A lot of people ask for stuff like this, but the issue is that I change up my coloring a lot depending on necessity since I'm still figuring out what I like :v This one was fairly straightforward though, and so a perfect candidate for that.
Shadows are some de-saturated shade in multiply mode that I usually tweak the hue of until arriving at whatever looks nicer for the final piece. I always put a layer of solid color over the whole thing in either hard-light or overlay mode to "harmonize" everything and add a highlight of a similar shade. For DU drow specifically, his skin's reflective color (usually blue) is done in overlay mode most of the time.
I went straight from rough-sketch to linework in this one but I usually do two sketches.
I've gone through so many of your posts and love your style. If you're comfortable or able to (whenever) I would love to see a process video of how you make art <33
Your art is very amazing and I want to see your process
Hi! This is not a process video - but a gif of my process.
process for this 3 pager. tiny images sorry, but i think its interesting to see it laid out big picture like this
theres a couple things looking back on it i would've done differently but still im kinda proud of my finished sketches for this one. sometimes i have to do like 4-5 layers of sketches to nail down the specifics i need but these were more or less one and done. first thought...not best thought but. pretty good thought
had a few people ask about my study process recently.
i don't really have one singular method and kinda like to do things a little differently every time i approach a new artwork. i recorded a timelapse of another quick and rough tony/rdj study i did. i'm quite awful at explaining anything so i hope the timelapse process video and simple breakdown gif below demonstrates what goes on in my brain a little. hope this helps!
