Donna and Logan's marriage is open to an extent btw. Logan knows he can't contain her and he doesn't try to. His wife is the hottest fish this side of Ru'aun, and he isn't so shelfish as to deprive the world of her supreme sexy fishiness.

After he betrays the village, he's caught trying to flee the fight and is supposed to be put on trial, but he refuses to speak when Zane disappears. Molly doesn't have the heart to let them execute her son in spite of what he did, so he's instead exiled.
It's unknown where he is at the time, but I let these characters travel a lot. Maybe they'll find him in Gal'ruk or Tu'la. Maybe he never left Ru'aun. Who knows.

I think the reason I've been struggling to work on my rewrite is bc while the whole thing is character focused and character driven, I keep getting worried about other shit. Like yeah it's character driven but I should really have a map for the world they live in even if I couldn't give a shit. I know I can build one and I've been meaning to, but like. That doesn't matter to me.
I don't care about magic system either. I don't want to keep fleshing out side details, I want to write these bitches being sad and gay but all I can think about is fucking lore!!

Ooooh I really like this idea!! And to anyone from Tu'la it's a totally normal thing that they might not even realize the potential cruelty of because... gladiatorial combat is just basic sport?? What's everyone so upset about??
Despite going to Tu'la for less than favorable reasons I know that Katelyn would absolutely thrive there, she's so much like Menphia. And if we let Lucinda come with them (which we should) then there's so much you can do with how similar Lucinda and Menphia look. People think either one of them could be an incarnation of her for different reasons, and are actively encouraged to participate in these games before they inevitably get kidnapped/forced into it by the royal family.
Oh god if Lucinda and Katelyn were both thrown into the combat and eventually have to go up against each other,,, ough I'm gonna be sick,,, both of them are so destructive, so powerful, but they just don't have the capacity to hurt one another even if doing so is essential to their mission of gathering relics so The Shadow Lord can't. Gods the angst,,,
worldbuilding (kinda) hc:
menphia didnt have any kids so before she passed, she declared that each time a fury died, a fight to the death would be held between candidates would be held in the gladiator ring. whoever emerged victorious (think of the hunger games) became the holder of menphia's relic.
as time progressed, this became one of tu'la's biggest events and turned into a spectacle of sorts. the tu'lan royals throw parties and flaunt their wealth during parades in which the king would show off the possible furies, menphia's gladiators.
as fate would have it, aphmau and gang end up in tu’la just in time to watch it unfold, maybe even participate in.

This is why in my rewrite every ship is canon somehow. Maybe not in the "traditional relationship" sense, but we can all agree that's bullshit too. Relationship Anarchy ftw.
i think its really stupid how even in rewrites and even now in current day aphblur ppl still argue about which ship is superior. like. ????. i thought we all agreed ship wars are stupid and jesson should have never done the laurmau garmau aarmau whatever cuz the love trianhlebis stupid and pointless, so why do we keep upholding those ideas???

Oh my god Travis as a Phoenix Wright esque lawyer. He knows legal jargon and understands the system really well but he's always in such bizarre situations that he never knows what he's doing. Constantly flying by the seat of his pants. Everything one of the others in the group says on the stand makes his case even worse. They sound so guilty. He is fucked.
The idea of one of the main cast having to stand trial in Gal'ruk and Travis having to become a lawyer so they don't get the death penalty is really funny to me and is something I really want to try and put in my rewrite

I'm gonna keep it real with you, I don't organize things. All the information about my rewrite that exists in text form is on this side blog because I don't have a solid outline. I still haven't figured out how canon compliant I want to be in the main story, or if I want to veer off course into new territory more.
I just kinda... Started writing stuff and let my rewrite go where the words take me. One day I plan on organizing all my notes and scenes into a book on Reedsy a genuinely great alternative to Google Docs that I use for everything I write. The notes section is amazing for keeping track of ideas, and the way that it's broken up into chapters means I'm not going to give my pc a heart attack every time I open up documents that would be like 300 pages on google docs.
I'd recommend using it to start drafting out scene concepts, or using the notes section to start just writing out ideas you have. Make a folder of notes about Divine Warriors, another about Shadow Knights, ect. ect. And because of the chapter by chapter formatting, when you start writing it, if you decide to transfer it to AO3 or somewhere else for public consumption, it's really easy to transfer over. And it auto saves unlike AO3 so you aren't at risk of losing half a chapter in the middle of writing it because of hardware bull shit.
dear mcd rewriters, how do you guys keep everything organized and like. plan everything.
LIKE i have so many ideas but no idea how to set them up or organize them and i forget about so many things too.
im also thinking of maybe making a google doc template for it too and it would basically be like a production bible so maybe thats how ill get it to work BUT i wanna know how all of you guys do it because you always have sm detail

Transfem Bigender Garroth
After faking his death, Garroth has to start going by a different name and identity. He can keep the armor on, but he can't look or act the way he used to. He needs a new identity.
Garnet.
A female guard who has earned her guard rank despite nobody remembering her. Maybe old friends like Azura or Laurance recognize some of her... similarities to their old friend, but they never say anything about it. Just let it rest as a suspicion until Zane reveals the truth and Garnet stops hiding her face.
At that point, she expected to hate her old identity but... It's oddly freeing to grow out a beard. It feels nice to have people call her "Sir". Maybe Laurance refers to her as his boyfriend and it makes him an utterly useless mess. And when some people call her Garroth, it actually doesn't feel terrible. It feels normal, natural, and she responds to the name like he learned to respond to Garnet.
She/He Bigender Tranfem Garroth/Garnet
That is all thank you for coming to my TEDTalk

I don't know who this anon is but clearly they've been reading my drafts because this is exactly how Irene works in my rewrite. She was even not white (haven't landed on what flavor of not white yet) and the church was sure to make sure that element was... remembered differently
i think irene was a feral bitch who drank and partied and loved because she had love to give and then she was turned into a chaste matron/maiden post her death and everyone who ever knew the real her died, meaning no one really knows her because every essense of what made her, her was erased with history

How do you handle the golden lassos in your rewrite? How do they work?
Now that's a really good question!!
If it wasn't obvious, I'm drawing a lot of inspiration from DND and Pathfinder (Second Edition mostly) for all magical related things, including items. I let Irena spawn with a bag of holding (or maybe Vylad gives it to her), and a lot of the best weapons are magically enchanted, that kinda thing.
For Golden Lassos, I decided to combine these two items. (The rope does have better versions of the item that go up to 100 feet but that's neither here nor there)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Essentially the same thing as what they do in MCD, open up an extra dimensional space using golden rope, but these are not nearly as common as they are in canon. Golden Lassos (as they are still called) are usually items reserved exclusively for Lords or those who know how to make the item itself.
So Irena gets maybe one at the start of her journey, and can slowly but surely acquire others, but I'm going to be very sparing with how many I give her. I wanna force characters to actually carry each other around n stuff instead of just Golden Lasso the problem away.
Thanks so much for asking!
