The Need to Talk About It

So… I’ve been studying obsesive compulsive disorders for my mental health class.  You know, its not the same thing to think you know whats happening with you and realize whats really happening. Dont get me wrong, Im no doctor, but this things messed up with your head either way.

I have a BA in social sciences, now Im doing the major on social work, Im no Dr, but I know my way onto people and society behaviors.  Ive been dealing with a compulsive behavior since three or four years ago, lately its being really noticeable to me and to others around me.  I knew long ago what I was dealing with, google take care of that for me.  Here’s the thing, I have trichotillomania, i pull out my hair when im in distress or anxious and now, four years later, i have a little bald spot in my head, caused by me; plus it gives me headaches from time to time.

I know my way around, I thought I knew what was going on, I thought I had it under control, I mean I thought it was under control.  I dont know if being able to learn about in a scientific way was a good idea or the worst idea ever.  Now im having all these thoughts about the need to talk about it with a professional, you know, Do I have to get a psychologist? Cuz im thinking that there is some traumatic experience these past five years were I could’nt deal with and leave a freaking compulsive disorder so I had the obligation to deal with it.  Then theres the thought of being a little crazy, or that I will be treated with pills (i dont know what for), or the thought of having major disorders like depresion.  There is a lot in my mind right now… and all I have is a writing space, because these days, we all seem to be more brave behind the screen.  Theres nobody to talk to, like in a serious way, and I need to get all this out.

"TeAmo" implica abrazar, Abrazar no implica Amar

No se reparten "TeAmo" como si fueran abrazos.... y es que hemos tomado la costumbre de restarle valor a las palabras, mucho más nosotros, los boricuas. Si, ni los números valen lo mismo, o es que no se dan cuenta que cada vez que llaman alguien tres veces corridas sin contestar luego le reprochamos "porqué razón no contestó nuestras mil llamadas"?!. O las veces que se cae alguien y de repente "se mató"! o cuando cuando nos ponemos "verde" del hambre...... eso es lo de menos, lo acepto, inclusó me hago partede este mar de exageraciones si ya son parte de nuestra sociedad. Pero que nunca se regalen los "TeAmo" como si fueran abrazos, el abrazo es para todos y todas, todos nos nerecemos el abrazo de todos, que mejor muestra de humildad y humanidad? Pero me niego a regalar "TeAmo" como si fueran abrazos, me niego a que pierda el gran valor que encierra decirle a una persona que le amas, que compromiso nos hechamos; razón suficiente para no regalarlos como si fueran abrazos. Me niego a que un "TeAmo" se convierta en un facsimile rasonable para un "TeQuieroDemasiado" o "TeQuieroMuchoPorAhora", hasta que llegue a ser tan insípido como un saludo a media noche. Acaso no nos hemos dado cuenta que al decir "TeAmo" regalamos una parte de nuestra escencia, cedemos de nuestro espacio, de nuestra vida, de nuestra existencia......
