I’ve got a LOT of Vox headcanons and a TON of things to say about him! StaticRadio?? Hmm,, Ig that more so leans into how I interpret Alastor!

Regardless, I’ll humor you with some of Vox’s physical attributes!

Vox is fully technology, he lacks a single organic component within his body. He is made entirely up of wires, cables, metal, programming, rubber, and much more! He’s fully machine! His neck is even made out of wires, very very sensitive wires!

Now, it’s a cruel twist of fate. Vox loves technology, so he ultimately became it. However, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. It’s actually horrifying.

Vox can barely feel anything physically. He can’t feel the touch of someone’s hand, or the fabric of his suit. He can’t feel the biting frost of the night, or the beating rays of the sun. His face is a screen, I took away his mouth. He can’t make any of that manifest into anything physical. He can barely feel anything. He’s sensory deprived.

Which is torture, because my Vox is a very sensory person. He loves touch. He loves feeling. Tasting. Smelling. He can’t do that anymore. He doesn’t even need to breathe. He can’t even cry, it’s all pixels on his screen.

Vox doesn’t sleep either. He shuts down, it’s more akin to a coma. His only solace is plugging himself into the system! Every day he believes he won’t wake up tomorrow. He’s never certain when a day is his last.

All of this sucks deeply, it’s horrible. Yet, Vox’s emotions overpower him. He feels deeply. All the time, just emotionally. Hence why it’s so easy for him to glitch and overheat. He is invincible, yet extremely fragile.

That’s sort of Vox as a whole. Invincible, yet fragile. His persona and charm are impenetrable walls. Yet, Vox is very vulnerable when it comes to friends. He barely has any. Due to the fact no one cares about Vox. They like Overlord Vox and what he provides.

Vox has a lot of masks he wears, haha. You never know when he’s being genuine. Ever, really.

In the end, Vox feels like a monster. He lost his humanity the most out of everyone, really. He wonders.. what sick shit did he do to validate stripping him of whatever made him human?

I absolutely love your AU, like Vox doesn’t shy away from how horrible of a man he is but you just can’t help loving him cause he’s so likable and charming!! What a man 😍

I’ve been wondering though, what is Vox’s mindset when it comes to his relationship with Lucifer? Does he actually like/love him or is only with him to gain even more favor from hell’s royals? A mix of both?

Also Alastor being jealous is so funny, old man can’t handle his dream guy looking away from him for a second

Hm,, His mindset? Simple! He was chasing a high.

He mostly wanted to seduce Lucifer just to see if he could! Vox is all about control and threading the needle. He’s a big talker, very smart with his words! He was curious how far he could go! Where this risk would take him!

Though, from knowing what we do about Lucifer,, Vox is gonna fumble. The dude is genuinely sweet and silly. How can Vox not grow attached to that?!

So,, it starts a little sneaky,, but grows into something he wasn’t expecting. So, a mix of both!!

Someone reblogged this awhile back and asked how Vox treats the royals!! I cant find it now and I’m sad :( but I’ll answer anyway!!

Vox is a charismatic person! He’s exceedingly charming! He puts on the charm around everyone, especially the royals! He puts on his best face! So, he remains respectful with a twinge of flair and charm!

Cozying up to the big shots is only beneficial in his eyes. Why would he not? It’s good to secure allies. Especially, ones with status!

Benefactor Vox just makes sense

Like, how Alastor handles the hotel makes NO sense to me,, Like he actively antagonizes everyone and shows complete disinterest he cannot stand that hotel,,

Meanwhile, Vox actually schmoozes his way around!! Vox makes himself likable!! He endears himself to Charlie!! He kisses the ass of the hotel patrons!! He brings over TWO patrons (Angel and Baxter)!! Like, Vox makes an effort to rub elbows bc he’s THAT charismatic! He KNOWS endearing himself will pay off in the long run!!

Reread a recent post of mine,, and realized I made Alastor’s jealousy act up only around other men..

Maybe it’s bc he canonically doesn’t like men, and Vox is the only man he’s ever felt genuinely anything towards. Alastor’s comfort zone is women. It’s why he only ever has female friends (minus Husk haha,,)

So, women around Vox doesn’t threaten him. It’s those fucking men daring to steal away what is his. Men who try to lure Vox away from him. Men who take all his attention.

Alastor is very jealous when it comes to men. Vox is his, after all.

I sort of wrote him out entirely, or if he ever existed— Vox would kill him live on broadcast! He’s got his millennia of reasons, I don’t need to bore you with those!

But, yes. Alastor would get severely jealous if Vox was pursuing another for a relationship. He isn’t super jealous of Velvette, due to how Vox considers her as his daughter. He isn’t jealous of a potential oc I have too, bc Vox is her bestie haha,,

Though, Alastor would be VERY jealous of Lucifer!! He wouldn’t like Vox wifing him up AT ALL!! Alastor is also envious of all the attention Angel gets from Vox due to being his top star.

Haha, funny you mention Overlord Husk! Actually, Husk and Alastor are overlord friends in my Au! They have an alliance with Rosie! They’re one big friend group, haha! Very sweet friends! Husk doesn’t fuck with Vox, he knows Vox is bad news.

Really loving your Vox benefactor au! In your last post you said Vox isn't there to help but he isn't forced either. So does that mean down the line he starts to change like Charlie and the gang start to grow on him, or does he not change and is the big bad at the end.

This au is really fun to think about sometimes :)

Interesting questions!!

Originally, Vox funds the hotel solely to exploit it. He wants to profit off of such a ridiculous idea! He convinces Charlie a Reality Show based around the hotel would be a splendid idea, and Charlie (having stars in her eyes) agrees completely! After all, Vox is so charming and charismatic!! How could she say no to such a great idea?!

I’ll be honest,, I’m not sure! I can definitely see the residents growing on him. Angel (he already owns Angel’s soul and they’ve worked together for awhile sooo,,), Baxter, Vaggie, Niffty.. Especially if it’s the timeline where he sleeps with Lucifer, how could he not just involve himself deeper and keep connections?

It’s a lot for me to think about?? But, at some point his intentions definitely become muddled, at some point,, it’s no longer just to use them.

My Vox was in the movie bizz when alive. Classic Hollywood movies producer. He’s been schmoozing and manipulating folks for a looong time! Showbizz is his blood, baby!

Alastor, to me, leans fully into Radio Host. I feel like, audibly he’s super entertaining! Buut,, he’s shown to lack that truly personable quality that Vox has. Vox can easily make folks like him. He knows how to control people with just a smile! It’s funny, I don’t think my Vox uses his hypnosis ability that much,, He can just talk his way in/out of things!

So idk,, to me it made sense he’d fund the hotel! His intentions aren’t to help at all, but he isn’t forced to be there! He’s there genuinely bc he wants to be!! Very interesting stuff!!

Buuuuttt, I’ll drop some input. I’ll feed my fellow ‘devoted relationship’ StaticRadio folks

Here’s how I view Alastor and Vox’s relationship;

Alastor and Vox have been in a committed rivalry ever since the 1950s, from the moment Vox manifested. It was a passionate butting of heads due to differences in views. One wanted to make changes, the other stubbornly held onto the past.

Over the course of many decades, the two have formulated a certain routine. A song and dance they’ve come to memorize. Every step. Every lyric. They refuse to have any other dance partner, as they already found the perfect one.

Vox is obsessed, that’s commonly known. Though, he’s such a force to be reckoned with, that nobody truly picks on him for that (my Vox is actually the most powerful Overlord in Hell haha,, he’s kinda a big deal). However, Alastor’s closest friends are very well aware of his feelings. Mostly Rosie takes note.

I’m a sex and romance repulsed AroAce, so I’m legit part of the group Alastor is supposed to represent. Here’s how I interpret him;

Alastor is repulsed by the common interpretation of love. He finds it dull. Pointless. The excessive grabbing, the insulting banter, the pointless outings. He despises it. However, the concept of traditional romance flutters his heart. Poetic words and grand gestures woo him greatly. Hence, why he really gravitates toward Vox. A man who’s a classic Hollywood schmoozer. Vox can say the most beautiful thing and back it up easily with a showy display.

Vox makes Alastor feel the closest thing he ever will to genuine love. Alastor constantly craves his attention. He’s bitterly jealous of whoever is scoring Vox’s time. He’s kept Vox around for almost 100 years. He’s torn the man apart, and let Vox do the same. Vox knows him better than anyone else. Vox has class, style, ambition. He is deathly fascinated by what Vox is, a machine (my Vox is fully a machine haha,, he lacks any organic material in his body,, it’s a very horrifying experience). A machine that feels such vivid emotions, such a vast range of them. A man who is powerful, controls everyone, and is a genuine monster at times. Alastor is fixated on this man.

Alastor also finds Vox to be the most physically desirable. The guy is a fuckin robot essentially. He’s got no sweat, no flesh, no horrid bodily fluids— Like, he’s perfect actually. If he’s ever humored the idea, it’s with Vox 100%.

Vox, despite being all about upgrades, has remained remarkably the same. Vox is Alastor’s safe space. All of Hell can change tomorrow, but his Vox will remain.

In simple terms.. Alastor has belonged to Vox ever since that man manifested all those years ago. Vox has been Alastor’s ever since. To Al, it’s unspoken knowledge. They belong to each other, and may Hell reign on whoever tries to take Vox away from him.
