Yesterday and Today style photos of the Beatles and Liverpool by photographer, Keith Jones.
‘Ask anybody from New York to Nepal, Auckland to the Arctic, to name someone or something from Liverpool and I imagine John, Paul, George and Ringo would be right out in front.
‘I feel our city should be proud and thankful for their music, their impact and their message, and blending their image back into the modern day scenes makes me smile and also wish I had been around to be in that queue for a lunchtime show at The Cavern Club!’
I went back as close to the same vantage point to ‘rephotograph’ the same view, to compare the scenes.
‘It struck me that I found it equally fascinating whether the scene was unchanged in one hundred years, completely different or now a mixture of modern and historic elements.
‘I’m lucky to live and work here in that the City of Liverpool has an amazing history, with everything from incredibly grand architecture from the most prosperous times in the 19th Century, to the most modern designs, quite often already placed side by side.
‘When I get the chance to ‘change the timeline’ by blending in people from different eras to a modern day scene, it fascinates me to imagine how life was for city residents in decades gone by.’   [Keith Jones, Daily Mail, 7th Nov 2016]

REMEMBERING JOHN LENNON | 1940-∞ “It’s just too difficult [to talk about]. I feel that if I said anything about John, I would have to sit here for five days and say it all. Or I don’t want to say anything.”- Paul McCartney

Rest in peace, John Lennon (October 9th, 1940 - December 8th, 1980) “I’m not afraid of death because I don’t believe in it. It’s just getting out of one car, and into another.”

No, I’m looking forward to death. Death is a rebirth. And I’m looking forward to it as much I suppose as I looked forward to being born. You know, you might have a few physical pains as you pass over, maybe not. But I’m looking forward to it. I don’t want to be killed. I’m looking forward to a natural death.

let’s all just sit back & enjoy john lennon’s music for a little while today- whether it be his solo music, or what he did in his time in the beatles. if you feel inclined- take a moment to think of the people who knew him personally & how they must miss him dearly to this day.
if his impact on you extends past the contents of his music, do not feel embarrassed to share how you feel today. you will be understood. let yourself indulge in your feelings for a while. on the other hand, if you prefer to keep all that to yourself, do not feel you have to talk about it if that would make you uncomfortable. john lennon fans don’t need any more needless pressure put on us, especially not today.
all i ask is, however you’re remembering john lennon on december 8th this year, that you do it with respect & love. if you’re feeling particularly sad today, remember your feelings/emotions are ones to be sympathized with.
lastly-
to john lennon: wherever death has taken you, i send you a big thank you & a hug. i have a huge soft spot for you & your music. the world hasn’t forgotten you- not even forty years since you were selfishly taken from it. i hope you know that you are still deeply cherished by many. i wish that you rest peacefully.
with love, joan ❤️

PAUL AND LINDA in the music video of Three Legs.
Paul hadn’t done any riding before he met Linda but she found him very easy to teach. “He’s a natural, his horse responds easily to him. He can ride her with no bridle or saddle.” Paul’s favourite horse is Honor, an ex show jumper with a very kind temperament. One thing which never fails to excite and impress Linda is the sight of Paul riding Honor bareback with no bridle. There seems to be some kind of telepathic communication between Honor and Paul and she responds to him without the usual aids. Linda describes one particular instance of this: “One night after a drive to town and a bit of wine, we returned home to the horses who were waiting at the gate. Paul jumped onto his horse and galloped her up the field, guiding her with just the halter. What a beautiful sight that was!”
