While training her to not be afraid of all my woodworking noises, she found this super interesting wood shaving. And what better way to let her know all is good and safe than some playtime close to all the scary equipment 😊
In darkness we wait - we wait for all things bright; for life and light. We stand so anxious upon this ground; trembling - there is no light to be found. But rest assured, this is fate; all things will illuminate. And when that ray of light appear; there is no trace of this thing we call fear.
One thing that didn’t even cross my mind when I started my own small artisan business - where I handmake every creation from my little studio apartment - were all the different scents I would be living with! While working on this giga chessboard, the slightly peculiar smell of Ash dust has been my daily aromatherapy. In these two jars, I’ve purposely ”made” and collected dust from off-cuts of the same Walnut (dark) and Ash (light) that the chessboard is made from; to keep consistency in coloration. I use this dust (with fixatives) for minute corrections and other detailing. I feel there’s an analogy here… Life isn’t perfect, but it’s fixable. Mayhaps.
