Omega!son goes into his very first heat, and it's a rough one. He has to spend most of his time in his room. His dad, who is an alpha, gets really stressed and worked up during his son's heat, he tries to tell himself that it's only because he's worried for his son. It doesn't help that his son is constantly asking his dad to help him

he can hear his son, oh god he can, whining. he's making dinner, his son's favorite, to cheer him up. to. concentrate on anything but this. he grips the pot so tight, his knuckles turn white, stands there, in front of the stove, trying desperately to turn out the noises, the soft huffs, the- Trying to tell himself that his body doesn't react to them, then, that it's normal that it does. he's an alpha, so his blood sings, his heart beats in his throat, because he can hear the omega- can. can smell him. he turns up the heat, reaches for the pasta. watches his hands working. breathes in and out. until he can hear his son call for him, a tiny voice, inaudible if he weren't finetuned to him, intuitively. he closes his eyes, sends a prayer to whomever might listen, turns of the stove and finally goes to him.

I love epistolary fanfic - or even fic that just uses letters as a major plot point somehow.

Give me a Regency AU with characters passing secret love notes to each other. Give me a modern day fic with emails going back and forth. Give me a fic that starts off with an email, then goes to DMs, then phone calls, then meeting in person.

Give me characters who have distinct writing styles and choices. Give me characters who aren't comfortable writing at all but it's the only thing that they've got and god damn it, they have something that needs to be said!

Give me someone finding an old bundle of letters and reading about a long lost friendship from generations before. Give me a misplaced address and someone reading a letter that they think is for them - but it isn't! - and it still ends up changing their life.
