Finished this one up last night! I’m working on another one for the Good Omens server prompt this week, but I wanted to share this one.
If this has taught me anything, it’s that watercolor paper absolutely sucks for colored pencils. Only eight more to go! I’m gonna see it through to the end despite my poor decision making.
Here’s my contribution for the gothstuckzine that came out a while ago
Did i use this as an excuse to draw fishnets and leather clothes? yeah. yeah i did.
that being said there’s a bunch of amazing drawings and stories compiled in this fanzine so definitely check it out if you haven’t!
even if it’s obscured by the moon!! it’s the quality of light rather than only the quantity—even during an eclipse sunlight is very high energy and looking directly at it will burn your retinas and can cause permanent vision loss!! so don’t do it unless you have proper eyewear!!!
Just kidding because I changed my mind and I want to make her school outfit now.
It’s iconic.
Today I looked at possibilities for garments, with all the layering going on. I’m going with quasi historical underclothes: 17th century inspired chemise, but with a crinoline for the super puffy skirt and all its panels and layers. The white pieces will be separates because I want to be able to make her light armor version and those sleeves will be comfortable rolled up to fit under there.
For the trim, I am thinking of stabilizing with interfacing and couching on a bit of trim. I don’t want to risk cricut vinyl peeling off or melting.
Other outfits I like for her: brewing clothes and dance practice. I like brewing clothes for the relative simplicity of the dress— front closing bodice and kerchief— but the embroidery is work intensive and idk what the upper sleeves are doing. For the whirling outfit, it is pretty and relatively simple, but the decorations at the neckline are intimidating. I would change the sleeves to add long cuffs at the ends. Idk why they drew her with short sleeves when we always see nobles in long sleeves anyway. I would love to make the jewelry though!
Cosplay Plans for 2024:
My Myne cosplay will be with her Apprentice Shrine Maiden Ceremonial Robes. It’s nice and recognizable to even anime only fans, and i like the play off of japanese shrine mainden with the hakama skirt and long sleeves.
I’m thinking either braid/trim, embroidery over cord, or cricut shiny silver vinyl for the
For accessories, I like the green tassel for spring but also I want to make red roses for a winter hair accessory. Maybe I’ll add other colors for each of the seasons divine colors.
In any case, I’ve loved Honzuki since it first aired in 2020. Both the anime and then the light novels have given me such joy through the entirety of my grad school journey. And I love the crafty aspect of it all :)
I've officially been designing t-shirts full-time for 5 years! Here's a design from my job to both celebrate that and remind you that good work requires breaks 🖤
I changed my mind about the archnoble from Jossbrenner. She is adorable and she can stay lmao
Idk what it is, I always lose steam at the side stories. I love reading about Roze/myne’s antics and then it’s like “here’s the sovereign knights commander. Want to hear his POV?” Or a retainer or the opposite political faction or a random student from J—.
I enjoy the side stories most from more main characters who give us insight on Roze/Myne’s chaos’s wake— Hannelore, Lestilaut, Ferdinand, Fran, Harmut, Clarissa, Benno, Johann, literally any of her family members (esp Effa, Gunter, Tuuli, Kamil, Kardstet, Cornelius, Eckart, even Sylvester, Melchior). I even enjoyed the archlibrarians last volume, which I was not expecting. Ironically I enjoy Anastatius’, but Hildebrand is such a slog to get through.
