Go deeper into yourself, through consistency in your practice of yoga. “Yoga is a powerful tool for liberating ourselves from unwanted, ingrained patterns. Through it, we identify, acknowledge, and progressively change them.” (B.K.S. Iyengar in Light on Life, p. 134). The practice of hatha vinyasa yoga is a balance of holding poses and building up to holding the poses through a flow - moving through sequences of poses or repetitively dipping into and coming out of a pose while staying a-tuned to your breath.✨The faster flows build up your inner fire to burn through stale patterns of moving and thinking. Think of them as a moving meditation, keeping your attention on your breath, and they’ll help you unblock and amplify the flow of your prana. They also build up your strength and focus, so you can then focus on specific poses and hold them for at least 5 breaths. ✨In the longer holds we can examine not only the pose but our reaction to the pose. What comes up for you when you find the full expression of a pose (whatever that may be for you at that moment) and let yourself marinate in it? Breathe through the challenges, the blockages. Notice if your mind is trying to yank you out of the pose prematurely. Notice if you are holding your breath. Come back to your ujjayi breath.✨It is like that in life too. Often it flows fast, but it’s imperative to also find the time to pause and notice if you are allowing the really important stuff to bypass you or perhaps even avoiding them. Staying present at all times and staying connected to what centers you and draws you in deeper, to what sparks your inner fire and helps you work through challenges, is how we find fulfillment - peace, love, harmony and happiness. It is not about achieving perfection, but it is about committing to the process, and coming back over and over again to your mat.✨How do you practice your yoga, on and off the mat?
