I saw this question posed on tiktok, but I think Tumblr would really enjoy it too.
If a fae creature offered to give one million dollars for a bone chosen at random, how many bones would you allow them to take?
Light clarifications; The fae is not the one choosing the bones. The bone is taken at random. Each bone, no matter the size or importance, is worth a full million dollars. You must also declare the exact number first, you can't go bone-by-bone. You either say 2 or you say 10, you can't work your way up to a higher number. The bones are removed instantaneously, and the money is given immediately as well. You will not get in government trouble for acquiring the money.

And just people with absolute shit luck, from severe medical debt to disasters that destroy your home and leave you fighting desperately with insurance companies to a dozen other crisis that you have no control over. The reality is that many, many people are one shitty moment away from ending up homeless. The lucky ones have support systems to fall back on, but many others don't.
And as a society, there should be a fallback option for every single person that doesn't.
I've been homeless. My experience was less shitty than some and was brief, but it absolutely sucks. I wouldn't wish it on anyone, for any fucking reason. I wouldn't even if the dickhead conservatives were right (and they're not) that homeless people are all lazy drug addicts or whatever crummy stereotype they are leaning on these days to argue that they deserve it because at the end of the day, they're all people. They're all human. They're all deserving of a roof over their heads and a safe place to rest. And no one, regardless of their choices or circumstances, ever deserves to be homeless.
The fact that homelessness is controversial tells you everything you need to know about conservatives.

I imagine in the beginning when Danny would accidentally use his powers all the time invisibility was a problem but not in a way he thought it would be.
He develops this almost unanimous vote from the student body of being such a wallflower that until he speaks you have no idea he's part of a conversation, you have no idea he's even there. Danny's just vibing not even realising he's invisible until he goes to speak and it automatically shuts off the ghostly instinct to not be seen and bam. He's there. And everyone just takes it as "oh shit I didn't see him there what a quiet kid" and not as "oh shit I didn't see him there he was literally not there, ghost, ghost, ghost". And he does it in the reverse too, which was how he realised he was doing it. He says his piece, attention naturally slides off him and the instinct returns, Danny is gone.
Classmate: Yea it was hilarious how Mr Lancer dived under his desk, it was just the box ghost I cant- hey were did Fenton go?
Danny standing beside them: I'm right here?
Classmate: OH GOD...!! Dude. I did not see you there. Did you move?
Danny: I... don't think so?
Classmate: Man we need to put a flag on you or something you're always just popping up out of no where.
Danny: I- I've been here the whole time.
Classmate: My eyes literally pass over you unless you're talking. You're the ultimate wallflower.
Danny: >:/

Danny later realising he's been turning invisible and then gaslighting his classmates into thinking he hasn't been turning invisible and it's been working like... "Well damn."
Now he absolutely uses that reputation to his advantage.
Mr Lancer: You weren't in class today.
Danny: I literally was though.
Mr Lancer: ... No I didn't see you.
Danny who absolutely wasn't there: I was there though.
Mr Lancer: ... ...
Danny who was fighting the box ghost in the school storage room: You fell off your chair and Dash laughed so hard he fell off his chair.
Mr Lancer: Manson or Foley could have told you that.
Danny 'they totally did tell me that' Fenton: 🥺 Do I blend into the walls that much... Or ... Do you think I'd lie about being in class when clearly not?
Mr 'clearly easy to gaslight' Lancer: ... Perhaps I need to get glasses. Just uh... Just be a bit more active in class next time.
Danny already texting Sam to say it worked: Okie ☺️

In writing, epithets ("the taller man"/"the blonde"/etc) are inherently dehumanizing, in that they remove a character's name and identity, and instead focus on this other quality.
Which can be an extremely effective device within narration!
They can work very well for characters whose names the narrator doesn't know yet (especially to differentiate between two or more). How specific the epithet is can signal to the reader how important the character is going to be later on, and whether they should dedicate bandwidth to remembering them for later ("the bearded man" is much less likely to show up again than "the man with the angel tattoo")
They can indicate when characters stop being as an individual and instead embody their Role, like a detective choosing to think of their lover simply as The Thief when arresting them, or a royal character being referred to as The Queen when she's acting on behalf of the state
They can reveal the narrator's biases by repeatedly drawing attention to a particular quality that singles them out in the narrator's mind
But these only work if the epithet used is how the narrator primarily identifies that character. Which is why it's so jarring to see a lot of common epithets in intimate moments-- because it conveys that the main character is primarily thinking of their lover/best friend/etc in terms of their height or age or hair color.

Gonna need yall to stop putting Biden is Just As Bad propaganda on my dash. Had to unfollow someone because I don’t want to a start a fight with them over it, but I’m about to bite the next person who puts that shit in front of me.
If you don’t like Biden, vote in your god damn local and mid term elections for third party or further left candidates so that we get better democratic candidates for future elections. But this one is already fucking decided, and I’m NOT ending up under a Trump led dictatorship because yall value protecting your personal sense of moral purity over the collective good. Whether it offends your personal morals to vote for Biden is IRRELEVANT in the face of the alternative.
This isn’t a lesser of two evils situation. One guy sucks. The other guy is LITERALLY PLANNING TO OVERTHROW OUR DEMOCRACY AND INSTALL HIMSELF AS A PUTIN STYLE DICTATOR.
PLEASE look up Project 2025 and stop acting like abstaining is some kind of personal ethical decision!

there are still people in the notes of that thread failing to grasp that this isn't a hypothetical for me. I know trans people up here who had their front door covered with 'I ❤️ JKR' and 'adult human female' stickers. there are active terf groups who harrass queer cafés and bookshops and use her name as an in-group identifier on signs and t-shirts at protests and at pride. she actually personally funded a trans exclusionary women's crisis centre in edinburgh, after her followers hounded and harrassed an inclusive service into shutting down. she is a tangible threat to trans people here.
