AU Meme | Pete’s World - Afternoon Naps
They’ve taken to lazy afternoon naps, well, the Doctor has at least. She can always tell when he’s dozing, lids heavy and yawns every other word, but he refuses to go lie down by himself, not wanting to be without her for another moment. This is his one life, his one finite life, and he’s not going to waste a second of it away from her if he can help it.
Eventually, she stops bringing it up and simply sets up shop in bed, keeping a permanent charger by the nightstand and headphones tucked away in a nightstand drawer. It becomes an unspoken routine between the two of them, one they faithfully keep.
When she finally succumbs to the soft afternoon glow as well, she places the laptop on the floor and stretches out next to him, slightly curling into his side. Her last sight before closing her eyes is the soft, warm light playing off the Doctor’s face, and his first sight is the light on hers.

ACOFAS Spoilers!! (ranty, just be warned)
Okay, these are my thoughts 5 seconds after reading the book, so they might change etc-but I am so fed up with Feyre and Rhysand right now! I love how happy they are and everything-but considering what’s going on with the other characters, they honestly seem like such self-righteous, unforgiving people to me.
I get that they hate Tamlin. I get that Rhysand‘s fed up with Nesta. I get that Feyre has better stuff to do than helping her friends and family sort out their problems.
I get it to a certain fucking degree.
I think what bothers me most is Nesta‘s arch in this book. She starts drinking, drops a lot of weight, sleeps with countless men (???? That is such a red flag considering her character description in the previous books!) and isolates herself. She stops taking care of body and her surroundings, battles the horrible memories form the war/being turned into a fae and has to mourn the death of her father. She‘s obviously deeply depressed. She‘d obviously unable to escape that cycle of depression. She obviously should NOT live alone in a run-down house, drinking alcohol and having sex with men whose names she can‘t remember while dealing with PTSD.
But Feyre fucking lets her. For literal months. Yes, she and Elain „try“ to talk to her, but honestly, Nesta does not seem like a priority on Feyre‘s list. More like a bothersome footnote. To quote Feyre: „Nesta had chosen her own home across the city, one that I opted not to think about for too long.“ Feyre acts awkwardly when Nesta shows up for Winter solstice. She doesn‘t have a present for her. She makes no more effort than necessary.
You may say, why should she? Nesta doesn‘t have a present either, she makes no effort either, she‘s rude and lives off her sister‘s money. True.
But she is fucking depressed. And when you‘re depressed, you don‘t think logically. She‘s past caring. She doesn‘t feel anything at all anymore. As her sister, it‘s Feyre’s fucking job to help her and to find her way back to life. And to make her feel at least a little but welcome. But as Nesta notes, Rhysand actively doesn‘t like her and she has no real purpose in Velaris. His double standard towards Nesta and Elain is also deeply unfair.
Once again, why should Feyre help? Hasn‘t Nesta done the same to her? Hasn‘t she abandonded her little sister to the woods? What does Feyre owe her?
1) It‘s Feyre‘s fault that Nesta was turned into a fae. Admittedly, Feyre didn‘t choose that, but she‘s the reason for Nesta‘s situation.
2) Nesta and Elain killed the king of Hybern. They won that fucking war for them. They lost their father. They are NOT warriors. As Cassian notes, it takes years to recover from battle. Everybody owes them some fucking respect. Everyone, ESPECIALLY Rhysand, should be able to acknowledge that Nesta suffers from severe PTSD and depression.
3) Feyre swims in money, she has all the power, she‘s found her mate, she has amazing friends, there‘s literally nothing in her life that she lacks. Yes, she can absolutely blame Nesta for abandoning the family back when they were humans. But that situation was fucking different. Nesta had little to no power to help the family back then. The fact that Rhysand still blames her for „abandoning“ the family (blame the Dad!) is honestly so ridiculous. Feyre obviously forgave her, Nesta was obviously already a broken person during those years. Rhysand, you have no BUSINESS forgiving Nesta for anything, because she hasn‘t done anything to you. Stay in your lane.
Feyre could VERY WELL have Nesta taken out of that house and helped her. By force, if necessary. Make her your priority. Don’t rest until you’ve brought her back.
Feyre doesn‘t, though.
She opts not think about her sister too much.
It was honestly a bit difficult to read Feyre‘s parts- look how great my life is!- and then see how completely lost Nesta is, has been for months, and will be for several more if we include that excerpt from the end.
The same goes for Tamlin. For the love of god, that man has paid for all the things he‘s done. He‘s utterly alone, has no power, no love, nobody who cares about him, and Rhysand still shows up to brag about his great life. Honestly, why? Why does he still resent Tamlin that much? Because Tamlin didn‘t do anything as Feyre wasted away with each day? As she battled PTSD? As she lost herself and all her will to live?
ISN‘T THAT PRECISELY WHAT YOU‘RE DOING TO NESTA ARCHERON RIGHT NOW?????
What makes a hero truly great in my eyes is compassion. The ability to understand others, even when they do bad things. The ability to forgive. To be the bigger person. That‘s why I support a character. I love those who recognize the moment their enemy is on the ground and then show that they are better. That they are able to overcome hatred and resentment.
Rhysand is obviously not capable of that, not towards Tamlin and also not towards Nesta.
Feyre also seems more annoyed with Nesta than actually concerned. As we can read in the excerpt at the end, she throws Nesta out of Velaris because she can‘t deal with her anymore. Throws her to the Illyrian war camps, and to Cassian, so that he can take care of Nesta.
And he will manage. Nesta will get better. But I won‘t get over the fact that Feyre stood and watched Nesta waste away, like Tamlin watched her waste away and was villanized for the next three books as if he had skinned somebody alive. I won‘t forget that Feyre and Rhysand got rid of Nesta in the way you get rid of an unwanted problem.
I can‘t forget that they „opted not to think about her too much“ when she was at her worst.

The way rhysand has treated Nesta in acofas I’m not questioning his feminism, honor, kindness, love for others, I’m denying it’s existence.
And no he is not a morally grey character. He was that in Acotar only. And later in Acomaf and Acowar he was completely turned into a golden boy for feyre who can do no wrong. And in acofas he, a man literally explains feminism to us and then fucking commands Nesta and threatens her and smiles.
“Still trembled to be near him. The most powerful High Lord in history.
Rhys scented that fear. She knew it from the second one side of his mouth curled up in a cruel smile.”
This is not morally grey this is just complete asshole behavior. Stop exusing his behaviour by saying he’s morally grey. This is completely being a dick. Rhysand is a bloody motherfucking bastard.

Does anyone else ever just pause to look back on ACOMAF and think way too much about Cassian vowing to protect Nesta and her people? TO DIE FOR HER, if need be.  How much that must have meant to Nesta, who feels so deeply that it hurts her. Who seems unable to imagine people returning her affection the same way.  How utterly sincere Cassian is, how willing to make that sacrifice to protect her. No matter that it would mean leaving behind his family, this life he miraculously survived to have. It’s worth it to him- to die in defense of those who need it, to die for this one fiery, raging woman. Let’s be real, if Cassian had been the one guarding that house when Hybern came to take them, he would have died before he let it happen.  And Nesta would rather die with him, than leave him alone. The bastard boy, thrown away, who grew up to be this protective, bright man, telling her to go, to run, and she stays. That moment on the battlefield is a shout of love, the marker of every bit of potential we as readers hope to see between them. But we’ve got to remember, Cassian would have died for her too. It’s the other half, the echo of the same promise.

Nesta looked at the king with death twining around his hands, then down at Cassian. And covered Cassian’s body with her own. Cassian went still - then his hand slid over her back. Together. They’d go together. . ❤️ . #acowar #acomaf #acotar #nessian #nesta #cassian #nestaarcheron #acourtofdreams #acourtofwingsandruin #sarahjmaas #feysand #rhysand #feyre

ACOTAR characters as pieces of advice
[DISCLAIMER: This is not my own writing, they are just random quotes and advices I thought befitting to the particular character given their arc]
Feyre: “You control your destiny. Be fearless. Don’t ever let others decide who and what you are going to become”
Mor: “Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says ‘Oh crap, she’s up’”
Amren: “Make them stop and stare. Be savage, not average”
Nesta: “Have some fire. Be unstoppable. Be a force of nature. Be better than anyone else and don’t give a damn to what anyone thinks. You’re on your own; be on your own”
Elain: “Be your own kind of beautiful. Simplicity is the key to brilliance”
Rhys: “Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help and brave enough to ask for it. Stop worrying about what you have to lose and start focusing on what you’re going to gain”
Azriel: “Let the past die. Kill it, if you have to. That’s the only way to become who you are meant to be”
Cassian: “Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. Believe in yourself and you’ll walk out of the ashes with your head held high”
Helion: “Be proud of who you are and not ashamed of how someone else sees you. Love yourself, for you are your own person”
Lucien: “Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a brand new opportunity to rebuild what you truly want”
Tamlin: “You have the power to say, ‘This is not how my story will end’”
Viviane: “Make no apologies for following your heart, setting high standards, and being yourself”
Kallias: “Be silent and cold like ice, beautiful like a snowflake and as raging and intense as a blizzard” (PS I wrote this one on my own and I must say I’m quite proud of it k thanks bye)
Tarquin: “Stand up for what you believe in, even if it means standing alone. Fight for the justice you and your people deserve”
Suriel: “Never let it be said that dreams are a waste of one’s time, for dreams are our realities in waiting. In dreams, we plant the seeds of our future”
BONUS:
Amarantha: “The world is your oyster. Make lemonade.”

Always remember that Nesta almost gave in to the mating bond when she was Human. It was that strong.
Not even Feyre and Rhysand experienced that level of ‘holy hell I can barely control myself right now’ when she was Human.
When Nesta and Cassian finally hook up, it’s gonna be the end of fucking days! Enemy armies are gonna spontaneously combust. Azriel is going into hiding. Mor is going to be mute for weeks. Amren will laugh herself sick.

I want to know WTF happened to them. So excited about that fanfiction. I loved the start of it.
Excerpt (please be soft with me, I know my writing isn’t what it used to be)
“At the risk of sounding like a friendly cliché, I won’t ask you if you wish to talk about it.” Rhys shrugged casually, though he sincerely would be a support at a second’s notice.
“I don’t,” Nesta clipped back in a dry tone.
For minutes, the two sat in utter quiet, avoiding one another’s gaze with the worst feigned casual airs.
Going back on her resolve, Nesta broke the silence. “Just- Has Azriel ever spoken about what happened?”
Straightening his jaw and posture, Rhys shakily set down a pillow he’d been toying with. “You and I both know that Azriel would more than likely rip whoever was dumb enough to ask about Him to unrecognizable shreds with his shadows.”

Being a writer is writing a complete scene in your head while you eat breakfast, thinking no need to write now, I’ll remember later, and then staring at a blank page, cursing yourself for not taking notes.
