"When broken, this mushroom's typically odourless fronds emit a strongly medicinal aroma." Your fave is Problematic. Useful in all sorts of situations and quests but the shit this little guy stirs. Instantly heals any and all ailments when consumed. A woman nearly kills her mind-addled husband looking for one of these things. But if you restore the husband's memories with it, he goes back to being an abusive old shit. Traumatizes resisting Durges just trying to understand themselves. Lets Shadowheart remember her erased memory of her childhood friend but teaches Shadowheart her friends deadname. Noblestalk transphobic???/j A cool and useful lore and quest item but like they're all So Messy.

Lump of Myconid Flesh

"This sponge-like chunk of myconid flesh gives off a sharp, pungent aroma." Spongy!

Rotten Mushroom

"Though tall and red, this mushroom is covered in fuzzy mould." These guys are EVERYWHERE. Everybody was picking mushrooms before they had to abandon their supplies all across Faerun.

Sovereign Glut

Seeking vengeance on the duergar invaders that destroyed their people, Glut accompanies the player to cleanse the duergar rot. After the invaders are defeated, they ask for the players assistance in wiping out the rival Myconid leader Spaw, who had begrudgingly allowed Glut refuge after their colony was destroyed.

Sovereign Spaw

Ruler of the Myconid colony the player meets in game. They ask for the player's help in eliminating various levels of threat to their colony. From a specific band of duergar that slaughtered the colony's young, to asking them to travel across the lake and bring them the head of the invaders' leader. Rewards the player with buffs, treasure, and accolades as they assist the colony. Despite suffering from invaders, still offers protection to several foreigners. Including the player, deep gnome slave refugees, underdark mushroom merchants, a rival myconid sovereign, and a pair of fungi-studying scholars.

Any thought on running a fungus-only bracket so we could get an actual mushroom winner as well?

It should be obvious from the several lengthy unannounced delays but poll running isn’t really in my wheelhouse right now XD. I’d love to run more but tbh I think it’s more executive function than I have. If anyone else would like to run a mushroom poll just tag me and I’ll gladly boost and reblog the polls! Just running another one, at least right now is a bit much for me.

It’d be hard to determine the line of what counts as “is a mushroom” as well. I feel like it would lead to many arguments that their character is actually totally technically a mushroom too.

But other competitions, like the Real Life Mushrooms or Non-Character Fictional Mushrooms polls I’d brought up in the past would lead to more Clearly Mush competitors.

"Leif is one of the protagonists of Bug Fables, they're a cordyceps fungus inside a moth host. They've been in some other tournaments (notably the graveyard gambit tourney, for zombie characters). There are other cordyceps in Bug Fables but since Leif is a protagonist they're the most qualified for polls in general. They're an ice wizard who uses plural pronouns (we/us/our), has Fungus Autism(m), and their favorite things are food, cute creatures, and card games. I don’t actually know Bug Fables and I never finished Critical Role C2, but the VIBE matching here in the finals is astounding! Wether they're Princess Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender or Obito Uchiha from Naruto any villian is acceptable so long as they're animated.

One. Must be an actual animated villian. Western animation, Eastern animation doesn't matter.

Two. Only those from shows, web series and movies. Anything else must be run by me first

Wh- what’s this? OH MY GOD ITS MOD BIAS WITH THE STEEL CHAIR

EVERYONE WHO HASN’T VOTED YET PLEASEE VOTE FOR MY SON MY BABY BOY STANLEY SPIRITFARER

Please I love himb… so much.. you can see in the submission comments how much love he has.. he is a sweet little boy who loves french fries and sweets and doing drawings for the Spiritfarer. His story is so heartbreaking because he’s just such a sweet innocent little kid.

He had the most submissions of any character by at least three times from the second most submitted. The most commented submission. I thought this whole competition he was the obvious winner. Obviously I should’ve expected Critical Roles advantage just from pure fandom size but god. Stanley my son. My beloved. He’s so perfect.

Everyone in Spiritfarer has a unique hug and eating animation and Stanley full body tackles the player with all of his limbs and sits down to snack so adorably. He’s so so so so so sweet. I love him so much.

Plus, for those of y’all who care about the Integrity of tumblr polls, Stanley IS the last True Mushroom character remaining. Leif is part mushroom and Todd (from Mario) and Caduceus Clay only wear them and have them as part of their motifs and such. Stanley IS mushroom through and through.

I’m only posting on mushroom main because of the severe loss Stanley is suffering right now and even if I had a major effect on the votes, Caduceus could still easily win. I just want them to be close 🥺

I do also love Caduceus, he’s also a sweet boy, but like. I’m sure he’s won several tournaments at this point. We need Stanley a win.

Made by @a-r-finch my last tournament failed to gain traction so lets hope this one does.

Just as important as the hero and villain, the mentor and the student is just as crucial. It's through the mentor the student learns how to be a better hero. So lets so whose relationship is the best.

Rules

The mentor has to actually teach the student. Be it how to fight or life lessons.

If the characters have had multiple portrayals you have to say from which series. There have been plenty of shows and movies with the Ninja Turtles and Master Splinter

Live action, animation and video games all apply.

If we don't reach enough submissions this tournament will end up like the last one. Now lets get it on!
