Video
vimeo
Recently my original project took a small backseat for a wonderful opportunity.  The company Free People in which I was gearing my project towards actually evolved into me producing a video for the local boutique located that had just opened this past September at Easton Town Center.  All over the country stores were asked to create a piece showcasing the city in which their store was located. Chelsea Andrews a stylist who I was originally working with as well introduced me to this news once the store in which she employed received the e-mail.  Over the span of two and a half weeks I worked closely with Chelsea as well as Rachel Wagoner on producing a video to showcase a sneak peak of our beautiful up and coming city of Columbus.
Our footage spanned from a friends farm located in Johnstown, Ohio to Downtown Columbus in the heart of the city.  Just as we intended in my original plan, we decided to showcase each girl in their styled environments. The musical accompaniment was a piece created by Berklee Graduate and American composer Keith Kenniff
who is known for his ambient electronic music. He also goes by the names Helios, Goldmund, Mint Julep and Meadows. His piece "Years" was featured for the Facebook app "Lookback", where users could view the highlights of their "Facebook career" so-to-speak.

Meadow ( Amber Rapier) was shot on the farm located in Johnstown which is on the same property as the Kennel Club USA of Ohio.  Lou ( Rachel Van Wagoner ) was shot at DeMonyes Greenhouse, what I consider to be one of Columbus’ best kept secret. Ginger ( Olivia Megalis ) was shot on Discovery Bridge in the historic Franklinton district and Finally Candy ( Chelsea Andrews ) at Jeffrey Mansion located on the outskirts of Columbus.  For how much time we had to put this together I was extremely proud of the results we ended up with.  Out of this I also learned how to use the Adobe program premiere which was a fun and interesting new learning experience, especially coming from the realm of final cut pro.  The final video was due on April 1st, and the last I expected was for the video to stand out.  About a week ago after almost two weeks had passed I had only assumed that my video didn’t make the cut, especially since all I could think about was the products the L.A. and NYC stores were most likely going to produce.  On Monday the 14th, I contacted Chelsea inquiring about the results, little did I know at that very moment she received the news herself. WE WON! I was shocked, overjoyed and in disbelief all at the same time.
This coming June an event will be held for the winning store and from what I’ve been told, Ohio will be specifically incorporated in the June catalog for Free People.  More details will be added as I am informed.

Currently I am located in Australia for two weeks after attending a traditional Hindu Bengali wedding (a truly spectacular experience and something I was so grateful to be apart of) and have been traveling around from Melbourne, Port Douglas to Sydney and I will arrive back on the 29th of April.  From there my original Project Free People will pick back up with a greater drive than before. While I’ve been here I’ve been contacting my team as much as possible (wifi permitting - data charges sure are expensive! ).

Today I visited Colette Mihocik's home and studio.  Colette will be apart of the design team as well.  For this first set (Meadow) we are going to wrap the 8'x10' set in paper where Colette will illustrate these pine trees in a mountain like scheme.

Progress Update No. 4
Set construction has slowed down due to the intricacy of building a round stage.  the fabric has been reordered and should arrive in a week or so.  I'm working with fellow designer Ryun Harrison on figuring out how to get a fluid dip dye "ombre".
I purchased Wine colored Rit Dye for the fabric.  This weekend I will be traveling to Athens, OH to scout locations for "Meadow". All of the garments for this shoot have come into possession.  As far as set backs, a conflict has risen with "Candy" aka Paige, since she lives in Boston, MA the distance has proved to be inconvenient and our schedules are adding up which has caused me to search elsewhere for new talent.
Two out of the three cloud structures have been built (photo to be uploaded after editing).  The cotton stuffing material I originally purchased does not look as "real" as I would hope.  Cotton battening has been suggested as a more "cloud" like texture and I will be experimenting with that today as well.
Today I will be posting the rest of the outfits for Ginger and Lou.    I'm meeting with Chelsea and Amber this coming Friday to go over looks for Molly as well as work on connecting a color palette together.
This past weekend I began shooting some interior opening shots for "Candy".  This Sunday I'm going to cut together a quick 30 second opening teaser.  The idea of releasing small teasers to build up to the final product has also come to mind.
In regards to the typography for each of the girls, Karl has hit the nail on the head and from here on we shall work on tweaking them into a final edit.  At the end of the month I will be going on another tour of a studio space to hold all of the production and for the shoot.

Progress Update No. 3
I met with Karl Fekete yesterday and went over some of the descriptors and styles of each girl in order for him to create relatable title slates and branding for each girl.
The fabric I ordered got sent back to the warehouse and I'm waiting for it to reship. paper mache balloons failed, instead i'm going in the direction of plaster wrap which is proving to be more sturdy.  One of the models has dropped availability and now I'm currently looking for a new girl to play the role of "Candy".
As of now the girls for each shoot are
Sydney Miller as Ginger
Amber Rapier as Meadow
A three day putting has been planned in Hocking Hills mid March.  This is where the short video "Meadow" will be shot. Currently I am gathering extras for this shoot.

Tyler has built 2/3 of the background. The final panel is being built and all it will need after that is support beams and hinges.   From there we will figure the dimensions for the stage.  Fabric for the background is being shipped to my house and upon arrival I will begin dip dye it a wine red and finally upholster it onto the frame.

Progress Update. 2
Before any of this can become a reality the structure and stage need to be constructed.  I'm working with Tyler Dunlavy and Samantha Harthroorn for set production and design.  This Sunday (2/2) Tyler and I will be traveling to the nearest Lowes to collect and gather materials.  At the moment Tyler is creative miniature sets to get a visual.  We will also be building a rounded stage.  A studio space is currently being hunted for for storage and work purposes.  An obstacle i'm facing currently is where to store and where the building will take place and how (as well as working around everyone's schedules).  Still hammering out the details but possibly by mid to late february a studio space at 400 WEST RICH will be acquired.  This Friday (1/31) evening I'm meeting with Chelsea Andrews who is acting as lead stylist within the project. Chelsea currently works at Free People while she studies Marketing at The Ohio State University We will be going over the looks for each of the girls so far - note styles may change as project progresses due to availability.
The set we are building is a fold 10'x8' paneled backdrop. As far as the dimensions of the
***drafts and sketches to be scanned in.

Project Free People Proposal
Free People -
A boutique like bohemian lifestyle brand that sells women’s clothing, accessories, shoes, intimates and swimwear. Apart of the company URBN which is also the founders of Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie.
Within brand they created five different females that embodied the five basic styles of free people.  Meadow the bohemian, Candy the sweetheart,  Lou the tomboy, Ginger the party girl and finally Sandy the beach babe.
For this collaborative project course I will be working with graphic designers, fine artists, photographers, set designers, cinematographers, fashion designers as well as stylists from the brand. There will be give different sets being created that will be environments relating to the style of clothing.  There will be an editorial shoot accompanied by short stories for each of the girls that embody the style and the lifestyle.  Through the use of music to help set the tone and style, the use of filters and subtly muted color, the feeling of an ethereal like day dream will be created. Each piece will be separated by very different and distinct color palettes that still flow together.  The videos will flow in and out of the studio setting as well as the natural environment.  Each video will be a quick day-in-the-life video, heavily based on aesthetic and the articles of clothing.
Meadow.
“ Meadow is a true free spirit. Intriguing and enchanting, the understated magic within her rarely goes unnoticed. This dreamer wanders the earth in bohemian looks that channel the beauty of decades past. “
Candy.
“ Candy has a light hearted hearted ethereal approach to life. She is romantic, girly, and drawn to all things femme. Her philosophy delicate, lovely, lacey. ”
Lou.
“ Lou’s carefree style reflects her laid-back, down to earth spirit. Exploring the world or hanging out with the guys, Lou’s almost always in a pair of jeans and a worn-in tee. “
Ginger.
“ Naturally alluring and completely charming, Ginger has a magnetic effect wherever she goes. She’s in her element at parties and intimate affairs, never turning down a wild night spent under the stars. "
Sandy.
“  Sandy dreams of an eternal summer spent roaming the earth’s most beautiful beaches. With salt water in her hair and sand between her toes, she gravitates toward effortless silhouettes that catch the sea breeze.
