Thank you! I’ve calmed down a bit since that first post, I had my hour of stressing and angsting
I have a few ideas for the new version of the scene, so fingers crossed it’ll go better!

It’s pretty terrible, but I’m trying to treat it as an opportunity to redo the scene better. It definitely had flaws I would’ve had to tear apart in editing, so I’m trying to be optimistic. I have done full-rewrite editing before, so I suppose I can do that again :)
Positivity doesn’t come easy for everyone, don’t worry about it. The commiseration helps too :)

Thank you for the support, I really appreciate it! I think I have the central arc of the scene down, I figured it out while writing the deleted version, and I wasn’t sure on how some of it played out, so it shouldn’t be too bad fixing it
And yeah I’ll try to find another place to back it up. I was sure iCloud Drive was reliable

Update: it is not recoverable. There might be a third-party software that can do it but those are notorious for viruses and I don’t trust them unless I can find one someone already knows is good
If anyone has advice for rewriting a scene without feeling immensely sad, please advise. I’m going to try to write it again tomorrow :)

I’m very interested to hear more about your WIPs. My current WIPs are a space fantasy political drama set on a set of seven space stations floating in the void and a short story collection about traumatized fantasy pirates, feel free to check my stuff out if that interests you :)

Hello! My name is Phoenix (though you can also call me Nix). This is my writeblr (and also my main so I occasionally post other stuff here too)!

What I write:
Young adult, science fiction, and fantasy
Currently I have two WIPs
The first WIP is Heroic, a young adult novel about teenage superheroes (no intro post yet)
Second WIP is Quantum Immortality (intro post coming soon), and is a science fiction novel about an amnesiac stuck in a time loop where he dies at the end
My stories pretty much always have LGBTQ+ main characters, and often feature polyamorous relationships
I also write random articles about whatever catches my interest over at Medium, I might share ones on writing here at some point
I occasionally write fanfiction as well, maybe I'll share that here at some point but who knows
What I read:
Honestly not sure how to describe my taste in books, but I like genres like YA, science fiction, fantasy, you name it
I'm a massive fan of the Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir which should tell you all you need to know about me

You know, he really ought to just ask for the man’s name, seeing as it looked like they were probably about to engage in the be all end all of stupid shit together, but it was just such a bad time. Maybe he’d hear Twenari say it, though given that she seemed to have inherited her mother’s wet-blanket temperament, he figured any conversation might be a long time coming.
Eh, whatever.
Pasty—Djek decided that was what the astonishingly pale man’s new name was—was making those odd gestures again, though this time towards the kid, all while maintaining unblinking, night-black eye contact with Djek. Freak.

Yeah Cassiopeia made him sound like a scary man. Cassie’s actually already met him briefly, but seeing as he accidentally almost exposed her as a clone her opinion of him hasn’t improved too much just yet :)

What recurring dreams do they have?
Honestly, for all three of my MCs, I think they’re trauma nightmares.
Belladonna has vivid dreams of being abandoned and cast out by everyone she cares about for her failures. I think Cassiopeia is becoming a more and more frequent figure in those dreams - not because she’s done anything like that, but because Belladonna is really scared she will. Her parents also feature heavily, as does another new figure of her new little sibling.
Cassie has trauma nightmares of Sixth Station, of being beaten and abused and murdered. She sees Cassiopeia’s face in them a lot. Sometimes she’s dragged off to meet Stellaris. Recently, she’s had nightmares of Belladonna turning her in.
Nellie has nightmares of Third Station, and of how Narcissus forced himself on her and drugged her. She has nightmares about going back to him and what he’d do to her. She also is getting recent nightmares about Ricinus and his advances towards her and how he might be just as bad as Narcissus.

Belladonna: Neurotic anxious noblewoman; awkward pathetic failure
Cassie: Buff irreverent clone; will kick ass
Nellie: Kind nosy clone; shy but excited
Narcissus: Arrogant cunty nobleman; absolutely 100% perfect
Ricinus: Dignified cruel father; important station leader
Goldenrod: Manipulative guilt-tripping mother; well-meaning authority figure
Cassiopeia: Cruel refined noblewoman; does what’s necessary
Stellaris: Anxious autistic nobleman; a bit wrong
Rhys: Shy misprint clone; highly confused always
Sel: Anxious brave clone; scared but trying

What is your number one writing hack?
I have been thinking on this ask ever since I got it - this is genuinely a really hard one!
I think the best one I’ve got is actually a research hack for writing - if you can (ie you know someone who knows and they’re chill with it) ask an actual person your questions rather than trying to get everything off google. Now obviously don’t just use your friends as writing resources but like… I have a friend who does HEMA (traditional European sword fighting) and if I ever have sword questions he’s my go-to because he loves talking about that stuff. I have a friend who’s studying biology who I’ll shoot medical questions to sometimes. Asking a real person will get you way more specific and detailed info - and a conversation with your friend on top of it!
If you can’t or don’t want to do that, my next solution (or honestly do both!) would be looking at resources by experts - actual people with a medical condition you’re writing about, real swordfighters, etc.
I hope that helps someone! And if you ever think I can be that friend, feel free to ask me stuff - if I don’t feel qualified, I’ll let you know :)

Ooooh okay these ones are fun ones! For Belladonna, the MC of the Seven Station Chronicles :)
Do they look good in red?
I don’t think red is Belladonna’s colour, honestly. She could pull it off, but I don’t think it would suit her. She usually wears black and white, but if I had to pick another colour for her, I think I’d pick green. I don’t know why, that’s just the vibe she gives me. (Also if she and Narcissus do get married, she’ll be expected to wear red and black so I think it suits the theme.)
Do they agree with the term “guilty pleasure?” Do they have any?
CW for disordered eating
Oh absolutely, in a really worrying sort of way. Belladonna views eating almost anything that isn’t salad as a guilty pleasure. She loves the taste of food and is pretty much always hungry, but she restricts her eating severely because she’s anorexic, so almost any kind of food is a guilty pleasure to her.
