I already commented on the post but
"#bc they are my own and not canon. and i donât want people to think iâm wildly misunderstanding the character#bc i more than understand and am also invested in the boundaries of canon. but i also like doing what i want#and deconstructing and reconstructing narrative and characterization#and i feel like people wonât know that but i also feel so silly putting a disclaimer over everything i draw of being like#âoh this is my own thing actuallyâ LOL"
I relate to that so hard with soooo many of my stories. Like I brought up my own version of The Boysâą but genuinely I feel this with so many of my interests. Like, Undertale most of them because it genuinely has a super deep complex story a lot of people tend to misunderstand or not care about or not get the themes, and I love talking about The Themes and How Cool The Game Is and Common Misconceptions
Then I make a fanfiction that's like. Nothing like canon even a little bit. Genuine it is sometimes the fucking opposite of the Point Of The Game and like if someone ever pointed that out to me I would shake them and go I KNOW I KNOW I CARE ABOUT IT WAY MORE THAN YOU DO LET ME EXPLAIN IN DETAIL JUST DON'T INSULT ME OVER IT I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING
YEAA U GET IT HAHA! i donât feel that way about every series bc i like to think im pretty decent with Media Literacy and like to respect authors wishes whatnot but like.. in particular stuff thatâs both extremely oversaturated to the public and/or purposefully vague enough in either character or plot so it has room for exploration (like pokemon and undertale) by its Very Nature people are gonna take it and run with it! thatâs why so many of those undertale aus got crazy popular, people just like pondering the âwhat ifsâ and i think thatâs wonderful. on the other side i know how frustrating as it is to see people obviously misunderstand smth in a piece of work you hold dear but in the end i donât think itâs very productive to be mad about esp if you donât have Ownership over that work. for better or for worse putting things out there for an audience people will always engage with it differently and itâs fine tbh. in the end if u arenât hurting anyone then who cares!
ON A SIDE NOTE thank u for the extremely nice tags and comments đđ itâs smth that i get so easily self conscious about even if i know it doesnât really matter but its always so kind to hear that you enjoy my stuff and can relate to my plights haha

Hi so what's the deal with your pokemon gen 2 art like why is some of it tagged as silver/gold and some as "ocs" or "fire escape". Like I don't mean to be rude but those ocs do look suspiciously like the gen 2 characters
Fire escape is what ive titled my personal kinda re-write project for the GSC plot! Its still a pokemon story largely inspired by some stuff from the manga, and the similarity between casts was always meant to be 100% transparent. apologies if it was misleading!Â
The only art I have tagged as silver+gold I actually drew ages ago before i started writing my own thing, they aligned way closer to the actual characters at the time i drew them, and so i felt fine tagging them as such. I understand the confusion though!Â
I've actually been waffling back and forth on how to approach tags since this certainly falls into the gray area of âtaking a 2-dimensional character from a thing I like and turning it into my own with obvious inspirationâ.
With the intention of how tags are used, I decided to go against tagging them as âgold, silver, crystalâ ect, since what I have in mind for this story most certainly will diverge enough from âcanonâ I feel like itâd eventually be MORE confusing if i continued to tag the characters as their offical counterparts. (Especially since they have different names and everything, lmao).
I mostly feel a little guilty using a tag for self-indulgent stuff that feels so far removed from the traditional narrative, it's easier to just post them on their own, yknow? In that sense, yeah, i consider what iâve done with the characters and story just me doing my own thing- with some obvious springboards that iâm not trying to be deceptive about. I really dont mind whatever people tag them as when reblogging them or anything though tbh. This is just for my own fun anyway!
