Heartstopper Webtoon

I finished all of Heartstopper in a day and IT WAS SO GOOD‼️ They story handles eating disorders, depression, and lbgt oppression so well, and it was so cute 😭 I'm so excited for the next chapter 😩☝and it's gonna get a Netflix series 😭😭😭

Why Nene Yashiro is a lesbian with comp-het

⚠️potentially spoilers ahead⚠️

1. She decided all of her crushes, she said so herself, "did I just want someone to like me so I'd feel better about myseld?" Classic comp-het, she's never had an actual crush (well until Hanako but we'll get back to that) she likes the idea of being in a relationship, not the person she wants to be in the relationship with.

2. Even when Yashiro does get an actual crush, it's unattainable, that's a common thing with comp-het. Hanako is a ghost there's no world where they could be together (that nene knows of, cause I doubt that death is an option in Nene's mind). The two may be able to be together for a short period of time, but Nene will get older, Hanako will not, he's forever stuck at 14 mentally and physically and Nene knows that.

3. I'm gay and I said so.

Opinion

⚠️TW- discussions of grooming and sexual explotation and abuse⚠️

The over sexualization of women, especially on social media leads girls to not only get groomed, but to become groomers. They end up ingaging in sexual conversations with people who are way to young to be having those conversations (ie 11/12 yr olds). And half the time they don't realize it's wrong cause they were having those conversations when they were 11/12, it's a cycle of abuse that no one analogizes.

Fugo Analysis-

⚠️TW- discussions of s3xual assault

Fugo's interesting because his character was never completed , because his character was dropped we never get to see him grow he is stuck at being a man with uncontrollable rage unable to grow from his past forever. Which in all honesty very sad, his entire life is depressing in true jojo part five passion.

You first have to understand his past which is very different depending on what you read/watch. However we do know that his parents pushed him to be very smart and in the end after an event whether it be the death of his grandmother or being assaulted by his teachers pushed him over the end and caused him to let out his, uncontrollable rage causing his family to shun him and baccarati to find him.

His rage is very interesting because it's a fault in more ways than one. Its not only, you know, ~uncontrollable rage~ the rage itself causes an interal struggle where he never believes he can push himself.

Its like he's constantly walking on egg shells but instead of picking them up he just stand there in fear of breaking more.

This makes his and the others fear of purple haze even more deep. Because purple haze is the literal personification of his one true fault. And by not utilizing it and instead being afraid of it, he keeps himself trapped. And everyone around him is also afraid of purple haze further instilling that idea within him.

This all makes him leaving the group that much more depressing, because in the end he held himself back. He never pushed passed his fear of himself and in the end he was left behind. He never got to grow like his friends he held himself back.

What his character could have been is even more interesting. Instead of staying in place or picking up the eggshells, he stepped on them and didn't care. That betral would have meant he couldn't overcome his fear of himself, so he accepted that he should be feared.

It would have been a portrail of the abused becoming the abuser. Making the story even more tragic. He would have betrayed his friends as his teacher betrayed him along with everyone else in his life.

But because he was dropped we never got to see him grow, weather that be in a good or bad way, instead his still stuck in the same place. Still in fear of himself, his stand, and his past. Never being able to trust himself or others and that is the true tragedy of Fugo.

Narancia Analysis-

Narancia is another depressing tale at heart, because this is jojo. His entire personality is based around him being the funny happy go lucky friend, but if you look a little deeper its really just a coping mechanism. So many people in his life has abandoned and betrayed him, so he doesn't want to get close enough to anyone so no one can hurt him.

Hes been abandoned and betrayed so many times in life, his trauma causes his almost stupidly childlike state (that and his lack of education) he acts so young because he never got to be, he's making up for lost time.

However he can be strong when he needs to be, this shows what his hardships have turned him into, a true fighter.

But it also made him afraid of attachments. But when he meet buccarati and the others they show him what it truly means to be a friend. For the first time he understands what it means to be a friend, no strings attached.

However, just as things are finally looking up for Narancia, he dies. He never gets to live the life he always dreamed, he never got to see Fugo one more time, or listen to music. He's gone its over. Because jojo doesn't like miracles. Narancia died because death is inevitable, it doesn't have to be fair, it just is. Narancias death displayed that perfectly. Jojo doesn't let you live in a fantasy, the owner of friendship can't stop the inevitable.
