Made this for the Solarpunk Aesthetic Week server in a sudden creative fever, so I guess I'll post it here too hh
A relative of mine knows someone who teaches kids, so I'm gonna suggest this as an art project for them! The idea is that students could each make/decorate their own shelf, then put them together to form a hive, which could function as mini lockers in their classrooms. Then, by the end of the school year or something, they could either take their own little shelf home (or exchange them with their peers?), or recycle them into materials for the next class! Hopefully it'll teach them about pollinators too 🐝
Idk how doable this project is really, and its scary to imagine one of my silly designs could actually become something tangible irl. But even so, I'm still excited to try 🥰 (And if anyone else attempts this too, please let me know!!!)

The reason the work you’ve done on how you feel doesn’t seem like it’s working is because you need to do it until it works. It’s never been “this strategy will pull you up” it’s always been “here’s something you can do that will END with you getting out of that hole” the climbing still hurts and the being underground still hurts but that doesn’t mean it’s not working

okay so i totally understand if you dont want to answer thisand sorry its long but. i tend to believe things very strongly and ive realized in the past that it has led me to some bad beliefs and ive rectified most of them (from what i can tell anyway) but ive been told my environmental beliefs are one of the bad things and i cant figure out why. my only guess is because i believe humans are the species harming the earth the most. i feel like this is a proven fact but idk maybe i word it wrong? i dont want to believe something that harms people but i also don't want to stop believing a fact because someone says so yknow? ive heard about solarpunk a while ago and i thought that was what my beliefs were called but ive been told im wrong. you dont have to explain things to me yourself but if you know of any good resources or posts that don't use super difficult language to help correct my thought process then i'd be really grateful. sorry again.
Don't apologize, actually I'd really encourage you to dm me. I have some questions to help me understand why people are saying it is a bad belief.
Sadly, I dropped out of my environmental science program so I am no expert but I can share what I know:
• The human species has directly and indirectly caused the extinction of thousands of species
• Most invasive species are invasive due to being put in the wrong environment by humans
So yes, humans are probably the most damaging species on Earth. But I think the more important question is Why
• Colonization led to the introduction of many invasive species as Europeans brought over their plants (and bugs in some cases) to other parts of the world (Source)
• In order to starve Indigenous people, Buffalo were driven out of their natural habitat (Source)
• There is very few old growth forests left in Canada as most of the native trees were cut down and removed during colonization and for profit. They are currently cutting down the last old growth forests and criminalizing the Indigenous people who fight against it (source)
The answer is always colonization and imperialism. This is worldwide, every part of the Earth is impacted by this legacy of colonialism.
My issue is not when people believe that humans are destructive to the Earth. My issue is when people deny that humans, particularly the Indigenous peoples of the lands are necessary for the preservation of native species. (Source).
The solution to climate change is not the extinction of humans, rather the decolonization of human society and reintegration with the Land.

I had a new "oh, my family were the weird ones" moment recently: it seems no one else's family celebrated Frog Night (the first warm rainy night of spring) by going down to the local vernal pool after dark to help the amphibians safely across the road and listening to the spring peepers. (We'd then go back in daytime later on to observe the egg masses, of course.)
Apparently "Frog Night" as a holiday is a thing my mother invented and not a widely-accepted idea, which is a shame because I've been referring to it as if it was for the past 30 years.

Whenever I see a post talking about how it's okay to steal from huge corporations, when they have shit like self checkout, I always want to jump up and say they have cameras and are collecting your information and you need to be so careful because yeah like they're inflating the prices and running monopolies and price fixing with competitors but everybody is caring about shoplifters more and that's really fucked up, but you also need to consider that Target might be keeping track of every time you don't scan something or intentionally scan it wrong, and just waiting for it to add up to a felony.
Which feels entirely beside the point and almost inappropriate to bring up when the point is that the customer is already a victim of theft, but I feel like there are people encouraging others to do stuff that can absolutely end up with them in jail without mentioning at all that it's a risk.
