Hailing from the Orl tribe, and childhood friend of Sidurgu Orl, Selique was only 5 years old when their families decided to flee Othard in order to escape the Garleans that invaded their settlement. She had a younger brother named Selizene who at the time was no older than 7 months.
After 5 long years and finally reaching Coerthas, the two families had hope they found a place to live their lives peacefully, only for that hope to be crushed by the Ishgardians. Selique was teaching her younger brother how to hunt only to be found by Temple Knights and returned to the settlement. Along with Sidurgu and her younger brother, the three children were made to watch as men in helmets slaughtered their parents, dark crimson blood staining pure white snow.
After being saved by a man claiming to be a dark knight, Selique left Selizene in the man’s care after realizing she wasn’t strong enough to protect him and being unable to take on the ways of the dark knight as easily as the other two males. Proclaiming herself to be a disgrace of a sister, despite Sidurgu’s and her brother’s desperate pleas, she left the snowy region after her 16th nameday in her quest to become strong in order to protect those she could still save.
Years of wandering Eorzea and discovering her innate ability to wield magic, around her 24th nameday she finally arrived in the city state of Limsa Lominsa. Selique cast aside her tribe name and took up summoning magic as an arcanist, starting what would become her journey of becoming the Warrior of Light.
When her journeys finally took the woman back to Ishgard, she reunited with Sidurgu only to be told that her brother left a few years prior in order to become stronger himself. Selizene left a message with Sidurgu, assuring Selique that he didn’t blame her for the deaths of their parents, and he looks forward to the day that their paths cross so they can show each other the fruits of their journeys.
