Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen labored for three days in her apartments in the Sea Dragon Tower of Dragonstone. One month premature, Visenya was a stillborn. The labour had begun when Princess Rhaenyra heard the news from King's Landing, that her father, King Viserys I Targaryen, had died, and that her half-brother, Prince Aegon, had claimed the throne and had been crowned King, despite Rhaenyra having been Viserys' heir.

“She was my only daughter, and they killed her. They stole my crown and murdered my daughter, and they shall answer for it.”

Do you ever think about how Lucerys is Rhaenyra's favourite and Aemond is Alicent's favourite?

Because to Rhaenyra Lucerys is so much like Alicent. A frightened child, afraid of his future and the expectations that are put on him. Anxious and almost cracking under the pressure.

And to Alicent Aemond is so much like Rhaenyra. With the blond hair and the impulsive attitude. Always fighting for what they want and being confident in their abilities.

They both chose the child that reminds them the most of the other.

Anyway, enjoy this little Rhaenicent drawing I made based on the "Eros and psyche" sculpture. It's my first time doing two characters in the same piece LMAO please don't zoom in.

You know the most fucked up thing… you can see Alicent realise Viserys wants her. When he tells her he hopes she doesn’t tell Rhaenyra about their talks, her face collapses. Devastated. she did as her father bade her - went to Viserys but was only the minimum of kind and polite, aware what her father’s plan might be from the moment he told her to put her mother’s dress on, but hoping it would fail if she just didn’t try very hard. After all, she was Rhaenyra’s childhood companion. Viserys watched her grow up. Surely he couldn’t want her. And she shuts down when Viserys touches her, retreating inside herself, never encouraging it. She refuses to be a seducer. But it doesn’t matter… he wants her anyway. And she knows, as soon as he expresses that Rhaenyra might see their meetings as improper, as a betrayal, she understands that he’s seeing her differently. And there’s absolutely nothing she can do about it.

rhaenyra was supposed to succeed her father king viserys but she too was usurped by her younger brother, aegon ii, eventually leading to a war which killed targaryen dragons (a source of targaryen power and magic).

two women usurped from rightful positions leading to two most significant events in asoiaf - the long night and death of dragons.

now we have daenerys stormborn, named heir by viserys (her older brother), who hatched dragons after almost 300 years, strengthened magic across the planet and who'll play an important role in the long night as the azor ahai/ptwp.

Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains… by me. I was so excited to finally finish this piece, I loved the dragon crown design that I came up with, even tho the perspective it's a bit… off. I forgot her braids too, that's for a future drawing maybe. I love book Dany 💕

Idk if this would make any sense from any point of view but. Alicent cannot process her desires and emotions and reactions properly due to the fact that her identity doesn’t exist outside of duty. She cannot process and, hence, act OR get over her love for Rhaenyra, because she has never been taught to do that. Not love, but treat love as a normal emotion that you can operate with and call real. She can’t process her trauma of child marriage, because she doesn’t want to be a child bride or give birth to children or care about them at such a young age, but wanting is not in her vocabulary. Like she says to Otto in ep 9, she never knew what she wanted because her desires were guided by him from the start. She can’t process her marital rape or hate for viserys because she can only love him. There are no words or mechanisms to even contemplate the fact that she was hurt both physically and emotionally because they are all tied to the concepts of bodily autonomy, personal tastes, personal wants. Alicent cannot want consciously, so all of her deep likes and dislikes remain unconscious, and she can’t move on or heal or act on them because then she’d have to go back to the very start and admit that it wasn’t the way she wanted. She’d have to admit that she can want, and that goes against the identity that she’s created for herself. You put that part of the mechanism in, and the mechanism as she knows it falls apart. She loves her children subconsciously (you imbecile). She wants them on the throne first of all because that’s what Otto wants. So it all stays inside of her and makes her life hell. That love for Rhaenyra that is revealed THE MOMENT Rhaenyra tries to make peace. That book page she’s been holding onto for ten years. It would be healthy to move on, but Alicent is incapable of that because moving on is tied to letting go of desire but how can you let go of something you cannot admit that you have?

So you know how in F&B during her time in Maegor’s Holdfast, Alicent begins hating the color green? In the show I think she should go back to wearing blue again. Rejecting both the green and red/black that destroyed her and Rhaenyra’s (and their children’s) lives and retreating to her childhood blue. The blue that represents the time she was happy and with Rhaenyra. Going back to blue because it still means love and happiness to her

I like to think Rhaenyra's headpiece was inspired in something Visenya wore sometime. I'm building my own takes on Valyrian fashion so there might be a little variation on the future, but here we are 💕
