if you have a couple of bucks to spare, consider throwing them to The Indian Residential School Survivor Society (IRSSS). they provide counseling and other forms of support to first nations people who are residential school survivors. this is a list of other charities that support first nations people, this list is a mix of charities and ways to learn more about first nation activism and history, and this is a link to a free online college course called Indigenous Canada

By the way. Before you rush to get a professional diagnosis for a Brain Thing you should really weigh your options. Like do you just want to "prove it" or will this actually give you access to treatment you can't have otherwise? Are the treatment options available worth having the government know you're neurodivergent? Because sometimes it's better to keep things off the record because unfortunately we still live in a very deeply ableist society and you might not want to have more real material oppression stacked against you than you have to
#wish i thought or even knew abt some of this shit now before seeling diagnosis#mom just told me dont think abt it cause she made the appt and set it up#didnt know there could be repurcussions for just getting a diagnosis#now im wondering if it was even worth it#like im happy i know now#like happy its confirmed by a professional so i dont feel stupid or like im lying to myself#but i didnt even realize that the government would then know im autistic and there were cons to getting an official diagnosis#diagnosis can be a privilege but its got its cons too
