honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if it were a genuine rose quartz gem.
on homeworld (+ homeworld territories) it is made a point to see the dehumanization and objectification that "lesser" gems go through, as gems are embedded into various different objects (mirrors, combs. walls, some gems are made to be statues) in mass in the series.
considering the large hatred towards rose quartz gems after the assassination of pink diamond, it wouldnt be out of the question for some gems to be forced to take form as structural supports of the human zoo.
Was anybody going to tell me that the Zoo had Rose's Gem inside a pentagram-like Star inside Pink's Hair/a flower that's coming out of the Diamond Symbol?? THIS IS INTENTIONAL, GOD DAMN CREWNIVERSE

Brief Personality: Nova is a eccentric person, he often goes on ramblings about the stars and constellations to anyone he comes across. He is genuinely sweet and caring but is a little odd. He tries to make people happy, even sometimes at his own expense.
Brief Backstory: Nova was born to be in the Circus. Before the war they acted as a clown in many different shows and performances against his will. After the incident, Nova felt incredibly lost. They hadn’t turned and were confused on their objective now that they had none. They started to stare up at the stars at night and formed a connection with them. He began to read and study everything he could about space and the stars, they explain switching as their very own supernova, and that’s why he named himself that. Nova never was on either side of the revolution even after turning, they weren’t made for the horrors of the war and couldn’t perform adequately as a solider. So he instead took care of people, he notably took care of Alexander when he was fighting in the war.
Now Nova is an astronomer and studies the stars for a living. He has able to make a name for himself doing what he loves.
