 3rd bday and I thought I should post something
It wasn't the best day for Marcus. He slept in and didn't eat any breakfast. He was hungry, his head started pounding because of it and he couldn't take his ADHD meds on empty stomach.
After his second lesson, he finally had a longer break. He automatically headed to the kitchens. Marcus tickled the pear and entered.
"Good morning" he greeted with elves "Sorry for being a burden, but could you make me something to eat? I didn't eat breakfast".
Marcus felt awful for adding more work to the house elves who were always busy, even without his stupid breakfast. He learnt to really appreciate their work and be grateful even though his parents always said they were slaves made for that.
"Of course, Marcus sir" elves answered in agreement "What would you like?"
"Something fast, a sandwich would be good, don't want to waste your time".
They started working and Marcus went further into the kitchen and found Oliver Wood, sitting calmly on the floor.
"Oh, hey, Wood" Flint muttered, feeling too bad for any teasing.
Wood looked surprised. He needed some time alone from the crowd and he always found kitchens calming in its mechanical business.
Marcus sat next to him.
"You look bad, man" Oliver said unsurely.
It made Flint laugh dryly.
"You know how to flatter a man".
Oliver turned red. He hated that, he was extremely expressive, every emotion quickly showing on his face. When he was angry, he looked like puffed up cat.
"I meant it in "you look bad, are you okay" way".
Marcus couldn't lie, he was surprised that Oliver cared, or at least was bothered enough to pretend he did.
"I'm hungry, my head is killing me and I'm twitchy 'cuz I couldn't take my meds. Life is awful."
"Meds?" Oliver asked, truly curious.
"I have ADHD, was actually diagnosed during holidays" he explained "I have to take my meds right after breakfast but I was too late for that so..."
Their, surprisingly civil, conversation was interrupted by a house elf, Marcus was almost sure it was Vekey.
"I have your food, Marcus sir".
Marcus stopped correcting them to not call him sir as it didn't work.
What Vekey brought definitely didn't look like a simple sandwich. Twelve carrot cupcakes stood on a plate like a pyramid.
"Sir Marcus is nice, sir Marcus deserves his favorites" Vekey explained with a huge grin, making Flint blush.
"Thank you all so much. You all are too nice."
The house elf left and Flint put the plate in between them, waving to Oliver to eat.
"You are really kind to the house elves" Oliver pointed out.
"You sound surprised. It's human decency".
"Well, yeah" Wood scratched his head awkwardly and took one cupcake "Kinda expected you to treat them like slaves".
Marcus understood that and respected the truthfulness but Oliver explained further as if afraid he would be misunderstood.
"I mean, that's how I would guess your parents raised you, you dirty pureblood".
Dirty pureblood was a laughable insult in Marcus' opinion.
"Honestly, they did. But I'm kind since I was like ten and Terence screamed at me for a good half an hour for not saying "thank you"" Marcus laughed.
Oliver had no idea Flint and Higgs knew each other before Hogwarts. He was just about to answer when Marcus continued quieter.
"Then my parents screamed at me for an hour or so for treating them like we are equal" he admitted bitterly "But..." he wasn't sure if he should continue, but after Oliver's soft interested gaze, he did "Terence's opinion matters more. Always have."
Oliver observed as Marcus took a small container from his pocket and took one pill. He swallowed it and took another cupcake.
"Don't want to be nosy but your family seems kinda awful."
"That's fundamentally not true".
Marcus protested and Oliver was sure he would get mad for insulting his family. But Marcus finished :
"I got disowned so I don't have a family to be bad."
Wood couldn't help but burst out laughing. He felt kinda bad, laughing at 17 years old getting disowned by his family. But he explained to himself that Flint made the joke himself, it was okay.
"That's kinda awful" Oliver just said after a while.
"Nah, I'm good" Marcus shrugged "The least toxic people in your life, the better you're doing, you know?"
They finished the cupcakes and Marcus' hunger and headache faded. He stood up.
"Bye," Flint said simply but decided to add "It was actually really nice to be civil with you ."

Three pieces with baby Team
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the beginning of their friendship, previous to being in one Quidditch team, so here we go
(also, somehow Cassius Warrington is the only one missing there, I'm sorry, I love him, he just didn't fit)
✨Terence, Marcus, and Graham✨
They knew each other before Hogwarts. Being from rich, pureblood families there were a lot of banquets and dinners they attended to.
Marcus liked Terence from the very first second. They were nine years old and extremely bored. Those dinners were awful, especially for kids and most of the people Marcus had met before were those perfect, boring, and stiff children. He knew its what their parents wanted and that they were being good kids but it annoyed him nonetheless.
It was so fresh, and new, and awesome when Higgs approached him and asked if he wanted to play hide and seek.
Montagues and Flints wanted their sons to get along well. You know, two classic, old-fashioned pureblood houses and their heirs being friends. Marcus and Graham understood each other great from the beginning and both loved Quidditch. They wanted to be friends even if they had to act in front of their parents. However, Graham was totally forbidden from any contact with Terence because his parents didn't respect the Higgs family. Because of that, Graham kinda saw Terence as mythical even, hearing all the cool stories about him from Marcus, being so close to him yet couldn't reach him. When Graham started Hogwarts and his parents couldn't do anything about who's he friends with, he and Terence quickly became friends
✨Lucian Bole and Peregrine Derrick✨
They have that typical one compartment in the Hogwarts Express story. Lucian was sitting with some people already when Derrick ran into the compartment, barely breathing, asking if he could sit with them. Perry and Luke started talking and immediately had that spark. Lucian wasn't stressed about sorting, he's outgoing and would get along with most people and his family members were in all the houses before. But he noticed how anxious Derrick was. After Lucian was sorted into Slytherin he didn't go to the table, he came back to the rest of the first years waiting in line, screaming that he would wait for Derrick. They went to the table together after Derrick was sorted.
✨Adrian, Graham, and Miles✨
Graham was afraid to be left alone. He didn't like the fact there were three of them, an odd number. He had trouble befriending others because of how he was raised, it fitted stiff banquets with parents always watching. But not true relationships with other 11 years olds from normal families. Adrian and Miles were really nice to him, engaging him in their conversations, asking about his opinion, and laughing at his jokes. But Graham wasn't quite as talkative and excited all the time as they were. They fitted each other perfectly. So when he got to his first lesson ever — History of Magic — and saw Adrian and Miles already sitting together he wasn't surprised. Graham sat alone at a different desk, looking into a textbook. He almost missed approaching Adrian.
"And what are you doing there?" Adrian asked and Graham didn't understand.
"What do you mean, Ade?"
Adrian left the question unanswered. Instead, he muttered "you are not getting away that easily" and he grabbed Graham's chair and, with the boy still on it, pulled it all the way to his and Miles' desk.
"If professor Binns is half as inert as everyone says, three people at one desk will be the tiniest problem" Miles explained.
"Yeah, and on other lessons, we will switch desks" Adrian added.
"As he said, it will take much more effort to get rid of us".
At that moment, Graham understood he got himself lifelong friends.

Smoking and drinking headcanon
Hiya, I dunno why cigarettes are so Slytherin but they are so let's take a look at drinks and cigs
Terence Higgs
Terry loves wine and whiskey, he's the type of person who drinks alcohol with meals for its taste not to actually get drunk. And he really likes cigarettes, especially flavored ones. Terence likes to try new flavours but his ultimate favorite is a mint
Marcus Flint
He likes drinks with those little umbrellas. The sweeter the better. If he just wants to get wasted for whatever reason, he would drink straight-up vodka, but his ultimate choice is always Clover Club. Marcus doesn't really smoke, sometimes at parties but it's rare
Cassius Warrington
Boy, oh boy. Cass hates the taste of alcohol but likes that dizzy feeling. So he prefers vodka so he would get drunk without drinking much of it. About cigarettes, he was the first of them to start smoking and dragged Montague and Higgs with him. So yeah, he smokes a lot
Peregrine Derrick
Perry loves rum. It's always his choice and when he's drunk he always jokes about being a pirate. He doesn't smoke, he tried it and started coughing and it was awful. But he usually goes with the rest for a cigarette break during parties or between lessons. Derrick is there for the conversation, not for cigarettes
Lucian Bole
Luke is a health freak. He keeps his diet, doesn't eat sweets, trains every day, and sleeps for at least 8 hours. He's abstinent, never smoked and doesn't plan to even try. The only alcohol he has ever drunk was a sip of champagne on his 16th birthday
Adrian Pucey
Adrian likes alcohol more than most people would have guessed. He enjoys trying new drinks and new flavours of beer. He has a surprisingly great tolerance for alcohol. He tried smoking, he sometimes does that at parties. For whatever reason, Higgs never smokes around him so Adrian wouldn't inhale that. The dude literally lives with Montague, he does inhale that. On topic...
Graham Montague
Graham is abstinent. He doesn't really care about his health (talking about teenage Graham), he doesn't drink for a different reason. His father is a drunk and Graham doesn't want to be like him. He hates feeling similar to him so he has never drunk even a sip of any liquor. He loves cigarettes tho. Montague tried it because of Warrington and ended up addicted. He enjoys having a cigarette between his fingers and holding it to his lips. It's weird but sometimes he does that gesture with e.g. pen, it just feels right
Miles Bletchley
Miles drinks only at parties and barbeques. At parties, it's funny drinks and at barbecues, it is rhubarb flavoured beer. His favourite drinks and cocktails are the ones with chocolate. Miles hates cigarettes, he never tried smoking but the smell itself disgusts him. He fights with Graham over smoking in the dorm and never goes with the rest of the team for cig-break
Bonus, I think all of them except Lucian Bole would be willing to try smoking weed. Higgs would be a philosopher, Marcus would be emotional and sappy, Warrington would just be relaxed, Derrick would for sure have an anxiety attack, Adrian would be even more touchy than usually and I think he would swear more, Montague and Miles would be sleepy. And Lucian would be the mother of the group and take care of them and panic every time anyone moves thinking they're on their way to do sth stupid
Please, take care of yourself and remember alcohol and cigarettes are extremely unhealthy, didn't get into that shit

Flintwood soulmate au
That's kinda long and kinda cute-funny i guess. Anyways, Flintwood is so perfect for soulmates au
Marcus Flint told himself he didn't care who his soulmate was. Everyone was incredibly excited about it, it was the only interesting topic around sixteen-year-olds, they analyzed their signs, trying to guess who their soulmate was. Marcus, however, was most weirded out by couples, stressed that they might not turn out to be meant for each other. They loved each other, they knew that their relationship worked well and made them happy, and yet they were willing to give it up for someone they might not even know.
Flint knew from the examples of his and his friends' parents that both a soulmate relationship could be a disaster and a relationship between people who, according to the universe, were not meant for each other, could be perfect and full of love. He didn't get his hopes up for the whole farce.
Despite this, when he went to bed on June 21, he couldn't stop thinking that when he woke up in the morning, he would have a tattoo of his soulmate.
***
On the morning of June 22, Marcus had a hard time stopping himself from examining his body for the tattoo. He didn't want it to be the first thing he did when he woke up. He didn't want to admit to himself that he cared.
He was saved by Terence Higgs, who, unasked, said:
"Below your collarbone."
Marcus slept shirtless. They had a room just the two of them, he and Terence, and Flint was always comfortable around his closest friend. After all, the blond had seen much more than his muscular stomach.
Higgs had had a soulmate mark for six months now. On the palm, near the thumb, there were waves and a purple shape they still hadn't identified. Terence would never admit it, his parents weren't soulmates after all, and they were an incredibly lovely couple, but he cared who his soulmate was. It annoyed him all the more that he couldn't even tell what it was, let alone who it might symbolize.
Marcus looked at himself in the large wall mirror that hung next to their wardrobe. He automatically looked down at his collarbones and almost laughed at the tattoo. Broom. Well, he could agree with the universe, apparently, he and his soulmate were a good match. It wasn't an ordinary broom though, it looked a bit like branches with leaves and reminded Marcus of a Russian school of magic where Quidditch was played on small trees.
He stopped laughing two days later when Lucian Bole, who was by far the best in herbology among them, made him realize that the twig growing from the broom was most definitely an olive tree. Marcus didn't know many Quidditch-obsessed Olivers. Fuck.
***
Marcus did nothing with this information. Contrary to appearances, he did not hate Oliver Wood, he considered him a great player, but the younger Gryffindor was so easily irritated and it gave Marcus a strange pleasure. But he didn't think Oliver shared his opinion, and regardless of their relationship, Marcus knew he wasn't anyone's ideal.
So he hadn't mentioned it to Oliver, who was still a year away from his sixteenth birthday, but the thought always flashed through his mind when he and Oliver were arguing and arguing. He found it a little amusing.
***
Oliver Wood stayed up all night waiting for the characteristic itch of his skin. Most people got their soulmate mark shortly after midnight, regardless of what time someone was born. So Oliver waited, taking advantage of the fact that it was vacation and he didn't have to get up at all.
Wood would describe the feeling as a tickle rather than an itch, but perhaps that's because his tattoo appeared on his ribs, reminiscent of the feeling of running your fingers over someone's ribs to tickle them. Even though it was a late hour, he switched on the light to examine the newly created tattoo. He was genuinely surprised. Usually, the soulmate mark had its symbolism and referred to the person destined for man. The meaning of their name, passions, favorite things, or colors. Meanwhile, Oliver had... a stone on his ribs. A gray boulder with irregular shapes.
***
Neither Oliver nor any of his friends could understand what the boulder in his ribs might have symbolized. Wood didn't care too much about that. He'd thought about it a lot over the summer, but when the school year and with it the Quidditch season started, the stone moved to a very distant place in his mind.
***
Everything went down in November.
Oliver went flying, taking advantage of the drizzle that kept most people from being active outdoors. But of course not one particular Slytherin. Marcus Flint flew aimlessly around the pitch and between the loops. As soon as Oliver entered the pitch, the Slytherin flew over to him, and as always, they began to argue. Wood hated that amused smirk that always showed on Flint's lips when he was barely keeping his fists from clenching. At one point when Oliver bluntly called him an unprincipled creature that brings shame to the human race, Flint laughed and swashbucklingly said:
"Not a nice way to talk about your soulmate."
***
Flint couldn't help himself. He hadn't planned on confessing their bond to Oliver. He often wondered what Wood's tattoo looked like and whether the boy knew they were soulmates. Now, seeing his face, he was sure that the Gryffindor had not deciphered his tattoo.
"Excuse me, what?!"
Marcus laughed at Oliver's indignation. He hadn't expected a positive reaction, so he was glad it was at least comical.
Flint took off his shirt without a word. He would have been able to show the boy his tattoo without it, but he wanted to show off his muscles. Is there anything wrong with that?
***
Oliver blushed as the Slytherin randomly began undressing. Flint pointed to a small drawing under his collarbone, Oliver looked at it, and before he could protest that the broom wasn't necessarily related to him, Marcus explained:
"Those twigs and leaves, that's an olive tree, Oliver Wood." He gave him a suggestive look "What does your tattoo look like?"
Oliver ignored the older boy's question and stepped closer, then without warning ran his finger over the tattoo. He felt a pleasant shiver, and Marcus hissed. Hell, it's all true.
After that, he lifted his shirt, showing Flint his ribs.
"I have a boulder on my ribs, a bloody boulder. I have no idea what's that supposed to mean."
Flint chuckled and between laughter asked:
"You do know what a flint is, right? You've literally had my surname on your ribs for three months and you haven't figured it out?"
Oliver got angry. A stone is a stone, why delve into the topic. Now the drawing seemed awfully obvious to him, not even a hidden meaning, just Flint.
"Since when did you know we are meant for each other?"
"It was pretty obvious, about two days after my birthday, I was sure it's you," Marcus admitted.
"And you didn't say anything?!" Oliver yelled, "for a year and a half?!"
Flint didn't seem bothered by his anger and shouting, he awkwardly scratched his head and explained:
"What did you expect? That one day during a fight I'd randomly confess to you that according to the universe, we would be a perfect couple?"
The Slytherin said it ironically, joking about the bizarreness of the situation. It wasn't until the words left his mouth that he realized it was actually true. Oliver noticed it too and didn't fail to point it out.
"You literally did it today, why not a year and a half ago? You selfish asshole, you laugh at my ignorance of boulders, at least I'm useful for anything more than Quidditch..."
The string of insults was interrupted by the boy's loud laugh.
"For your information, I draw, pretty well from what I've been told, and I'm a hell of a magic dueler," Marcus rarely bragged, but he liked to surprise the Gryffindor. His puzzled expression was almost as funny as the furious one "By the way, it's not very nice of you that the first thing you do when you find out I'm your soulmate is to yell at me."
Marcus' voice definitely didn't indicate that he was actually feeling unfairly treated or hurt.
"The second thing I'm going to do is break your nose."
Flint burst out laughing, not expecting Wood to follow his threats.
***
Oliver, as well-mannered, polite young man he was, took Flint to the Hospital Wing, making sure not to stain his robes with the blood still dripping from Marcus' broken nose.
Madam Pomfrey sighed hopelessly when she saw them. Both boys made frequent appearances in the Hospital Wing, especially Oliver. Wood spent a lot of time on that bed, both due to injuries from games and training, and general exhaustion. The boy often ignored his own body and overtrained himself, which ended up with nights in the hospital wing and chatting with Madam Pomfrey.
"What happened?" She asked, not sure if she wanted to know.
"I broke his nose," Oliver openly admitted. After all, he had no reason to feel ashamed or guilty.
"Oliver," Pomfrey groaned, "You know I have to inform Professor McGonagall? It's shameful to break someone's nose. Again."
Marcus kept his head down, letting the blood flow freely, though it almost stopped by now. Madam Pomfrey placed a cold compress on his neck and gave him a painkiller.
"Please don't tell Professor McGonagall, there's no need to" Marcus protested. "Let's not lie to ourselves, it's not the first time and it probably won't be the last time. There's no reason for me to want to send him to detention, what do I get from that?"
Oliver sighed in relief as the boy stood up for him. Apparently, Flint agreed with him that he deserved a broken nose. Wood wasn't afraid of losing points, he didn't care much, but the detention was just a waste of time that could be used for training.
"Can you at least explain to me what happened?" Pomfrey sighed deeply, mending Flint's nose.
She didn't understand something about this situation. Oliver had broken Flint's nose, yes, that had happened before, but he also had brought the Slytherin to the hospital wing, propped on his arm, and was still sitting there.
"Don't even get me started," Wood growled, as if forgetting that the boy was sitting next to him and could hear everything. "That... Marcus knew we are soulmates for one and a half years and hadn't thought that it might be nice to tell me about it. He told me that today without a reason really, and randomly started undressing" Oliver sounded indignant, he locked eyes with Madam Pomfrey "I'd like to make it clear that I did not take his shirt off. Well, didn't he deserve what he got?"
Madam Pomfrey was horrified at this news. She knew from her own experience that the more contact there was between the two, the more often they showed up at the Hospital Wing door for a variety of reasons.
But despite all that, she thought, Oliver had brought him here and still hadn't left, waiting for him to get his nose fixed and Flint, even listening to the rant about him, didn't seem upset and didn't even want to cause Wood any trouble.
While Oliver was telling the origin of Flint's broken nose, Pomfrey had just managed to fix it to how it was before. There was no difference. Marcus thanked her for both fixing his nose and not telling the other teachers about the situation.
Then he did something that surprised everyone in the room, probably even himself:
"Wood, how about the third thing you do with this information is go to Three Broomsticks with me?"
Wood did not refuse.

Who kissed
Sorry not sorry, all of the boys are all in for kissing the homies goodnight so here we go, a random thing explaining who kissed at least once within the group and how that happened
Terence Higgs and Adrian Pucey - let's just get that out of the way, they are dating, of course, they have kissed. They finally got together when Terence finished Hogwarts. Adrian confessed to him over the train's window. Terence couldn't visit in Hogwarts so they met on first going out to Hogsmeade and sorted everything out, kissed, and started dating
Marcus Flint and Terence Higgs - I just think they are that type of friendship. They kissed when they were like 13 to see if it's really that nice, they compared dicks sizes just because, they made out when 15 yo Terence was going on a date and was stressed about his lack of experience. They often make sexual innuendoes and the others can never be sure if they are for real or not
Cassius Warrington and Adrian Pucey - it was a very specific situation. They kissed while Cassius was transferring air with cigarette smoke into Adrian's mouth at the party. Adrian kissed him because he was in a party mood and why not. Cass didn't have anything against, he considered himself straight back then, but he never was the type to reject a pretty person with kissing skills, it just didn't mean much to him. It caused a whole drama because Higgs was mad at Cassius and even said he surely made Adrian do it. And Adrian was furious. He was in love with Terence since he has met him, dealing with friend zone and Higgs being completely oblivious and calling Adrian his little brother. And then when Adriam kissed someone, Terence was a jealous bitch. Adrian was mad because Terence didn't have the right to accuse Warrington of sth like this and to be jealous because they weren't each others. So yeah, a little kiss caused a whole drama but the boys have good memories of the kiss itself. And Warrington always teases Higgs that he made out with his boyfriend

Issues solving Slytherin boys edition
Okay so I think that they have a totally different way of dealing with issues and obviously, they know each other really well so they know what to expect, enjoy
If you want actual good advice to help you deal with the issue, you go to Terrence Higgs. Higgs is the most mature one of them and has that balance between being good with emotions and being logical
If you want to rant about your feelings and cry on sb's shoulder, you go to Adrian Pucey and Miles Bletchley. What can I say, they are lovely, cuddly creatures. They will listen to you, cry with you, and cuss person who hurt you
If you want to forget for a while, you go to Peregrine Derrick and Lucian Bole. The most social and outgoing duo. They will take you somewhere to have fun so you won't think about that stuff for a while. We all know how annoying it is when you can't stop thinking about something. They will keep you entertained and busy and having fun
If you want to get rid of emotions, you go to Marcus Flint, Graham Montague, and Cassius Warrington. Training (Graham's favourite though not the healthiest way to get rid of emotions, especially anger), brutal Quidditch match, destroying something, setting something on fire. Honestly, who has never punched sth with rage? Sometimes you just have to unwind all those unwanted emotions before doing anything to actually solve the problem
