#A13. In Pokémon Red and Blue, if the Player catches a Lickitung in an Ultra Ball, adds it to their Party and heads to the exact spot where Snorlax was blocking the bridge east of Vermillion City, then once there turns their Game Boy upside down and uses a Rare Candy on the Lickitung, it will evolve into Pokémon #160, Luigi. #407. In Generations I-III Players can use the move Cut to clear away tall grass around the Player, removing a 2x2 tile patch of grass in Generations I and II and a 3x3 tile patch of grass in Generation III.
In Pokémon Emerald, if the Pokémon that uses Cut has the ability Hyper Cutter, the area of cut grass will be larger, removing a 5x5 tile patch of grass instead. (X)

#406. In Generations IV and V, if the Player uses the move Chatter out of battle via the Party menu, the Player can recored audio using the Nintendo DS/3DS's microphone, setting the (albeit distorted) audio as Chatot's cry as well as when it uses Chatter. This also increases Chatter's chance of confusing the oponent. (X)

Where exactly do you find these cool facts?
A load are from stuff I’ve personally learnt over the years, but I also get many facts from Bulbapedia, as well as The Cutting Room Floor, and Did You Know Gaming is always a fountain of knowledge!

#405. In the Generation I Pokémon games, performing the "Mew Glitch" will cause an overworld sprite to permanently disappear.
This is due the game incorrectly believing the battle with Mew was a one-time stationary battle with a Pokémon (such as Mewtwo) after which the sprite (or "removable object") disappears so they can't be encountered again.
Once the battle is concluded, the game would usually delete the "removable object" the battle is associated with, but in the case of the Mew Glitch there isn't one, so it deletes one from the list of "removable objects" the game stored in memory when the Player entered the area.
The possible deleted sprites include items, Team Rocket Grunts, and even the NPC blocking the Unknown Dungeon allowing Players to access it early.
If there are no "removable objects" in the area, the game will delete one from the last area the Player was in that had them, such as Route 12's Snorlax, which enables Players to skip sections of the game. (X)(X)

im submitting this fact bc ive never seen anyone bring it up anywhere: sneasels beta design managed to hold on for a really long time before it was eventually changed. in fact, it lasted for so long that its palette managed to stay into the final games before finally getting changed in crystal- this is why sneasel has a vastly different palette in gs compared to the rest of the series
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi! Fact #296. showcases the pallet used for Gold and Silver's final release and the difference between those and Crystal's.
You're right, Sneasel's beta design was still in it even up to the 1999 Space World demo (around 3 months before GS's release).
Actually a fair few Gen II Pokémon in the 1999 demo use beta designs, look at Wobbufett and Larvitar's lmao

#404. In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, evolving a Pikachu, Cubone, or Exeggcute whilst in the Ultra Space Wilds will result in them evolving into their respective Kantonian form Riachu, Marowak, and Exuggutor instead of their Alolan forms unlike all other areas of the games. (X)

#403. In the mainline 3DS Pokémon games, the Vivillon form that appears in the games is determined by the Country and Region the Nintendo 3DS is set to.
Using the 3DS's Region, the games set a parameter when the game is first started, which permanently sets Vivillon's form for the save file, and prevents different forms appearing even if game is loaded into a different region 3DS.
By altering the save file, the parameter can be set to any of Vivillon's 20 forms, including the event exclusive "Fancy Pattern" or "Poké Ball Pattern" forms.
This also changes Scatterbug and Spewpa's forms, allowing them to evolve into the "Fancy Pattern" or "Poké Ball Pattern" forms. These Scatterbug and Spewpa forms have never been released on the 3DS games. (X)

#402. Although Scatterbug and Spewpa appear to not have any form differences, internal data shows that they have 20 forms each. These forms determine which pattern Vivillon they will eventually evolve into.
However after being introduced in Pokémon Go, the Vivillon that Scatterbug and Spewpa evolve into is shown on the "EVOLVE" button, indicating their form. (X)

Is this blog dead?
Not yet!
IRL I've been suffering from Pokémon Burnout™. From an 8 month long personal project consisting of editing 1500+ files, to that one motherf****** stupid Mewtwo Tera raid I spent a solid month trying to solo, I've very much had enough of the Pocket Monsters.
I do wanna bring this blog back tho, maybe sometime January, but I'll be posting as and when rather than sticking to a schedule

#400. Magearna is the only Pokémon whose Shiny form has appeared in the anime but has not been available in any of the games.
It appears in “The Secret Princess!”, the 116th Episode of Pokémon the Series: Sun and Moon, where it was discovered inactive by Lillie inside of a cabinet in the family’s Melemele Island mansion, having been bought at antique store by her father, Mohn, prior to his disappearance. (X)(X)

#399. In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, a man on Four Island will give the Player stickers on their Trainer Card for achievements the Player has made.
The achievements are for the amount of times the Player has: entered the Hall of Fame, hatched a Pokémon Egg, and won a Link Battle. The achievements all have 4 tiers with the colour of the sticker changing with each tier. (X)
