The First Flower to Bloom in Spring - Chapter 15: Ivy
The arrival of the parachute had successfully interrupted the fight. Now, the trio’s focus had shifted to the content of the metallic box, and of course the note. Prim’s cheeks turned red with embarrassment. Being scolded by her mentor via parachute was mortifying. And on live TV, too!
“What does it say?” asked Peeta, who seemed relieved that something had put a stop to their argument.
“Haymitch’s yelling at us,” sheepishly replied Prim, handing him the note.
“He’s yelling at you,” corrected Rue with a smile, “I did nothing wrong.”
She felt like rolling her eyes at her friend, but Haymitch’s scolding was too fresh. Sass would have to wait. “At least, he sent us a suturing kit,” she said instead, “now I can stitch up your wound.” In the end, this little parachute was comforting too. It reminded her that their mentor was watching over them in his own grumpy way. And now, she had everything she needed to properly tend to Peeta’s wound.
