[Zutara AITA post because it sounds so funny to me]

AITA for getting shot by lightning?

So I (17M) and a group of friends (13M Aang), (13F Toph), (17M Sokka), and (15F Katara) went to war against my tyrannical father in order to save the world from dictatorship. We split into three groups and Katara and I were sent to fight my somewhat tyrannical sister. She challenged me to an Agni Kai which resulted in her throwing lightning at Katara. When I noticed, without thinking, I jumped in front of it to save her. Long story short, I almost died but Katara beat my sister and healed me👍. After Aang beat my father and took away his bending for good, I guess he kind of assumed Katara would date him? Anyways, I guess I cast some sort of love spell (?) when I risked my life to save hers without thinking and she said that she liked me and not him in front of our whole friend group. So he got a little pissed and upset because she was supposed to be his “forever girl” (if someone could let me know what that means too that would be great) and then got pissed at me and said I forced her to fall for me. I was just trying to save her life. Now I feel kind of bad because I took away the romance I guess they had. I mean, I’ll admit that I like her too but I never tried to push it on her! Can someone help me understand this mess? Am I the asshole?

“I wanted to kiss you.”

Her voice came out even lower than a whisper, but there it was. Something I’d thought about fleetingly, but had never worked up the nerve to ask.

“In Ba Sing Se?” I asked, my heart skipping a beat as I did.

She exhaled shakily, before nodding.

“When I touched your face, to heal your scar…I felt it. All of the pain you’d been through.”

I froze. She’d explained to me before that one of the many gifts of being a Waterbender (or, one of the many curses, at least in my mind), was that every time she touched someone, it was as if she could feel their energy, by feeling the vibrations of the water in their body.

“…and when I felt that pain, and thought about what you’d told me, about your mother—I just, I realized, I had you all wrong. And I don’t know if I even realized what I was thinking, or doing, but I just, I was holding that water to your scar—and maybe it was how you looked at me, or how close we were standing, but I all of the sudden, it was like there was this voice in my head, one that was screaming at me to kiss you.”

“Why didn’t you?” I asked, before I could think better of it.

“You were there. You tell me.”

She was right—I was there. And from what I remember, almost immediately after—the cavalry came. Iroh and Aang showed up to break us out. And just like that, the moment had passed.

It occurred to me then that maybe, that’s what our imprisonment after the Comet was. One long, drawn out moment, with no one coming to save us—or interrupt us, for that matter.

It was so easy to forget sometimes, with everything that we’d been through, especially those last few weeks, and how I’d gotten to see such an adult side of her—she was only fifteen.

She had her whole life ahead of her, and if things had been different on the day of the Comet—if we hadn’t been thrust into a prison cell together, awaiting certain execution, if we’d hadn’t ever had sex, if whatever unspoken connection we’d had before had remained just that, unspoken, not something we’d acted on … who knew?

I knew what she’d told me, at least, our first few days imprisoned together. How Aang had kissed her, during intermission, when we saw the Ember Island Players. How it wasn’t the first time, and he’d kissed her before. How he told her he thought they would be together after the invasion.

She even told me the response she’d given him. That she was confused, that she had a lot on her mind with the War, that she didn’t know how she was feeling. 

And then came the Comet. 

I’d bit my tongue for weeks. I’d oscillated between wanting to know, and deciding that I would be better off leaving the question of Aang and Katara unanswered. It wasn’t like it mattered anymore, anyway—Aang was dead. It was a moot point.

But still—it lingered. 

Fuck it, I decided.

“What do you think would’ve happened between you two,” I asked, the words spilling out of my mouth before I could think better of it, “if things had gone differently that day?”

She didn’t say anything for a moment.

“What do you mean?” she asked.

“If—if he’d defeated my father. If Aang was alive, if we weren’t in here…do you think…”

My words hung in the air, the implication obvious. Please, Katara. Don’t make me spell this out for you.

Yelena having short hair is making me feel emotionally deranged.

The short blonde hair on Natasha in Infinity War is probably Yelena’s last memory of what her sister looked like.

And, since she was snapped during IW and came back after Nat was gone? I AM NOT OKAY! Now, this is quite possibly the reason why Yelena is rocking the short hair herself.

To see some of Nat in herself. To make Nat proud. To save the world, just like her sestra.

Also, the transition from long to short hair has me thinking Yelena shortened her own ledger, just like Natasha did in IW.

How I imagine the Thunderbolts movie will be like

Bucky: *crying over Steve*

Yelena, thinking: I have to cheer him up

Yelena, thinking: Humor usually helps

Yelena: KNOCK KNOCK

Bucky, through his tears: Who's there?

Yelena: I don't know but certainly not Steve

These shots remind me of Dante Basco's and Mae Whitman's headcanons that one of the greatest obstacles to Zuko and Katara getting together would be their fear of hurting Aang's feelings, since they both respect him so much.

Summary:

Bucky and Yelena meet after years and mend things. They have history together: Yelena managed to escape the Red Room and the Winter Soldier was sent after her.

“Why don’t you try to get some sleep?” I patted on the cot. “Get some rest, we’ll give it a go tomorrow.”

She stopped waterbending. She turned around, narrowing and fixing her gaze right on me.

“I’ve done nothing but rest for the last three weeks,” she spat. And then she laughed.

“Actually, that’s not entirely true, though, is it?” Her voice dripped with venom as she spoke. “You and I have gotten up to plenty of fun, recently. Hell, we might even give your lunatic sister and psychopath of a father an heir from it!”

My face burned. She was so far away from me, in the cell. Ever since I’d told her my theory about the bloodlines, she’d recoiled from my touch, as if she couldn’t stand to be within a few feet of me.

What I would give, just to be close to her again.
