[ * I've never done such rendering with this method before (painted it and picked the colors by hand in a layer above the sketch/lineart and base color layer) and it turned out SO SO WELL ]
[ * I also wanted to give it a touch of computer-screen-ish-look because that just adds so nicely ]
[ * Took 8 hours in total, drawn on Krita along with a Wacom Intuos S tablet ]

I don't know about you guys but i really miss seeing "high fantasy" dragons in media, high fantasy dragons are like Smaug (The Hobbit), Draco (DragonHeart), Saphira (Eragon) and Spyro (Spyro the Dragon games franchise) for example, they have their own free will and cannot be controlled, they are highly intelligent and capable of speaking and even writing or drawing. It seems the version of dragons that has taken over is the animalistic and realistic version, that are basically huge dogs that can breath fire, bring back intellectual dragons that like to make riddles to fool intruders, bring back grumpy dragons that live isolated from everyone but they are actually lonely and in need of a friend, bring back the loyal and brave dragons that are willing to sacrifice themselves to save the ones they love, dragons that will talk to you about the mysteries of the world and the universe, JUST BRING BACK HIGH FANTASY DRAGONS GODDAMIT

[ * Tbh I don't think there has to be that much of a hard line between the three, especially between kintypes and linktypes given that some folks struggle or entirely have no idea of how to tell apart voluntary and involuntary identities (which just so happens to be my case) ]
[ * Pretty much the commonly accepted definitions are, to my understanding: ]
[ * Kin -> Identify as, involuntary (this is me, I am this, I did not choose to be{come} this) ]
[ * Heart -> Identify with (I relate to this, I have traits of this, but I do not necessarily identify as it) ]
[ * Link -> Identify as, voluntary (this is me, I am this, I chose to be this) ]
[ * I know some folks choose to go unlabeled (and even I'm considering going unlabeled given the constant pushing of involuntary identities), so there's that option to keep in mind as well ]
[ * There's also the term quoiluntary for when you don't know if the identity is voluntary or otherwise, but imo it's kind of an extra step, I think the voluntary-involuntary thing is more of a spectrum ]
[ * Is it ‘kinfirming’ if I’m not sure if it’s a kintype, heartype, or linktype?? It’s certainly a -type though ]

Othersimil: a term that has two different meanings:
not exactly being a creature, but sharing or having behaviors and traits that are similar to that creature
identifying as SOME aspects of a creature, not all
an example of this would be a dragonkin who has cat-like traits and identifying as catsimil. they may not be a cat themselves but cats do play a role in how they identify
a similtype is written like (creature) - simil
another example of this would be me, i am wolfsimil. i feel as if my kintypes may have wolf-like behaviors (such as howling, snarling, etc) and i do identify as a wolf to some extent. but i am not FULLY a wolf.
so its basically a much stronger connection to a hearttype, but not as completely identifying as a kintype. if that makes sense lol
theres no symbol or flag...yet. but i might make one
let me know if this has been coined before but i was tired of not having a term to describe my coastal wolf similtype lmao
mostly meant for otherkins and theriomythics, but anyone who feels like this fits them can use this!

COMMUNITY PSA: A reminder that those who identify physically as nonhuman are welcome and have always, and will always, be a part of the therian, alterhuman, nonhuman, otherkin, and similar communities, and can use ANY of these labels.
Whether their reason for identifying this way is spiritual, due to delusions, trauma, mental health, conditions such as lycanthropy or zoanthropy or is similar to the notion of "this is my body, and I am nonhuman, therefore my body is nonhuman" is their business and theirs alone.
People outside of the communities will always find a way to dislike us, and trying to cater to them by putting down other members of these groups will never make them fully accept us. Playing into the "Us vs Them" mindset only pushes the community apart.
All I hear when I see videos and comments from fellow therians, nonhumans, otherkin and alterhumans talking about these identities being ONLY non-physical is, "well, we OBVIOUSLY don't identify physically as animals/etc. We're not like those CRAZY people!"
Which is not only ableist but paints those who do identify physically in a bad light, whatever their reason may be. Delusions and mental illnesses that may cause them does not mean the identity of that individual is fake or wrong. So treat others nicely, even if you may not understand.
Not only that but delusions and the mental illnesses that cause them do not always equate to distressing or bad. Unlearn the idea that such things are an indicator of something being wrong and so has to be fixed because that mindset hurts many who live unbothered lives with them.
All of my accounts will always be safe spaces for those who have physical nonhuman and alterhuman identities. Just as they will be a safe space for those whose identity is non-physical. The only one who can decide what and who you are is yourself.
Stay true to yourself! Ignore, report and block the haters! Your happiness is more important than their ideas of you!

I want to see more portrayals of raw nonhumanity.
I want us to talk about ALL aspects of nonhumanity. we can talk about wanting to play fight, to chase prey, to long for missing extremities, but we should also be talking about wanting to roll in filth, wanting to mark your territory, urges to eat your young, and everything else that's "gross" even if it’s uncomfortable. Nonhumanity is weird and gross, it makes you want to do things that humans don't do. We don't exist to be palatable images of "human who identifies as an animal (but only in the cute ways).”
There is a unintentionally upheld standard that you have to make an image out of your identity, it HAS to be pretty and digestible for other people, your nonhumanity MUST to be organized and palatable. it can be "edgy" but it can't be too weird otherwise you're too weird. Why bind your existence to an idea of normalcy? Why stifle yourself in order to conform to the standards of a world that will never accept you? Why strive to be accepted by those that will never truly listen to you?
You are more than aesthetic photos and gear and silly posts!!! You are full of depth, you are a grotesque experience and you are made of blood and bones and guts and thoughts and instincts, and all of that should be treated with as much weight as it can be! You are allowed to be “Off.”
Interrogate your own discomfort around your identity, let yourself be okay with the things that are uncomfortable!!! You should relish in your own nonhumanity, you should wholeheartedly project the nasty and weird and angry parts of existence as an animal, they are just as real and as tangible and beautiful as your collars or your masks or your tails or anything else you hold dear. yeesh!

Things that only humans have to do that I think are stupid:
• Wear clothes
• Wear coats when they're walking outside for quite literally 10-15 seconds
• Apologize for universal bodily functions
• Work/School
• Feel okay all of the time
• Travel crazy distances for work
• Communicate with everyone who talks to them
• Use money
• Look presentable
• Brush their teeth
• Socially must use products to smell acceptable
• shower and use soap
Community additions (feel free to suggest more) :
• sleep for survival (from a vampire)
• pay taxes
• wake up before the sun rises
• wear coats (again)
• follow dumb laws
• fit into social norms
• have legs (from a mermaid)
• walk on 2 legs
• have 2 arms
• stay awake during the day
• talking
• mobility-limiting vaccines
• animal testing and abuse
• experience debilitating emotions forced by society
• only chew socially acceptable things
• take a super long time in the bathroom
• having inverted knees
• not curling up in a ball
• take meds to function in society
• push off pain for others emotional comfort
