Author's Notes: Oh, bloody hell. FINALLY!! The Muse sure did take her time with this one, what with RL messing up our schedule and the chapter's own difficult challenges. BUT! Thank you for waiting and for checking in from time to time! We hope you enjoy! As always, comments are very welcome and will serve to fuel the Muse to charge on. “Brian,” said Argyll. “I can’t find him anywhere.”
Brian felt his stomach drop. “What?”
He cast an eye around and sure enough, Roger was nowhere to be seen.
“He drifted away after seeing you settle down with your game. We were just in the cards room, doing a few sets and mingling. I was speaking to Lord Trevor and when I turned around he was gone. Now I can’t find him anywhere.”
“No,” said Brian as he moved to the door, the length of his strides growing longer and faster as he and Argyll went from one crowded room of the club to the next, searching.
But Roger was missing.
