Review: Lovely War by Julie Berry
Review: Lovely War by JulieĀ Berry
[book-info]
Ā Iāll admit that this was partially a cover buy for me, although it was a cover buy because it was so obviously historical and the pink coat screamed romance so thatās all it takes to draw me in sometimes. I bought this one around the same time that I bought and read another novelthat I didnāt really get on with. Because of that, it took me a lot longer to get around to reading thisā¦

Anticipated September Releases
So this is something Iāve wanted to do for a while now, partly to help myself keep tracks of new releases Iām interested in and partly because I honestly just want an excuse to talk more about books.
September is a pretty hectic month for publishing apparently, because thereās a lot of releases this month and so Iām pretty much 100% certain that Iāve missed some. I might do a follow-up post toā¦

Beccaās Bookoplathon, Space Opera September, Buzzwordathon &Ā More
So Iāve decided that I want to join and participate in a couple of different readathons this month. Specifically Beccaās Bookoplathon and Space Opera September(this is the prompt video) (who are both month-long readathons) as well as Buzzwordathon.Ā
I sort of want to see if I can fit in any shorter readathons as well, but I think Iāll pick my books for the three I mentioned first and seeā¦

nick: i wasn't trying to hurt you
mae: sometimes when you pull knives on people, they get this impression that you're going to hurt them, and then they're completely terrified. crazy, i know!
nick: okay. look. *unsheathes one of his knives*
jamie: which part of 'completely terrified' did you translate to 'show us your knives, nick!' don't show me your knives, nick. i have no interest in your knives.
nick: this is a quillon dagger. that's a knife with a sword handle. i like it because it has a good grip for stabbing.
jamie: why do you say these things? is it to make me sad?
nick: i didn't have you cornered. you could've run. and this dagger doesn't have an even weight distribution; it's absolute rubbish for throwing. if i had any intention of hurting you, i'd have used a knife i could throw.
jamie: i will remember those words always. i may try to forget them, but i sense that i won't be able to.

March TBR.
So I decided to go ahead and use March as my ācatch upā month like I mentioned in my post about the Sequel-a-thon. I have so many books that Iāve gotten distracted from and stopped in th middle of that I figure focusing on finshing some wouldnāt be a bad idea.
I also figure it works well while doing a readathon since most of these books are already started, although I havenāt gotten as far into all of them.
I do have more books that I could add if I finish these ones, but, between this and my Sequel-a-thon I didnāt want to overload either.
Also, just for funsies, I added a bit below showing how far Iām into each of these books.
Woven in Moonlight - 65%
I could probably finish this without trouble if Iām honest. The main reason Iām not is a combination of already kind of seeing where this is going (thoguh, of course I could be surprised!) as well as not really wanting to finish it. Still, I think this is the one Iām the furthest through and I really want to finish it.
The Scorpio Races - ~17%
Iām listening to this on audiobook and Iām mostly listening to that when Iām at work and Iām not 100% into audiobooks yet so it could take me awhile to finish it. Especially since Iām also listening to King of Attolia at the same time. I do own the physical copy of this as well, so maybe Iāll pick that up when Iām home if Iām not feeling like listening to anything.
From Lukov With Love - 46%
This is my palate cleanser/bus read and probably the book on this list that Iām the most relaxed about getting around to. I do really enjoy it, I just also enjoy picking it up whenever I need a break from what Iām currently reading as well.
Echoes Between Us - 20%
Technically this should probably be Say Youāll Remember Me instead since I havenāt finished that one yet but... This one spoke to me more so here we are. Iām not 100% sure how I feel about this one yet. Iām not feeling it, but Iām also not hating it if that makes sense? So yeah. Weāll see. I have liked so many other of Katie McGarryās books and I really want to like this, but yeah. Not sure yet.
Followers - 5%
This is probably the one Iāve read the least of so far. Itās here partly because I did stop for a bit, and partly because I just really want to sit down and read it because I am truly enjoying it. And either way, this is my dumb little challenge for myself so Iāll change the rules if I want to!
So yeah, thatās my current TBR picks for March. I might dump or pick up some other ones depending on how I fare. I have about 25-30 books that I need to finish or decide if Iām dnfāing so Iām not really lacking in choice!
That said, if it feels tedious or I donāt want to read anything, I am allowed to choose some other books instead.

This is my current TBR for the Sequel-a-thon that starts tomorrow (March 1st). I donāt actually have that many series I need to catch up on, but thatās because I have so many more books that I just need to finish so I might do a small readathon for myself focusing on those books sometime in March as well.
The King of Attolia is the only book I know Iāll be listening to on audio, the rest I donāt know yet. Aside from Obisidio these are also all fantasy so I have a feeling I might need to make sure that the rest of the books I read this month are a little more varied or Iāll probably be all fantasied out by the end of this.
The annoucement video for Sequel-a-thon is here in case youāre curious or would like to join!

#AYEARATHON - Pick a Color TBR
#AYEARATHON ā Pick a ColorĀ TBR
One of the things I wanted to do more of this year was to join readathons. Preferably ones that arenāt too long since I tend to falter a bit the longer they are.
One readathon that Iāve known of for awhile and wanted to join is the #AYEARATHON which is a readathon that happens once a month with different themes each month.
This months theme is to pick a color and read books with that coverā¦

5 Books I'd like to pick up again in 2020
5 Books Iād like to pick up again inĀ 2020
It happens more often than I care to admit, I pick up a book, fully intending to finish it ASAP and then, for whatever reason, I put it down and I donāt get back to it. Yet, itās not because I dislike it or that Iām having a hard/bad time reading it. Usually Iāve just gotten distracted by something else or I was in the mood for something different and just like that, I put it down.

GoodReads Choice Awards Mini Challenge
GoodReads Choice Awards Mini Challenge | 8 books I'm going to attempt to read in 2020 from 8 different categories in the GR Choice Awards.
I mentioned in my Reading Goals for 2020 that I wanted to attempt to reading at least 1 book from several different GoodReads Choice Awards categories in order to help me branch out a little.
I specifically didnāt say the winners of said categories since I might not want to read the winner, it might not be something Iām able to read or (this is unlikely) I might have already read it.
I didā¦
