So my family has a Gay Pirate Plate.
Stay with me.
We do not know how the hell the Gay Pirate Plate was first acquired. This being a point of contention is actually pretty plot-relevant; the saga of the Gay Pirate Plate began with my grandmother and her sister, who, for some ungodly reason, both BADLY wanted the Gay Pirate Plate and believed it to be rightfully theirs.
I should back up, firstly, to establish: The Gay Pirate Plate is the cheapest, tackiest, ugliest plate in existence.
It is in no way a collector’s item. It is physically impossible for it to complement anyone’s decor, because the colors in it are garish. It’s just a ceramic plate with a gay pirate painted on it, and the painting is, this cannot be emphasized enough, extremely bad.
(How do we know the pirate is gay if he’s just posing on a plate? Listen. Fully 100% to stereotype, but he is. He is gay. There’s an energy. That pirate is a flaming homosexual. That pirate has sex with men and does it frequently. That pirate is fucking gay, all right, he just is.)
Anyway. The point is that this is an extremely cheap and ugly plate with a poorly-executed painting of pirate on it who is like a nine on the Kinsey scale.
My grandmother and her sister fought a blood feud over this plate for their entire lives. It would be on the wall in my grandma’s house, and then her sister would visit, and then it would be gone. She’d visit her sister and the plate would be on the wall and her sister would pretend it had always been there. She would steal it back, hang it up, and, when her sister visited, pretend it had always been there. This continued for DECADES.
When the sister died, the Gay Pirate Plate lived triumphantly in my grandmother’s house. And then my grandmother died. And my aunt, who had lived with her and been her carer throughout her life, rightfully inherited their house.
We visit my aunt after the funeral and stay with her for a week or two.
Me, my sister, and our dad. Her brother.
The three of us look at each other. We don’t say anything. We studiously avoid making eye contact with the Gay Pirate Plate mounted proud and ugly on the wall. We notice one another studiously avoiding looking at it. We notice one another noticing. We say nothing. We come to a silent consensus. We pack up to leave. We get in the van. Our aunt comes out to say goodbye. I loudly announce I need to use the restroom before we leave. She obviously stays outside to continue talking to my dad.
I take down the Gay Pirate Plate, stuff it under my oversized sweatshirt, go outside, and get in the van. She happily waves goodbye as we drive off.
Two days later my dad gets a phone call that opens with hysterical laughter and “You FUCKING ASSHOLE did you seriously STEAL THE PLATE–”
Anyway. The gay pirate plate lives in my dad’s house currently.
But he’s trying to get me and my sister out to visit him. And plate mounts are cheap.

To all the fic writers out there that are not currently writing. Either it's because of RL, health, writer's block or something has happened that have disheartened you. Thank you for what you've written, and don't ever feel pressured or stressed - fanfic should be something good for all of us; both reader and writer. You're more important than what you do, but thank you for what you've done!

Tumblr please just let me permanently snooze Tumblr Live. If I wanted pretentious naked people on my dash I’d go to OnlyFans.

Character Creation with Tarot
Tarot is essentially a form of storytelling. Pull the cards, and based on several factors and interpretations, you'll reach an answer to your question. While I am in absolutely no way any sort of expert in tarot (in fact, I don’t even have all my cards memorized yet), I enjoy the stories that they tell, often about me or whoever I'm reading for, and the insight that can bring.
So today I want to try something and create both a protagonist (today) and their antagonist (wednesday!) from a random pull of tarot cards. Will it work? I have no idea, but it might be fun, and could even inspire something completely different.
Reminder that tarot has no real one answer, and the story we tell today is told through my own perspective and interpretation of the cards as I see them. Feel free to make your own interpretation of the cards as the formation of your protagonist, or if you have a tarot deck, to draw your own cards using the same method!
I’ll be using the character creation technique I talked about here:
Objective: Queen of Coins
Material gain
Maybe something around making other people happy
Goal: 13 Death
Change or transformation
To become something one is not already—a restart or refresh, onto a new chapter!
Need: Eight of Swords Reverse
Need to stop limiting self
Needs to believe in themselves, break the cycle of negative self-talk—feel worthy of what they desire
Disrupting: Eight of Cups
Stagnated
Fear of change/lack of confidence
Formative: Six of Cups
Nostalgia
Maybe a bright, happy childhood that no longer lives up to the present
From this, I take an unsatisfied character who is stuck in a much happier past but lacks the confidence to change their situation. They dream of transforming into someone who could—someone confident with agency! To do this, they believe they need to gain something, or add something to someone else’s life—rather than focusing on their internal journey.
But that’s just my take on it. Let me know if you try out this method for yourself or if anything comes from it, good luck!

Just remember. There is no such thing as a fake geek girl. There are only fake geek boys. Science fiction was invented by a woman.

Have you REALLY lost your scissors if you aren't walking around making scissor motions with your fingers in an attempt to lure them back out?
