New Legendary Overwatch Skins Coming January 23 

8 new base legendary skins (i.e. not from an event) are coming next week.  Most are related to the new Blizzard World map, i.e. Overwatch characters dressed up like people from other blizzard games.  Which are you most looking forward to?

Halloween Event

I haven’t played in a couple weeks, the first few days of the event was my last.  I thought I missed my chance at getting the skins I wanted - but nope, it is still live for some reason -- must be a timezone thing.  So nabbed Dragon Sym, and Cultist Zen, and old Pumpkin Reaper.

Season 6 - Placement gave me a Career High!

Woot!  1955 was my placement.  Sure, still silver, but it looks like the changes they’ve made are going to work out well for me. The matches themselves weren’t super, I tried a few different things (like the new Junkrat and going back to Zarya to counter the junk) but then just went back to D.Va and did well enough.  None of my stats look amazing, but that’s ok, all off balanced by my new ranking.

One thing different - I did them all in one go, the kids are out today so I got to play during a friday midday, and did them early in the season.  before I was always a bit ‘scared’ of doing them and would spread them out and wait a week or two before trying. 

All that and I forget to get a screenshot of the actual placement.  I was giddy and processing it.

Season 5 ended with a 53-29-3 record, a 64.6% win rate.  And I got a new career high too 1934, almost hit gold at the end of the season.

I’m thinking playing on the ‘alt’ account, and placing mid-gold gave me the confidence that I was missing to push me through the ELO hell?  Constantly hearing Jeff in the back of my head saying the system works and we’ve placed you were you are meant to be was discouraging.  With more thinking about their own ‘lets place them lower so they can climb’ thing and I don’t think it works for a guy like me who plays less than 100 matches a season?  Another thing is I’m not obsessing over the SR each match, or even the end of session win-rate.  Also I’m mixing in some arcade and mystery heroes to keep it fun.

I mixed the heroes up a bit, but definetlly kicked butt with D.Va -- here’s hoping the new changes won’t mess me up too much. Maybe I’ll find another hero to love?  I even tried Mercy a few rounds, and with her changes in coming maybe I’ll be able to play her too more often?

Missed the end of summer games

Totally messed that up.  I didn’t get to buy the things I didn’t get in loot boxes.  Silly me.  Only really wanted the epic skins from last year that I didn’t have, mostly D.Va’s.  Shucks.  Ah well.  More credits for next year.

End of season tilt :-(

So they say with the new shorter seasons starting with 6 they imagine that that feeling of extra competition at the start will last longer?  But won’t we also get the end of season throwing that much more regularily too?  I’d like to get a new season high, not have to deal with a quiter/leaver/thrower 5 matches in a row.  Hmpf.

I’m been playing a lot of D.Va lately, and have always liked her even back when Defensive Matrix was a push on and it stayed on for 8 seconds.  Like the idea of firing when flying, and firing when defensive matrix is up.  But the lower time limit... yeah I guess it was needed :-(

Placed 1000SR above last season on my ‘alt’.

So I finished placements on my alt Overwatch account.  I placed 1000SR above where I finished last season on my ‘main’.  Hmmmm... yeah.  Feels better sorta.  At least I’m nearly exactly ‘average’ at 2265 (I think I need to be 2330 for that, but they say you place a few hundred SR lower so you can climb?).  Still 500 SR above my main account this season which has been climbing.  Hmmm.... The games weren’t really any better though.  Final two I got stuck with the same pair which instalocked McCree & Doomfist and never seemed to be around when you’d expect them to be. 

My original idea of one-tricking Sym didn’t work out either, just felt like I needed to be more a ‘team player’ :-(  D.Va it is.  Still really high percentile in most areas too - mdeals, elims, deathers, obj kills etc all in the top 10%.
