hey guys so apparently this is a thing a lot of people don't realise but like. if you have had writer's block/ art block for like. six months. a year. two years. that's maybe not a block. that's maybe depression. and you should maybe look into treating the source of the problem instead of just beating yourself up for not being able to write/draw. be kind to yourself and know that your struggle to create isn't based in laziness or a lack of skill or talent.

"Is that my hat?"
Recently I went on my first vacation in two years! Having the time to just sit down, reflect and observe always fills me with motivation to draw.
Sooo... I came back to this little project I've been sitting on for the past couple of months! A little reader insert (or rather my personal interpretation for the character) from the wonderful work of @morning-star-joy ❤
Had some more things cooking up, but I gave up in the end. Compositions with multiple characters interacting with each other feel too difficult for me atm (also man, I really need to draw more men lmao), but I'm working on expanding my portfolio in that area!
For anyone interested (and you SHOULD be interested!), you can read the fic here - a stranger's heart without a home (nsfw)
Thank you for your amazing work! ❤

Illustrations loosely based on "fables from Nicaragua and Guatemala"
Hello!
This is an old college assignment, that unfortunately is not holding up so well as time goes on - but I still have some fond memories of being super proud of how it all came out (especially the first illustration).
I used to NEVER work in color, because I really had no idea how to make it look good - so I would always hand in my artworks with some bullshit explanation as to why it's lineart only haha
But as time went by (and my teacher's patience got thinner) I had to start using color aaand this was my first time doing so!
As you can see, it's still pretty bare so I'm thinking of re-doing it someday to see how much I've improved (in that area at least;;;). Especially because I found out how you can use gradient maps to try out different color palletes when working from b&w - which this illustration is fully based on.
I rememeber heavily relying on reference for this work - I don't know what it was exactly, but I probably copied some of the more detailed elements to save up on time. The deadlines were extremely short for some of these projects, so I scrambled to get anything out haha
But yeah, I'd definitely would like to do better than that, now that I have more experience and time under my belt!

unrelated but also very much related?
these two artworks were made specifically to fill out a page in my portfolio for an assignment wayyy back in uni; and I must admit - they were pretty bland
so I decided to polish them up a bit and uh.. somehow ended up going into two completely different directions with these designs
but they still fit next to each other so they're getting posted together anyway >:)

“if no art makes you feel anything, make your own art and feel something” is too raw of a line to have come from a jenna marbles video of her painting a rainbow/polka dot seahorse saying “it’s seahorse time” on a denim jacket

solar mama
Concept art for a solar punk character in a game that unfortunately never got to be...
Loved this design so much and I still had some sketches laying around - so I decided to polish them up and give this lady the full mockup she deserves ❤
