Depression in Astrology
Depression is one of the leading issues spread across the world these days. However, we all know that one person who seems to be at the epitome of optimism and can never be even sad for a long time. These happy-go-lucky people are the blessed ones who have no bad aspects in their astrological chart and blessed with resilience to sorrow.
Astrology can be used to determine if and how an individual is prone to depression.
Moon in astrology is associated with feelings and emotions. It governs the subconscious mind, and can have a strong influence on our moods and feelings. It can also help us to connect with our intuition and inner wisdom. It governs our emotions and thoughts and regulates our mental peace and stability.
The following aspects on Moon in an individual's chart can lead to depression or suicidal tendencies :
If the Moon is in close conjunction with any of the malefic planets like Mars, Saturn, Rahu (North Node) or Ketu (South Node) it can lead to some mental traits like : Moon along with Saturn can make a person pessimistic Moon with Rahu can cause OCD. Such individuals might be overly obsessed and want to make it large in life. And if they can't, they might feel hopeless and depressed. Moon with Ketu gives detachment. It causes social disconnection and makes a person feel lonely. Moon with Mars can make a person extremely aggressive and affect their mental health Moon in close conjunction with the sun will get combusted and cause long term frustration in depression.
If Moon is place alone in a house and there are no planets in the houses on either side of it then it may give an individual constant feeling of loneliness and cause depression. This is called as Kendruma Yoga.
If Moon is in 6th or 8th or 12th house - which are considered inauspicious houses, it might cause depression if there is no positive aspects on it.
If the planet owning the sign in the 4th house is afflicted by any means, it might lead to depression in the native
If Moon is placed in between 2 malefic planets then also it can lead to depression
If Rahu (North Node) and Ketu (South Node) are in the 1st and 7th house axis then it might lead to depression if there are no positive aspects on these houses.
Debilitation of moon (Moon in Scorpio) or Combustion of moon (close proximity to Sun) can also cause depression. More about combustion and debilitation of planets here
Unfavorable periods of a planet (Dashas) where the Ascendant sign ruling planet or Moon or Sun is afflicted can cause depression.

Numerology simplified
Numerology is any belief in the divine, mystical relationship between a number and one or more coinciding events. It is also the study of the numerical value of the letters in words, names and ideas. It is often associated with the paranormal, alongside astrology and similar divination arts.
Numerology is the study of the symbolism of numbers. It is believed that the numbers can reveal a lot about a person's character, destiny, and even future. Numerology is often used for personal guidance and self-development.
There are several different numerology systems, but most numerology readings rely on the person's date of birth and name. The date of birth is reduced to a single number, and the letters in the name are also reduced to a number. These numbers are then used to calculate the person's numerology chart.
The numerology chart reveals the person's strengths and weaknesses, as well as their potential for success and happiness. It can also indicate the best time for the person to take action or make important decisions. Numerology can be a valuable tool for understanding oneself and making the most of life.
Numerology deals with analyzing one's Birth Number and the Life Path / Destiny Number. The birth date as a whole including Date, Month and Year can be used to form a Numerology grid which can be interpreted to make precise predictions.
Numerology can be used to make accurate predictions around an individuals nature, career, travel, property, health, debts, speculative gifts. Numerology can be very effective in match making as it gives a fair analysis of the compatibility. The Numerology numbers vary from 1 to 9 and can have 35 combinations in all.
Calculating Birth Number, Destiny Number and Creating Numerology Grid
The Birth Number is the sum of the digits in the birth date. E.g. Birth Number for person born on 5, 14, 23 will be 5.
The Life Path Number or the Destiny Number is the sum of all the digits in the birth date.
Let's consider few birth dates to understand these concepts.
9th September 1993 : 09/09/1993 (MM/DD/YYYY) Here the date is the 9th so the Birth Number is 9 Life Path / Destiny number = Sum of all digits reduced to 1 digit = 9+9+1+9+9+3 = 40 -> 4+0 = 4 Consider a simple numerology grid as this
Tumblr media
Let's put the digits into a Numerology Grid 9/9/1993. If the number is repeated then it needs to be written into the grid multiple times. Starting with the birth date and month - So 9 repeats twice.
Tumblr media
Now the year is 1993. For the grid we just consider the last 2 digits of the year as the 1st 2 digits represents an entire century. So the Grid becomes :
Tumblr media
Now let's check for the Birth Number and Destiny number. As the birth number is same as the birth date - it won't be repeated in the grid again.
The Destiny number is 4 (as calculated at the beginning). So the final numerology grid along with Birth and Destiny number becomes
Tumblr media
2. Birth date : 04-16-2002 (MM/DD/YYYY) Birth number = 1+6 = 7 Destiny number = 4+1+6+2+0+0+2 = 15 -> 1+5 = 6
Tumblr media
3. Birth date : 20-11-1991 Birth Number = 2+0 = 2 (Same as birth date digit so won't be repeated in the grid) Destiny Number = 2+0+1+1+1+9+9+1 = 24 -> 2+4 = 6

Relationship between planets
2 planets can be related to each other in a horoscope in one of the 3 ways :
Conjunction : When 2 planets are in conjunction with each other following the rule listed here For example : Sun at 10 degrees and Moon at 16 degrees i.e separated by 6 degrees
Exchange : When 2 planets are placed in each other's zodiac signs. For example : Saturn in Aries and Mars in Capricorn.
Aspects : Each planet aspects the 7th house from itself. So if there's a planet in the 7th house from itself - they'd be mutually aspecting each other. Special Aspects : In addition to the 7th aspect - Mars, Jupiter and Saturn have got some special aspects. They each aspect 2 additional houses besides the 7th. Mars aspects the 4th and 8th house from itself. Mars is the soldier of the zodiac. it is defensive of the house under it's 4th aspect while attacking the enemies of the house under it's 8th aspect. Jupiter is a natural benefic planet. It's associated with wisdom and is a respected teacher. It has 5th and 9th aspect in addition to the 7th. Whichever house Jupiter is looking with it's 5th aspect, it treats that house with the love similar to the love of a parent for their chil. E.g : Jupiter in the 3rd house - has 5th aspect on the 7th house of spouse - will care for the spouse like a parent. Jupiter's 9th aspect treats that house with a fatherly respect. For e.g Jupiter in the 3rd house will have 9th aspect on the 11th house. 11th house is the house of elder siblings. So the individual will treat his / her elder siblings with utmost respect. Saturn has 3rd as well as 10th aspect along with the 7th. Saturn is a disciplinarian and a Karmic planet. Wherever Saturn aspects with it's 3rd aspect, the individual will have to show courage and discipline towards that house. For e.g. Saturn in the 8th house - aspects 10th house with it's 3rd aspect. So the individual might face challenges in employment and would have to be courageous. Saturn's 10th aspect brings the Karma or act to the forefront with regards to that house. It shows the area where the individual would hustle towards. For e.g if Saturn is in the 8th house - the 10th aspect is on the 5th house - the house of children. So the native might be always pushing their children to do better.

Conjunction of Planets
To know if a planet is conjoined with another planet, we have to consider the Deeptansh assigned value or degree for each planet. The assigned Deeptansh Degree of each planet is :
Sun - 15 degrees
Moon - 12 degree
Mars - 8 degrees
Mercury - 7 degrees
Jupiter - 9 degrees
Venus - 7 degrees
Saturn - 9 degrees
To derive at the conjunction of 2 planets we need to check for the mean value of their deeptansh degree.
For e.g Sun and Moon conjunction degree span will be = (Deeptansh degree (DD) of Sun + Moon) divided by 2
Sun & Moon conjunction span = (DD of Sun + DD of Moon) / 2
Hence the conjunction span of Sun and Moon = (15 + 12) / 2 = 27 / 2 = 13.5
So in a horoscope, if Sun and Moon are at a distance of 0 to 13.5 degree of each other then they are said to be in conjunction or conjoined.
Similarly, the limits of conjunction of Sun and Mercury calculated from Deeptansh = (15 + 7) / 2 = 22/2 = 11 degress. So if the difference between Mercury and Sun placement is <=11 degrees then they are conjunct.
Example : If in a chart the Sun is at 2 degrees and Mercury is at 14 degree then the difference between then is 14-2 = 12 degree which is > 11 degree. Hence they are not in conjunction in this case.
Below is the conjunction limit of different planets as calculated from the deeptansh degrees :
Sun + Moon = 13.5 degrees
Sun + Mars = 11.5 degrees
Sun + Mercury = 9.5 degrees
Sun + Jupiter = 12 degrees
Sun + Venus = 11 degrees
Sun + Saturn = 10.5 degrees
Moon + Mars = 10 degrees
Moon + Mercury = 9.5 degrees
Moon + Jupiter = 10.5 degrees
Moon + Venus = 10 degrees
Moon + Saturn = 10.5 degrees
Mars + Mercury = 7.5 degrees
Mars + Jupiter = 8.5 degrees
Mars + Venus = 7.5 degrees
Mars + Saturn = 8.5 degrees
Mercury + Jupiter = 8 degrees
Mercury + Venus = 7 degrees
Mercury + Saturn = 8 degrees
Jupiter + Venus = 8 degrees
Jupiter + Saturn = 9 degrees
Venus + Saturn = 8 degrees
Hence to study conjunction of 2 planets - we need to look for the distance between them. If the distance is less than or equal to the above values, the 2 planets are in conjunction.
Similarly the degree of combustion of planets is defined as the degree span within which a planet must be in affinity of Sun to be combusted. B
Below are the degree of combustion of each planet :
Mercury : 13 degrees (14 degrees direct, 12 degrees retrograde)
Moon : 12 degrees
Mars : 17 degrees
Venus : 9 degrees (10 degrees direct, 8 degrees retrograde)
Jupiter : 11 degrees
Saturn : 15 degrees

Energy of a Planet in Horoscope
The energy of a planet in a horoscope depends upon the placement of the planet in the chart, the house it is placed in, the relationship with the sign it is placed in and aspects of other planets on it. Depending on the energy of the Planet, it would give different result during it's Dasha (time-period) and transits. Hence, it's of utmost importance to study the energy of the planets in a Horoscope.
Before we look into the energy state of a planet, we need to understand another very important and interesting concept of Vedic astrology i.e the Mool Trikona sign. Mooltrikona sign is the second power placement of the planet in the kundli after exaltation sign. Which means if there is no planet in the exalted state in the chart then look for the placement of planets in the mool trikona sign which is considered very good and then look for the planets in its own house.
For example, Saturn rules Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn represents will discipline, hard work and routine. Aquarius represents subtle hustle and ease at discipline kind of people closer to Saturn characteristics. Hence, Aquarius is the Mool Trikona sign of Saturn. Capricorn will still be called its own sign.
Depending on all the above listed factors, a planet may inhibit one of the following state of energies :
Illuminuous / Enlightened / Proud : When a planet is placed in it's sign of Exaltation or in it's Mool Trikona sign then it is full of energy. Exalted planets give ego. For example, Jupiter placed in Cancer is in exaltation. The exaltation signs of planets are : Sun : Aries Moon : Taurus Mars : Capricorn Mercury : Virgo Venus : Pisces Jupiter : Cancer Saturn : Libra The Mool Trikona signs of planets are : Sun : Leo Moon : Cancer Mars : Aries Mercury : Virgo Venus : Libra Jupiter : Sagittarius Saturn : Aquarius
Stable : When a planet is placed in it's own sign, it is stable. As each planet aspects the 7th house from itself, it imparts that stable energy to that house thus strengthening it. For example : Sun in Leo would have a stable energy and give consistent results. The owned signs of planets are : Sun : Leo Moon : Cancer Mercury : Gemini, Virgo Venus : Taurus, Libra Mars : Aries, Scorpio Jupiter : Sagittarius, Pisces Saturn : Capricorn, Aquarius
Delighted : When a planet is in a close friend's sign it is said to be in delighted. For e.g Saturn and Venus are friendly planets - so Saturn in Taurus (Venus owned sign) will be in delighted state and give good results. E.g : Planet in friendly sign in 5th house will give good results from children, profit from speculative businesses, etc. Venus, Mercury, Saturn are friends. Mars, Jupiter, Sun and Moon are friends.
Silent : When a planet is in it's friend's house but not a fast-friendly house then it's said to be in Silent/quiet state. For e.g. Mercury in Venus owned sign would be in silent mode, Venus being a friendly planet to Mercury.
Neutral : When a planet is in the house owned by a Neutral planet then it's in neutral state. In this state it does not have any energy of it's own but exhibits the energy of the sign it's placed it, given that there is no conjunction or aspect of another planet on it.
Tormented : When a planet is placed in the sign of it's enemy, it's in tormented state. For e.g : Saturn and Sun are bitter enemies. Saturn in Leo would be in tormented state and will give challenges/separation related to that house. For e.g Saturn in 9th house in Leo the person may desert Father/Religion.
Helpless : When a planet is placed in a sign associated with an enemy planet, it's said to be helpless i.e it's not able to do anything. As Jupiter and Saturn are enemies, Jupiter placed in a Capricorn/Aquarius would be helpless.
Wicked : If the 3rd lord exchange positions with any other planet. Or if the planet is in sign of a natural malefic planet then it might lead cause the individual work hard or might give them crooked thoughts (Khalyoga). 3rd house is the house of courage and self-effort. A benefic planet in 3rd house imparts courage while a malefic might impart cowardice. The courage is needed in challenging / scary situations. Any planet which exchanges sign with the 3rd house planet causes Khalyoga. For e.g : 3rd and 4th house lords (Planets owning the signs of 3rd and 4th sign) then challenges are experienced with regards to the 4th house things. Saturn, Mars, Rahu (North Node) and Ketu (South node) are natural malefic. Rahu and Ketu don't have ownership of any sign.
Angry : When a planet is combusted i.e too close to Sun that it gets burned by it's light, it's said to be angry. Combusted planet causes loss of the physical/material things associated with that house. For e.g if 9th lord is combust, it will give separation from father.
Ashamed : When a planet is in 5th house in association with a malefic planet it is said to be in ashamed state. That means it will lead to humiliation atleast once in a lifetime. 5th house is the house of whim. A planet placed in the 5th house alone doesn't give any bad results. It has to be under the aspect of a malefic.
Sad / Depressed : When a planet is placed in an enemy sign or combusted and also aspected by an enemy planet it is said to be in deep sorrow.
Thirsty : When a planet is in a watery sign and aspected by enemy planet it is said to be thirsty.
Debilitated : When a planet is in it's debliitation sign it's weakened. The debliitation sign of planets are : Sun : Libra Moon : Scorpio Mars : Cancer Mercury : Pisces Jupiter : Capricorn Venus : Virgo Saturn : Aries

What is the difference between Western and Vedic Astrology?
Tumblr media
Western astrology is based on the tropical zodiacs while Vedic astrology is based on the sidereal zodiacs. The difference between the tropical and sidereal systems is the point of reference from where the earth starts and ends the revolution around the sun.
The Earth completes one revolution around the sun in 365.5 days - this is the assumption used by the tropical system i.e Western astrology. It is based on the seasons and coincides with the vernal equinox - the first day of spring - 20th March - marks the beginning of first zodiac - Aries. In sidereal system, the fixed stars in the sky are the point of reference. It counts the wobbling effect of earth due to it's own rotation, and revolution around the sun and the fact that the earth is not a perfect sphere. Hence, it won't perfectly complete one cycle in 365.5 days and there will be a slight shift. The effective shift is 1 degree every 72 years. Right now the difference between the tropical and sidereal zodiacs is approximately 24 degree and 10 minutes. As each zodiac spans 30 degrees in a chart, the shift in zodiac signs between Western and Vedic is of 1 sign. So if your sun sign is Gemini as per Western (Tropical) astrology, it would be Taurus (one sign before Gemini) as per Vedic (Sidereal) astrology. In addition to the difference in the diagrammatic representation of the 2 systems - their usages also differ significantly. Both systems are equally valid systems. Vedic astrology is more predictive in nature and is well indicative of the events in an individual's life while Western astrology is more appropriate for behavioral and psychological analysis. It can also be applied to predict financial matters like stock markets.

How to identify cunning people through astrology?
Astrology is often used in psychology to help explain and predict human behavior. Although the two disciplines are not always compatible, astrology can provide valuable insights into why people behave the way they do.
An individual's natal chart, which is a map of the heavens at the time of someone's birth, if interpreted correctly can provide information about his/her personality and potential. It can help explain their traits and can provide insights about the life events.
The 3 main paradigms of a person's individuality - physical body, mind and personality can be determined by knowing their Ascendant(Rising) sign, Moon sign and Sun sign respectively. To add to it, the positioning, strength and aspects of different planets can also detail out certain facets of a personality. For e.g : Mercury will govern a person's intellect and logical mind, Mars would govern the way a person would act, their aggression, passion, etc.
Listed here are the planetary placements to determine the cunning nature from a natal chart :
The Ascendant Lord : Check the placement of the planet which rules the ascendant (rising sign). For e.g if the ascending/rising sign is Taurus, the Ascendant Lord is Venus (Ruling planet of Taurus). If the Ascendant Lord is in one of the hind-sighted signs (Aries, Taurus, Cancer, Sagittarius, Capricorn) then the native (individual whose chart is being interpreted) will have malicious intentions. Even if the Ascendant Lord is placed along-with any other malefic planets (Mars, Saturn, Rahu i.e, North Node, Ketu i.e South Node) then the person could have a ill-disposed nature.
Mars : If Mars is placed opposite to either the Sun or the Moon. If Mars is opposite to the Moon (placed in the 7th House from the Moon) then the individual will be aggressive. He/she could be rough spoken. If the Mars is opposite to the Sun (i.e in the 7th House from the Sun) the person would be extremely spiteful and corrupt.
Mercury : Mercury represents our worldly intelligence. If mercury is in any of the hind-sighted signs i.e Aries, Taurus, Cancer, Sagittarius, Capricorn then that individual would have backstabbing tendencies.
If all of these above 3 clauses are met in a person's chart, beware of this person, they might not be your true friend.
