random cod hcs #3 - roach
everyone’s favorite little bug boy, the best guy (I have been watching playthroughs and shit and I am officially hyperfixated). here are some hcs for the guy who's probably now my favorite character. also making it clear now that he’s audhd, if you disagree you’re wrong /j. but that will be influencing some of these headcanons
he definitely likes collecting rocks, especially special ones like if they’re super smooth or have some different colors. any special rock goes into his collection. his prized possession is a rock that sparkles in the light
he doesn’t have one set love language, he has two; penguin pebbling and parallel play. you know he really likes someone when he gives them a rock, the prettier/more rare the rock the more he likes the person. parallel play is usually reserved for people he’s closer to
despite what people may first think, he’s really good at masking. he did it his whole life; it’s only now that he’s in the 141 that he feels okay to unmask, after more than a few conversations about how no one would judge him for being himself. now he’s nonverbal or semiverbal almost all the time, but that doesn’t save the task force from a little chaos. he’s comfortable enough to unmask all the time now, knowing one of the others can explain if anyone new questions him
he’s fluent in many different sign languages, and can read, write, and listen/understand many languages as well. he knows how to speak most of these languages too, but not as fluently and he never really needs to. it helps whenever a translator is needed, the team always goes to Roach first
he loves that his callsign is Roach, since in his teen years he had a hyperfixation/borderline special interest on bugs/insects. however his favorite were ants, with moths being a close second because of how pretty they are
yes he loves pokemon, he has a gameboy advanced and a copy of emerald that he plays whenever he struggles with falling asleep. he also has a card collection, but hasn’t added to it in a while
he sleeps like he’s dead. there is no movement when he falls asleep; people have to actually go over and check that he’s breathing, that he has a pulse, anything to make sure he’s just asleep and hasn’t died
he can and will fall asleep anywhere on base. it’s like playing hide and seek only the hiding one fell asleep
despite what some people think, he's extremely organized. but that's because he color codes everything. if he needs to highlight, he's color coding his highlighters - each color is for a certain thing. same with sticky notes. colors are universal - red is for enemies, targets, etc, while blue is for dates, stuff like that

angst one-shot #2 - imposibilities
you thought it would be easier than this. easier to not catch feelings. especially for your commander of all people. phillip graves. but things were getting a little too obvious, so he decided to confront you. only to lay you down.
you'd been with shadow company for a while. a few years to be exact. you were here just as graves started this whole shadow company, you were a good soldier. you did your job well, took order and gave them even better.
but over your time with the company, you couldn't help but find yourself being more allured by your boss, your commander. phillip graves. you knew you weren't supposed to, but you did anyways. it wasn't like you could help it after all.
but there you stood in the barracks. making yourself look busy while you were half dozing off because of your daydreaming about this man. how he would look.. without the whole military gear. you honestly couldn't help it, your mind would trail off whenever you looked at him.
"y/n"
you recognised that voice instantly. it honestly shocked you for a moment, as you put down whatever you had in your hand and swiftly turned around. saluting your commander with a stern face.
"yes, commander?"
you spoke up for a few moments. as silence filled the barracks, neither of you said anything. it was so tranquil and quiet. it was calming, only a little bit, but the tense feeling came back once graves started to talk once again.
"at ease, soldier."
he spoke to you, as you managed to let your body relax you looked to him. you were starting to think about what he would want to say to you... he didn't know about your feelings for him.. did he?
"i've heard some rumours."
shit.
"what sort of.. rumours?"
"you have an interest in me. soldier."
the way he said those words... it sounded like poison that just struck your heart. this was over for you. he would reject you right here and then. you just knew it. there wasn't anything you could do about ti apart from just taking it.
"i do.."
hesitation came over you. you couldn't think of the words to say, even though you most desperately wanted to.
"you realise that's wrong. right?"
"you cannot have a little 'crush' on your commander. y/n. it could jeopardise you and missions. what do you think happens when you're in battle and you're off daydreaming about me? the enemy isn't going to stop to let you do that."
hearing those words. your whole world fell apart. you knew he was right but just couldn't bring yourself to acknowledge them. so all you could do was give him a little nod as he walked away. leaving you alone in the barracks with your thoughts.

random headcanons #5 - soap
everyones favourite scotsman, john "soap" mactavish
soaps music taste is so weird, one day you could hear him listening to something from ac/dc and then the next day you here some pop song, then he goes to the complete opposite and plays something from c418 {totally not because i was listening to these while writing this headcanon}.
john loves naps. its just so nice when he gets to have a nap after a long hard day, but he would nap anywhere. on the floor, bed, couch, even in a car or helicopter. just wherever he can, just dont fall victim to him, when he falls asleep on you, he's like a cat. you cannot move.
mactavish loves called you nicknames/petnames {with consent ofc}, you both even have some inside jokes that everyone around you just doesn't get no matter how many times you both try to explain it. but either way you both enjoy each others company
honestly, the first time you met soap he was very cheerful and teasy. but first seeing him in battle it was as if that completely changed, he was more stoic and serious and authoritative. it had completely shocked you that he could be this professional. well he had to be, but what shocked you was the fact he could change just by snapping a finger.
after your first mission together, soap would point out a few mistakes you made, only if you'd let him, that is. but he wouldn't do it in front of everyone, he would wait till you're alone or not with as many people, then he would take you down to the shooting range to help with your firing and stances.
when outside of his work duties, john loves to head over to a little cafe, which used to be your favourite place but now it belongs to both of you as a favourite hangout spot. you'd see him there practically whenever he had any free time and wasn't sleeping. you both like hanging around the cafe because it has a nice calming environment.
continuing with the cafe topic, the first time both of you were there together, he bought you your favourite drink from there. you have been trying to pay him back for ages but he refused to take any money for it.

random headcanons #4 - ghost
simon "ghost" riley. our favourite faceless man, so enjoy some of these headcanons.
for some reason i feel like the man would listen to green day but constantly hides it because soap used to tease him about his music tastes. it go so annoying to the point where ghost has to listen to his music in the bathroom because soap wont shut up and tease him about his tastes
if you were dating ghost, he loves to come up behind you and ruffle your hair, no matter if its a good or bad hair day and no matter how short or long it is. it does annoy you but he finds it so adorable when you're annoyed and flustered
no matter what, he refuses to celebrate the holidays. he's just not a holiday person. because holidays are centred around family. and of course as we all know, ghost isn't a family person. he might warm up to the idea of it because of the 1-4-1, but the likely hood is slim
ghost is one who is really hard to break, in interrogations he is the least likely to supply information no matter what you try and use against him. but on the other hand, he can be cruel if he is the one interrogating. though it would depend on how he is feeling.
simon basically never lets anybody use his first or last name. its always 'ghost' or 'lieutenant' (of course with soap as an exception, calling ghost 'l.t') if you were as close with him as soap was, then maybe he might let you use one nickname
if in a relationship ghost wouldn't want everyone to know that you're dating, at least not straight away, but it would be more and more obvious to people, he would sometimes favour you in training or you'd just hang around more often than you usually would

angst one-shot #1 - argument
being yelled at by gaz was probably one for the worst things that you could have imagined. it would make complete sense if it was from the lieutenant, or the captain. hell even from soap you would understand. but from garrick? {continuation from angst headcanon here}
the first time that the both of you had gotten into an argument, it was due to the fact that you had run into a fight without being fully prepared. while nobody was injured or dead, he still was completely frustrated, though mostly worried for you.
"y/n, what the fuck was that about!?"
his words hit you like bricks. the fact that he began to raise his voice at you made you realise just how serious this was.
"nobody died, garrick!"
"thats sergeant to you."
you had to pause for a moment before even thinking about what to say. the fact that he said those words were a little shocking to hear, honestly. you had never seen him act like this.
it took you a few minutes before you could even say anything, and even when you did the only thing you could mutter was;
"yes, sergeant."
while it was only a mutter, you looked down at the ground, avoiding eye contact. it only took a few minutes of silence for garrick to speak up again.
"if you don't care about your own life, then we have no use for you! i can't believe you just rushed into battle like that, y/n!"
hearing those words. it was like your whole world broke apart. the fact that you were getting yelled at by kyle of all people. you would have understood if it was ghost or price, maybe even soap sometimes. but garrick? the one who is supposed to be the 'nicer' and 'calmer' one?
"i apologise for that but nobody died! it wasn't a failure!"
you spoke back out of turn, trying to make it seem like a good thing.
"it wasn't a success either. what was the point?! we didn't even get anything valuable from it!"
once again, you had to pause, trying to find some sort of argument or excuse for your actions. but then, you just couldn't think of anything and you couldn't even think about the consequences.
"im just- im just going to let the captain deal with you. i dont have time for this. dont contact me, y/n."

random cod hcs #3 - gaz
time for some of our favourite sergeant. kyle "gaz" garrick
to be completely honest, he was probably the first guy you met when it was your first day in the 141. he was a funny guy who showed you around the base and you hit it off quite easily and price was glad to see that you and gaz were getting along with each other
the first time you got injured in a battle, he laughed at you, only because he found it a little funny. but as karma, he then also got injured afterwards and you both were laughing.
similar to soap and ghosts banter, you and gaz have your own little inside jokes. having banter here and there no matter the situation. "hey, garrick" - "just call me gaz" - "ight, so gazza-" - "y/n you're a fucking wanker" - "thanks dipshit"
you would always come up with saying the wrong things at the wrong time. "what if i made a flamethrower with hairspray and a lighter?" - "..." - "what? its a good question." - "we're in the middle of a briefing to stop makarov." - "so? i can use the flamethrower on him"
angst: when soap had died, gaz usually kept to himself and was more quieter than usual. you on the other hand were a bit more yourself, cracking out more jokes just to try and hide the pain that you were in from losing mactavish. he took a note of this, while he didn't talk about it. he knew that you were struggling too.
angst pt2: when you both first got into an argument, he would use things you did in the past against you, though he wouldn't realise that he would be doing it at first. the first time you got in an argument was when you rushed into a fight unprepared, while you weren't injured it was just horrifying for garrick to witness. though one line he said did stick with you. "if you don't care about your own life, then we have no use for you!" those words stuck with you throughout the next month.

random cod hcs #2 - price
time for some of everyone's favourite father figure, captain price. as a father, because that seems to be a trend here
unlike makarov from the first post. john would be a better father, genuinely due to the fact he isn't a war criminal and knows how to treat a basic human being.
whether you were a biological child or an adopted one, he loves you with all his heart, even if you had siblings, he loves all of his children equally and wouldn't want any one of them to think otherwise
he would often spoil you with gifts, either spending quality time together or buying something you extremely love/like. especially for those who hyperfixate/have special interests on things. this could range from anything from video games to pieces of fabric he found at the shop.
price will always keep a photo of you (and your siblings if you have any) with him at all times, in a secret pocket within his bucket hat. only laswell knows of this as he has known her the longest and it was also because kate found out about the photo before john could tell her.
when the rest of the 141 knew about you, it was a shock to them at first as they never really thought that their captain could have kids, let alone raise one because he is a captain of their task force. but he makes do with what he can.
john would 100% be supportive of your identity, while he might not know a lot about it, he would stay awake at night making sure he did the correct research and made sure that he understands what you are. though he would be anxious to ask you questions about it
price loves spending quality time with you and your siblings (if you have any) on his time off. he would spend every free minute with you if he ever had the chance. you would do whatever you'd like with him, no matter what it would be

random cod hcs #1 - makarov
everyone's favourite angry russian man, vladimir makarov but as a father, because why not
while it doesn't seem like it at first, he could possibly be an okay father. though if you ever got in a fight, he would ask 3 questions; "did you instigate (start) the fight?" "did you end the fight?" and "did you win the fight?" honestly, he probably wouldn't care about the other two as long as you won the fight.
i feel like he would be a bit secretive of having a kid as he views it as 'weak' but he eventually warms up to his kid(s) and views them as his own little image. sometimes even as very little toddlers he would let them run around the base a bit and sometimes get caught by the other soldiers.
makarov is the type of guy who would be quite protective over his children. if one of them got hurt he wouldn't be taking it lightly. bodyguard to and from school, if you ever got a threat from a kid? it would be dealt with. in a violent way but you didn't need to know that at all.
vladimir is the type of father who would give the world for you when he actually warmed up to the idea of being a father and actually having a kid. if you asked to stay home, he would be asking why and if he felt like you're lying, he would understand.
i feel like he would sometimes confide in some of his best soldiers in the inner circle to ask if he even is doing a good job at raising a kid, though whenever they would give him pointers here and there he would shut them down. because of course, why would he listen to others on how to raise his kid even though he was the one who asked in the first place.
sometimes when he is too busy with work, he will probably just get one of his soldiers to check on you, though he 100% tries his best to have some time with you during the day. he does have some 'stuff' to be doing, after all.
