Friday, September 12 2014 - updates on bug fixes
RESOLVED ISSUES
Lightroom plugin - photos exported via the plugin did not reflect keywords and captions in Picturelife - FIXED. If you don't have the plugin yet, get it from our download page - picturelife.com/download
IPTC data - recent uploads did not contain IPTC tags in Picturelife - FIXED. This affected a small number of users - if you're one of them, please contact [email protected] so we can run the fix for your library.
Resets back online - we don't recommend using this feature often but if you absolutely need to reset your library or albums or external accounts, we've re-enabled resets (in your Advanced Account Settings). Resets are permanent. Read the instructions VERY CAREFULLY before proceeding.
OPEN ISSUES
iOS rotated photos - we've notified Aviary, who provides our super great photo editor, of the issue. For the time being we recommend using the editor on the Picturelife website to rotate your photos. I'll provide an update on this issue as soon as I have one.
Don't have our free iOS app? What?! Go get it from the iTunes store, it's awesome!

Friday, August 22 2014 - failed uploads fixed, empty iPhoto albums populated, and more.
NEW STUFF:
Sharing your Picturelife storage? View and manage pending and accepted invites in your account settings on the Picturelife website.
RECENTLY RESOLVED ISSUES:
Mac upload error - Picturelife cannot find that media - resolved. If you have failed uploads in the Smartloader Preferences > Account tab under Show Local Library/Failed, select all and click retry selected items to clear the failed queue.
Picturelife iPhoto albums not fully populated - fixed. If you're still seeing the issue, wait a few days- we're working through a backlog so it may take a few days before your empty albums are populated. If by Tuesday afternoon (8/26)you're still seeing empty albums, contact [email protected]. Please include a sample Picturelife album ID number in the email.
KNOWN ISSUES:
Resets currently disabled - Still offline (click to learn more) I'll update this blog once account resets are available again.
OTHER STUFF:
If you haven't already, check out our Help Center or spread the knowledge to someone you've referred! New tutorials, guides, and new stuff is being added every day. If there's a tutorial you'd like to see or a topic you'd like to learn more about, just let us know!.
Have a lovely weekend, my friends. <3

Thursday, August 14 2014 - a few known bugs
Quick update. We became aware of a few issues earlier this week and are working on fixes. Keep an eye on this blog for updates.
Lightroom plugin - keywords and tags are not being imported from Lightroom via the Picturelife plugin
Mac Smartloader - "Failed to upload - Picturelife cannot find that photo" - known issue, working on a fix
Resets are offline - we will re-enable this feature as soon as possible, though of course we don't encourage using it regularly (or even more than once). If you're using the Reset feature often, we are doing something wrong. Let us know what we can do better, so that a Reset isn't a necessary feature.
As always, thanks for your patience.

Friday August 8th 2014 - where has the summer gone?!
Time is flying. For example, I just noticed that I haven't posted an update in two weeks! I could have sworn I posted yesterday...
Anyhoo, on to the fun stuff. We've been focused on bug fixing and improving your sharing experience, so there's not a ton to share at this time. Standout items:
NEW FEATURES / CHANGE LOG / BUG FIXES:
Facebook posting is back online! To post: Web - select photo > click Share / share arrow > select Facebook > post! iOS: select photo > tap and hold > drag to Share > tap Facebook > post!
Upgrade "use different credit card" link wasn't working - fixed. Page in question: https://picturelife.com/checkout?upgrade=true
Embed image link - ellipsis not appearing - flash either didn't load in the browser or it's disabled. Fix: enable Flash in your browser plugins, or try just refreshing the page.
Mini "Albums Search" now includes Smart Albums (did you even know you could search for albums in the navigation bar??)
Tumblr media
KNOWN BUGS (working on a fix):
Some RAW file previews not quite optimal. Original files are safe (download original) but the Picturelife preview is less than optimal. We don't need any samples (thank you though), we just ask for your patience!
iOS app - rotate portrait photo to landscape, replace photo - aspect ratio is off, resulting in a stretched image. Keep in mind - Picturelife never deletes the original photo, even if you select "replace" after editing. That replaces what you see- it does not replace the original media, which is still safely stored unless you delete the file from your library (and empty the Picturelife Trash).
iOS - disabling upload over cellular doesn't always work. Temporary fix: Picturelife iOS app > Settings > toggle Upload over Cellular ON then toggle Upload over Cellular OFF.
If you're experiencing any of the following in the iOS app, open Help > tap Clear Local Cache:
Recent uploads in aren't showing up in Timeline (web, desktop, or iOS uploads)
Backup status is stuck on "waiting for wifi"
Backup status is stuck on "uploading X items" for an extended period of time>
Background uploading is ON but it doesn't seem to be working
As always, there's lots of information in our Help Center, and always more being added. Spread the word far and wide! And if you would like to see a specific tutorial, send us a note at [email protected]!
OH! We just got AWESOME Picturelife stickers from Sticker Giant. Want one? Show Picturelife some love - and be sure to mention @Stickergiant!

Monday, July 14 2014 - The Picturelife Updates issue (i.e. new issues and their status)
Thank you for all of your awesome feedback on the recent Picturelife updates (the good, the bad, and the sorta ugly...). We sincerely welcome it all. Here you'll find a list of open issues, along with their current status. I'll update the blog as they're fixed and deployed.
WEB
Issue: Video player not working correctly - learn more
Status: FIXED! Videos should now play immediately when you click the Play button on the web! (I'm pretty excited about this fix, if you can't tell).
Issue: Web editor - the editor opens for a second, then closes - unable to edit photos via the web app
Status: FIXED! Another one I'm excited about!
Issue / Feature Request Batch rotating is unavailable - and single image rotating is inconvenient (several clicks to rotate one photo)
Status: We use (and love) Aviary's photo editor with Picturelife - but we realize rotating photos can take up a bit of time through the editor. We're looking into solutions that will enable batch rotating via the web app - no ETA, but it's top of the list.
Issue / Feature Request: can't share albums with Family contacts
Status: Many of the sharing features are offline as we update the way sharing works in general - keep an eye out for announcements over the next few weeks!
ACCOUNTS & SUBSCRIPTIONS
Issue: Shared storage accounts - recipient's user interface does not reflect the correct available storage amount
Status: Top priority, working on a fix today
iOS / iPHONE / iPAD
Issue: Can't do actions with multiple pictures at once
Status: We know you want to share multiple photos at once, add them to an album, hide, etc. We took multi-select offline temporarily with the new version of the iOS app because we wanted to make it much better and more fitting with the new interface. We apologize for the inconvenience! It is a top priority of ours, and it should be back in August 2014. In the meantime, you can always still multi-select in the web app!
Issue: Can't use app without granting camera roll access
Status: Sorry about that! We've already submitted an update to the app store that will enable you to log into a Picturelife account and use the app without granting camera roll access. It should be available this week.
Issue: Photos not getting uploaded / showing up in iOS
Status: Top priority - trying to reproduce. Once we can reproduce, we'll deploy a fix.
ANDROID
Issue: Selective folder backup is unavailable, resulting in unwanted photos and videos backed up to Picturelife
Status: Top priority - working on a solution this week
Issue: Albums are temporarily offline
Status: They'll return within the next 3-4 weeks
Issue: Large libraries are difficult to navigate
Status: We're adding a few features that will make this easier to do via Android - such as Search, Timeline scroll, Albums, etc.
Getting our Help Center resources to you - a question:
If you've read this far, thank you. QUESTION: Would you be interested in receiving an opt-in weekly (or bi-monthly) "Picturelife Help Center Resources" email, with tips on using Picturelife, short video tutorials, how-tos on new features, etc? Please click here to fill out a 10 second short survey - enter your email address in the survey for some bonus storage as a thank you for your feedback!

Completed Scheduled Maintenance - Saturday, June 21st, 2014 3AM EDT
Update: Happy to report the maintenance was completed by 3:07AM EDT. Because of the maintenance some photo uploads may be temporarily delayed, but our systems are working hard. Thanks for your patience.
Picturelife will be temporarily unavailable for two hours as of 3AM EDT on Saturday, June 21st, 2014 for a brief maintenance.
Rest assured knowing that even though the Picturelife service is temporarily down, your uploaded photos, videos, and memories are safe and secure and will be available again as soon as the maintenance is complete.
You will be unable to use Picturelife to upload or view photos or videos during this time. This is applies to all Picturelife clients and apps (Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Lightroom, Social Network Imports, etc.) As soon as the maintenance is complete, Picturelife services will be working doubly as hard to continue where they left off.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you, and we'll do our best to update our Twitter status throughout the maintenance to keep you informed.
While you're waiting for the maintenance to be complete, why not start getting your Picturelife Pro legs by reading up on our Knowledge Base tutorials and how-tos? Or catch up on our Picturelife blog posts?

Friday, June 20th 2014 - scheduled maintenance (tomorrow, Jun 21 2014 at 3am), bug fixes, cool new features
A reminder - Picturelife will be temporarily unavailable for two hours as of 3AM EDT on Saturday, June 21st, 2014 for brief maintenance. Learn more: plfe.me/1srDmBi

Side note: the Picturelife team has been working their tushies off on several updates - some of which are live, some of which you'll be seeing soon. If you ever want to tell them how much you love 'em, send some <3 on the Twitters: @picturelife
Awesome stuff:
Lightroom plugin for Picturelife! You asked, we answered. We're pretty excited about this new feature and hope you love it as much as we do.
Download the plugin!
Learn how to install and use the plugin!
Read the blog post from our CEO!
Picturelife.com now works with IE 10 on Windows 7 - if you don't yet have IE 10, make sure you're running Service Pack 1 or higher and download it from Microsoft directly. Then log back in to Picturelife from your shiny new IE 10 browser and check it out!
Images loaded faster on the web app  - our CTO busted out some magic tricks, which (should) make your photos load much faster when you login via the web interface at Picturelife.com
Known issues & workarounds:
Video playback in the web app - annoying, but your videos themselves are unaffected - there's also a quick workaround:
Login to your Picturelife account from a desktop web browser (Picturelife.com/login)
From a grid view (All Pictures, within an album), double click the video thumbnail to open one of your videos
Use your keyboard right/left arrows to arrow forward to the next media in the sequence.
Next, arrow back to the video.
Hit the Play button again.
The video should start playing. You can also try viewing the video in your mobile Picturelife app.
Happy Friday, happy #takeyourdogtoworkday, happy last day of spring (and first day of summer), and all that fun stuff :)

Friday, May 23 2014 - iOS log out bugs & Mac client crashes
A couple of live bugs that we’re aware of any working on:
1. iOS app - share a video via email and the app logs you out. Annoying, we agree - thankfully you can still share videos, photos, albums, etc via the web app!
2. iOS app - logged out after app updates. To prevent this for the time being, open iOS device Settings > General > Background App Refresh and DISABLE background app refresh for Picturelife. We’ll address this in a future app update.
3. Mac app v402 crashes on startup - we’re on top of it. Again, you can upload files (up to 100mb in size) via the web app. Click here to to learn more.
I’ll post an update as soon as these issues are resolved.
Please keep in mind that, as this is a holiday weekend, support staff will also be taking some well-deserved time off. Emergencies will be addressed, as always, and please check out our Knowledge Base to learn more about using Picturelife!
OH! I almost forgot! Referred anyone to Picturelife lately? Get them started with our shiny New User FAQ section!
And now, I leave you with this #Picturelife #Friday thought: http://instagram.com/p/oWgqG_Evy7/

Friday, May 16 2014 - Search, web app slider, iOS update, Lightroom...
Edited. Because I can read a calendar. Nothing fancy this week (wait... am I EVER fancy? no.) Just a few quick updates to send you into the weekend.
New things
Picturelife's Instagram account is back in action - follow us at http://instagram.com/picturelife (it's been a while since we've added new photos but we'll be posting lots more!)
Squished bugs
iOS app v2.7.4 - fixed a bug that caused the app to scan the camera roll every time Picturelife was opened. Update your existing app or download the free app from the iTunes app store
Search - due to ongoing upgrades, there's been occasional Search downtime. All is running smoothly now but you may experience erratic behavior over the weekend. Nothing to worry about and Super Keith (search guru) is working hard (I mean the guy works his butt off) to improve your Search experience.
Slider in the web app - it was there... then it was gone... and now it's back. We think it just went for a quick joyride.
Add / edit existing card for non-US billing addresses - if you were getting this error, please go ahead and add a new credit card or edit your existing card Picturelife.com/settings/subscription. If you're STILL having trouble, we give up. NO WE DONT JUST KIDDING - email [email protected] with a screenshot of the error, if there is one (please DO NOT include your credit card information in the email)
Other stuff
Thanks to everyone who reached out about beta testing the Lightroom plugin! We're still looking for WINDOWS LIGHTROOM beta testers. If you use Lightroom 4 or 5 and Picturelife for Windows, we'd love to hear from you - email [email protected] with Lightroom version, Windows version, and camera > Lightroom > Picturelife workflow.

Friday, May 9 2014 - bugs, releases, features, call for Lightroom plugin beta testers
This update also encompasses updates from last week - I was at the super awesome UserConf (all about making the support / community / feedback experience better for you) here in Chicago and didn't have a chance to update.
Features & Updates
Get your DropBox on! Import your photos directly from DropBox to your Picturelife library! It's super easy to set up:
By default the importer will upload fom your "Photos" and "Camera Uploads" folders. If this is all you want, go ahead and authenticate here! https://picturelife.com/auth/dropbox?import=true
If you want to first decide which folders we import from, start by authenticating: https://picturelife.com/auth/dropbox
Then head to our advanced settings page for Dropbox and select the folders you want us to track: https://picturelife.com/settings/dropbox
And then activate the import by authenticating again with this option: https://picturelife.com/auth/dropbox?import=true
That's it! Your photos and videos from Dropbox should start appearing soon!
Bug Fixes
Mac desktop app v402 - fixed a bug that caused a Library storage to cache Image Capture. If you still find that Picturelife is taking up disk space, make sure Picturelife is not uploading anything (could be those iPhone pics), quit the app, and drag the following folder to the trash: Library > Picturelife > Storage > Image Capture
Places (web app only) - click to view media resulted in black screen - fixed.
Picturelife plug-in for Lightroom - call for beta testers
We are looking for a few good (and vocal) men and women to join our Lightroom plugin beta testing team. Do you use Mac or Windows? Do you love Lightroom and love Picturelife even more? Are you often the loudest person in the room? If you answered yes to at least 2 of those 3 (yes, I count that as 3) questions, please email [email protected] with the following information:
Computer type & OS version on which Lightroom is installed (if you have it on both Windows and Mac, please let me know!)
Lightroom version
Top 1-2 cameras that you use with Lightroom
Additional information (optional):
Brief explanation of your current Camera -> Lightroom -> Picturelife workflow
Format you tend to shoot in (RAW, JPEG, RAW+JPEG)
Thanks in advance and we look forward to hearing from you!

Friday, April 18 2014 - Picturelife stuff
New features stuff:
Fresh Android goodness! Version 1.3.1 is out - updates include bug fixes (crashes, exclude system folder from backup, no empty pictures uploaded anymore) and new features (better Timeline). Get it here in the Google Play store!
Public page albums - increased photos/page - each page now shows a max of 90 photos / page. Learn more about using your public page.
Known Issues stuff:
Videos not playing in Chrome - error message “This video is not available. Please try again later” - known issue, only happens in Chrome. Videos should work in the iOS app, via shared link, and in Safari, Opera, and Internet Explorer
Sharing albums to non Picturelife users shows them a black page (we’re working on it). In the meantime, you should check out public page sharing - public pages enable easy sharing via private or public URL. Learn more about using your public page.
Random stuff:
Adjust Time & DateWhen changing dates, be careful not to change them to future dates - it won’t work!
Hidden photos - is a photo missing that you SWEAR was just there, like, 5 seconds ago? If so, check your hidden photos. On the web: search for “thare are hidden” - from the (blank) results, open the drop down menu and select “Show hidden photos”. Like magic, all of your hidden photos will appear. To re-hide, just refresh the page.
Have a great weekend!
