Why platypus?

Simply put they're my favorite animal! They're so small and cute and unique as animals!

Longly put is that it's my favorite animal AND it makes a good trans metaphor To elaborate, the platypus is a Monotreme, which is a small group of 2 living groups (the others being the echidnas) of mammals that lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young. So because they Lay eggs like a bird/reptile Are mammals who feed their young with milk from mammary glands Have venomous spurs like a reptile Have electrolocation like some species of sharks Have a bill like a bird The platypus doesn't fit the "basic biology" definition of a mammal and they just are unapologetically outside of what people would thing is required to be one. It's a very trans narrative of not fitting into the tight boxes people want to use to define people/animals but still being yourself

Hmmm, I was never great at listening to a huge variety of music until more recently I was a "nightcore playlist in the background" girl until a couple years ago. But I've been obsessed with Reinaeiry's music for a while, both her covers and her original stuff is SO good (and very gay) Also, for less "serious" music taste, I love TheRealSullyG I dunno why the "whaaaa" of otamatones is so appealing to me, but they're great and his production value is top notch

A lot of brewskis have noticed my slow down these last few months and this is the major reason for it. Yes, a person at my work has been following me at the beginnings of my shifts and has not gotten any repercussion. I don't feel safe anymore. My partner and I are moving, but even still we don't feel comfortable with me working at that place, however it's difficult as I don't have a college degree and this place pays more than most jobs around here.

We have some plans in place, but I'm financially struggling. I hate to do this, but I created a ko-fi to help with relocation and to help stifle some of the burden of quitting this job. All the money would go towards things like rent, groceries, and car payments. I do have a Patreon, but it isn't bringing in enough to help with this issue and I'm debating about deleting it due to me not being able to keep up with things over there.

Anything helps, but don't donate if you can't---reading this and sharing it will be a massive help still <3

If Sophie was forced to transition to save her life, wouldn't that cause, like, species dysphoria? Cuz like, unlike the others, she didn't become a mouse to be more comfortable with her body. Is that something you'll be exploring in later chapters?

Yes she does experience species dysphoria (hence not going 100% changed like most others seem to be planning on doing)

I do want to touch on it in a future comic, but at the moment the silly stuff that comes with being a chaotic little mouse has been more fun first lol

also, having to write/draw/etc pages of my main comic gets priority so Mouse stuff comes when I have the extra time and an exciting idea

Not really an ask, but a day late for TDOV, I wanted to say thank you for making Prettiest Platypus, when I first found your page, I binged it all in like 2 days and read every new page/panel/episode or whatever they're called. It means a lot to me and if you ever publish a real life Prettiest Platypus children's book, I think I speak for a lot of us that it'd be well received <3

As someone who isn't a furry (sorry everyone) I loved the idea of exploration of self through the animal HRT-verse and took it in my own way. Which is an exploration of the lengths I'd go through to not have to deal with some of my chronic health problems

Also you could just be asking what they're talking about in the cookie comic, and the joke is there is a children's book called "If you give a mouse a cookie" where the mouse keeps asking for more and more things after giving it a cookie. Drawing that page and sharing it with other artists/friends made me realize that the book is not as commonly known world-wide as I'd thought

Did Sophie's voice change during Mouse HRT? Did it rise in pitch so it's like a mouse squeak?

Yep! Her voice went up to about the pitch of pre-first puberty, so she sounds like a squeaky kid (She thinks she still has her original vocal range though)
