How many different au’s can I submit as an artist and for one au how many pieces can I send max?

We'll ask people to restrict themselves to two AUs, and in cases when they submit two aus, you'll designate one as your primary AU. We'll make sure that everyone gets at least one writer before you'll be assigned two writers, and if we end up with a shortage of writers (so people have to double-up on assignments), you might go without a writer for your secondary au.

However, there is no maximum for the amount of pieces that you can submit as one au! We ask that they are all to a high standard of quality— we'd rather three high-quality pieces than ten pieces you just dashed off! And if you submit something like 20 scenes, we might add a note that a writer doesn't necessarily have to depict all 20 scenes, to aid in making sure that everybody gets a writer. (But probably if a writer wants to sign up for your art with 20 scenes, they want to depict the 20 scenes, so.)

am I allowed to submit a fiber art work? like something crocheted?

We are open to various forms of textile art, as long as they're inspiring and well-photographed! Our criteria is that it needs to be an AU and something that can inspire 5k of fic at a minimum. So for example, just a crochet version of a standard character design wouldn't work. But if it's clearly an AU of some kind and it comes with details or poses that would inspire a writer to work— absolutely.

We want it to be something that gets the gears turning in a writer's head. If you are unsure, you can always contact the mods once the discord opens and describe what you have in mind (or show it), and we can tell you if we think that's a fair thing to put up for claims.

Are short comics allowed? I was thinking of trying a comic that follows song lyrics for its story, is that okay or is that too close to the writer's half?

Comics are absolutely allowed, and lyric comics are totally allowed! Something like this (TMA spoilers) came to mind as an example of a lyric comic, and that would definitely work. (And ooo we're interested to see what you bring!)

I don't think I'll be able to commit to writing a piece for something like this (yet!! maybe another time), but I really enjoy editing/proofreading, is it possible to only sign up as a beta reader?

It is absolutely possible to sign up as a beta reader! Beta readers will be able to claim works and be added to teams in early June!

i have a hermitcraft crossover idea, but i'm not sure if any writers will know the other fandom, and i don't want to lose the anonymity of it... can i ask for you guys to ask if any writers looking to participate in this event know about Murdoch Mysteries?

Can we sign up with multiple different art mediums? Like if we sign up with two different au pieces can one be digital while the other is traditional?

Yes, I think that would be fine! You would have to follow the directions for submitting multiple pieces (designate one as a "primary" so we can make sure that everyone gets a writer before someone is assigned two writers), but I see no issues with submitting multiple mediums.

Can one sign up as both a writer and artist?

Absolutely! We have several people planning on doing both!

MCYT Drabble Exchange: Overview and Rules

Do you like writing? Do you like Minecraft youtubers? Do you, perhaps, like writing about Minecraft youtubers? Well, we do too! Only problem is, we often stay up late wagging our fists at a half-finished document, cursing the fact that writing is hard, life is busy and there's just not enough time in the day to sit down and make a good fic. Well, if you’re looking for a quick little block people centered writing challenge, then boy, do we have just the mini-event for you!

Welcome everyone to the 2024 (first ever!) MCYT Drabble Exchange!

TIMELINE: May 6th - sign ups open May 17th - sign ups close May 24th - all assignments sent May 25-26th - creation and posting period

RULES: 1. As per Tumblr and AO3 TOS, you must be over 13 to participate. 2. You agree to create a work of exactly 100 words by the given deadline, or contact a mod on Tumblr for your giftee to be reassigned. 3. You agree to abide by your giftee’s DNW. 4. Your work must focus on at least one requested character, but can include non requested characters. 5. All works must be MCYT-centric. 6. This is a 13+ exchange, there is no NSFW allowed. This applies to sexual content as well as extreme (e-rated) gore. 7. Make your gift in good faith - something that you think your giftee would like. 8. All violent/dark/triggering topics must be tagged appropriately. 9. No AI generated content.

POSTING: You can post your work to Tumblr or AO3, we don’t mind either! We do however require you make a Tumblr post tagging both this blog and your giftee. We have an AO3 Collection! Works posted to the collection might take a while to show up, so please don’t panic if you don't see yours! They need to be manually accepted.

So, what is a drabble?  A drabble is a written work made up of exactly 100 words. Typically viewed as a challenge, drabbles are often meant to test a writer’s skill in brevity, seeing how efficiently they can communicate emotions or ideas through such tight restrictions. For this event, we are using this unique format to bring the joy of MCYT into the world! Think, how would a lighthearted interaction between Tubbo and Tommy play out? How many insults could Grian hurl at Jimmy? How much emotion can you squeeze out of QSMP Jaiden if you’ve only got her in your little writer hands for 100 words? For this event, we encourage you to be creative, try some new things, and most importantly, have fun!   (To get a feel of what you’re working with, keep in mind that the previous paragraph has a word count of 120, twenty words over your limit!)

Are violent/triggering topics allowed? As MCYT content can often include violence, character death, murder games, and other such themes, we do allow them. However those are opt-in - if your giftee hasn’t asked for it, then don’t write it. If you do end up writing about these topics, make sure to tag appropriately! 

What if I can’t finish on time? Contact us on this blog as soon as possible! A pinch hit will be sent out, and your giftee will be reassigned. If you do endup requesting a pinch hit, you will still get your own gift!

How will the matches be made? After the sign ups are done, the event mods will match everyone to ensure everyone gets to write what they signed up for! Once matches are made, you will receive your assignment via Tumblr DMs.

Can I make more than one gift? Of course! As long as it complies with your giftee’s requests you’re welcome to write as many drabbles as your heart desires!
