The courthouse building for the Tribunal de Commerce,
Paris, France,
Built between 1859 and 1865 on a design by architect Antoine-Nicolas Bailly, inspired by the Renaissance Palazzo della Loggia in Brescia. It was ceremoniously inaugurated by Napoleon III on 26 December 1865.
I've had some great success doing free Lenormand card readings for friends, strangers, and Tumblrites, and now I've put them up on my etsy shop! I'm excited! Send me an order thru etsy if you'd like a reading!
A common misconception: Brutalist architecture was actually named after the distinctive stylistic choice of leaving the raw construction material visible on the building - the name derives from french brut, meaning "raw", or "unprocessed" - and actually has no connection with the idea of making buildings that look brutal on purpose.
You're getting it mixed up with turbobrutalism, which is an architectural style invented by me, 35 minutes ago, which focuses entirely on constructing concrete skyscrapers, wizard towers and other evil buildings, that are specifically intended to look raw and savage as hell.
The finished result! I’m so ridiculously proud and pleased with how it turned out!
This was an ordinary door + 3 pieces of mdf board. I carved and sculpted them with my dremel multitool, inspired by the carvings I saw in Bali, mounted them and then painted and sanded the whole thing in several layers before adding a final tint of gold. 💙
The door and side panel I sculpted myself. The top carving is from Bali.
