I don't like either of these romantic pairings but as far as encouraging Rory/Jo to write a book about what they care about (their families) and seeing Rory/Jo for who they are, Jess and Bhaer have a lot in common
I can't believe this is the first time I mentally connected Rory writing a book called "Gilmore Girls" about her family in the Revival to Jo March writing a book called "Little Women" about HER family in the movies (originally "My Beth" in the book), but now I can't stop thinking about it. And now I ALSO can't stop thinking about the implication that this means that Jess is Rory's Friedrich Bhaer. 🥺😭

I feel like I can't relate to gilmore girls season memes because I watch gilmore girls all year round. Constantly. I don't start rewatching in the fall because I haven't stopped watching it since I first started 6 years ago.
happy september 1st it’s officially gilmore season

there is something significant that suzanne begins thg with an interaction between gale, katniss, and madge. and in that interaction, gale specifically calls out madge for having only five entries, implying that her chances of going to the capitol are nonexistent (thg, 12). or at least less than him, who has forty-two entries (thg, 13).
suzanne integrates this scene with madge in the novel to show (1) the class division throughout the district that creates animosity. and although gale knows that it is not her fault, that doesn't stop him from digging into her (thg, 13). and it also emphasizes (2) the illusion that some people are safe, or benefit in this system.
yet, you know who had also only five entries? just like madge? peeta. and prim only had one entry. the two people whose names were called that year. so when the reaping happens, it proves just one thing. no one is safe. not a merchant's son. not even a girl with only one slip in the bowl.
and it just goes to emphasize the theme that follows katniss's throughout the novel: who does this system benefit? one that she finally reaches her conclusion at the end: that "it benefits no one to live in a world where these things happen" (mj, 321). because no one is safe in a world where people murder children in order to solve their differences. and that means no one. not a capitolite. not a mayor's daughter. and not even a young medic whose sister has done everything in her power to keep her safe.

The way Lenny and Midge love eachother in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The way Sam and Sadie love eachother in Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. The way Syd and Carmy love eachother in The Bear.
Something about love between two people who share a creative and professional pursuit seems so amazing to me. Someone who loves you partially because they can recognize your intellect and ambition. Someone who sees part of themself in you. They know more about you and how your mind works than most other people because they're knowledgeable about the same things you are, they have been where you are, they have thought some of the same things you have. Whether romantic or platonic, I feel like this kind of love is just on another level.

like I have perpetual hunger games brainrot but. I do think so much about how a majority of the capitol citizens were content to spend like 75 years celebrating, promoting, betting on, and just generally enjoying the brutal and unnecessary murders of 23 living children, but when peeta dropped the baby bomb and they were under the impression that a fetus was going to be in the arena w its living (16-17 year old!!!) mother?? there were riots and demands for the games to be canceled. it took a nonexistent unborn baby for the capitol citizens to openly question and criticize the games and that was absolutely not an accident on suzanne collins part.

katniss is so funny she’s like “oh i know i care about peeta but i don’t know if i love him” then they have to sedate her every time she thinks of peeta being tortured

Peeta: Would That I
This song encapsulates Peeta's love for Katniss perfectly. Their love is inevitable and natural. As eternal as a flame and as ethereal as a willow tree.
True that I saw her hair like The branch of a tree Willow dancin' on air before covering me Under garden and calicos Over canopy dappled long ago True that love in withdrawal Was the weepin' of me That the sound of the Saw must be known by the tree Must be felt 'fore the fight, the call Friendly fire, but that was long ago
I particularly like "Under garden and calicos/over canopy dappled long ago" because it gets at the inevitability of Katniss and Peeta and it references Peeta's art. In my head, it conjures an image of a painting created long ago depicting Katniss and Peeta in their meadow.
With the roar of the fire, my heart rose to its feet Like the ashes of ash, I saw rise in the heat Settled soft and as pure as snow I fell in love with the fire long ago With each love I cut loose, I was never the same Watching still-living roots be consumed by the flame I was fixed on your hand of gold Layin' waste to my lovin' long ago
Peeta isn't afraid of Katniss's fire. He's not afraid to get his fingers burned in the flames if it means he can be close to her and protect her. He sees her fire inspire a nation (watching still-living roots be consumed by the flames) but he never takes his focus off of her (I was fixed on your hand of gold). He doesn't try to control or manipulate her fire. He loves her softly and purely.
So in awe, there I stood as you licked off the grain Though I've handled the wood, I still worship the flame As long as amber of ember glows All the "would" that I'd loved is long ago
He's seen the darkest parts of her (handled the wood) yet he still loves her (worships the flame).

People don’t realize the hunger games franchise is actually funny. Like the movies make it all serious but in the books there’s literally a scene where a guy is giving another guy cpr and Katniss thought they were kissing and was literally like “weird timing but live your truth ig”

Hot take but… “Gale was a teen soldier who got brainwashed, by a manipulative dictator, into the idea that sacrificing a small number of troops was worth it to definitively stop the government that had spent years ruining the lives of him and his people” and “Gale’s gross disregard for human life directly led to the death of Prim and thousands of other civilians including children, and Katniss is justified in her anger and has no obligation to ever forgive him” are two statements that can and should coexist together.

Actually no I’m so not done talking about how rigged the quell was. Because I’ve seen people referring to it as “hunger games all stars.” That was 1000% intentional. Not only is it these weirdly coincidental duos that are reaped together (even from districts with tons of victors). For instance, a brother and sister duo, and two different known couples- it’s ALSO people who won their own games by extraordinary means. It IS the all stars, anyone who poses the biggest threat to the capitol. To eliminate all but one would be to eliminate any threat of the capitol’s fall. All of them arguably have the most reason for rebellion as well- it was a truly genius move that probably would’ve worked if it weren’t for Plutarch’s plan.
