I should’ve done this before but better late than never. Here’s a list of upcoming essays I plan on doing this year.
Warriors Part Four and Five: Four shouldn’t take too long but five… we’ll see.
A relatively short post about Warriors cover artists: This one may come out before part five since it shouldn’t take long at all. No rereading and quote searching for this one.
Amygdala Addendum: The big one. I know a lot of yall are waiting for this and trust me, it will be out this year. Tbh, I find Amygdala unpleasant. It’s not fun to rip on like Fourth Wing or Warriors. It’s just pretentious, long, and boring. But there’s a lot of writing lessons to be learned from it. The addendum is very long already but I realized recently that I need to re-read the book in order to provide a more accurate and thorough analysis so… it’s gonna take a bit
Wereworld 6: War of the Werelords: The review for the final book of Wereworld shouldn’t take long at all. The Wereworld reviews are nice pallet cleansers from the hell I put myself through.
Bendy and the Ink Machine: Last year, on a whim, I played the Bendy games and had a blast. I really like the story and I want to talk about it. This one is already partially done. I already completed my analysis of both games. I already read the books Dreams Come to Life and The Lost Ones. All I have to do now is read Fade to Black (which came out whilst I was writing the post lol) and write the reviews for the books. When the new Bendy game comes out, I’ll talk about that in a different post (if I have anything to say about it).
The Dragons of Requiem series MEGA review: The next big project is about a book series no one cares about written by an indie author no one has heard of. Daniel Arenson is an author I’ve been fascinated by for years now. I’ve always wanted to do a trilogy by trilogy breakdown of his work, similar to how I’m doing the Warriors series. But unlike Warriors, I absolutely hate the Requiem series. They’re bad. Not Fourth Wing bad, but bad nonetheless. They’re fascinatingly bad and I have a lot to say. Part one of this may be out near the end of the year.
Beastars part two: Okay so this one will take a LONG time to get out. I highly doubt it will be out this year at all. It most definitely won’t be out before season three of the anime lol. Arc two is my favorite arc in the series and I want to do it justice. So yeah don’t expect this one anytime soon.
Oh and Onyx Storm: When the book comes out, I’ll do a review when I can get my hands on a library copy. Like hell I’m giving Yarros money.
My reviews/essays/ramblings are very long as you know so it takes a lot of time for me to get through them. Plus I’m working on a novel which is a bigger priority. And my depression came back so that also slows down the process. Regardless, this is the plan. I’m glad people enjoy my unhinged ramblings. It’s motivating :)

I swear these Warrior mega reviews are taking years off my life. Part three is so long that it started to lag my browser. Part three was supposed to cover A Vision of Shadows and The Broken Code but I underestimated how much I had to say about AVoS so the review series is now five parts long 😞. These cat books are going to be the death of me. Part three will be out next but I have to reread Squirrelflight’s Hope and the novellas so… give me a minute.

Alright, Iron Flame is back up! It’s longer now. I had way more to add than I thought. My eyes hurt…
Here's a bingo card for Onyx Storm that I made for the hell of it.

I’m reblogging to clear up something.
The stuff about the blu-ray DRM is not correct. The DRM prevents you from downloading and ripping the discs onto your computer. The digital code that comes with a lot of modern discs are not for download, they’re for streaming which is dumb and cringe. I throw that shit out because it useless and defeats the point of buying a disc. However, you can still watch the physical disc on a player or on your computer off-line. It would be counterintuitive to sell a disc that can only be used online, but gaming is going down that route so… 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️
As for movies, if the discs were online only NO ONE would buy them. Too many dvd/blu ray players are offline for that to be a wise decision on the maker’s and the seller’s ends. I have an old player and my dvds and blu rays play just fine. However, if you want to backup your collection digitally, the DRM prevents that which sucks for preservation (which is what I think nyancrimew was trying to say.) You can lose or break your disc and if that happens, you wouldn’t have a backup. It sucks. Streaming sucks in general. Piracy is perfectly fine, moral, and just imo.
I just wanted to clear that up.
Adding a little update. 4K ultra hd blu rays do have DRM that is not compatible with some newer computers. The problem stems from the chips on the computer. Link below.
My advice: get a player. Normal blu ray players are pretty cheap now and you can find a bunch of them in thrift stores. Don’t get 4k hd blu rays. You’ll need a different (pricier) player for those and they’re not worth it tbh. You do not need online access to watch blu rays, dvds, or 4K hds. Just the player and a tv :)
People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.
For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.
The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.
So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.

Well, I wasn’t going to read Iron Flame but my library has the book available and I need something to listen to at work so… expect a review someday. There’s some issues I didn’t talk about in the Fourth Wing review. I have a lot to say. This series is a masterclass in how not to write. They’re exceedingly boring but at least they’re fun to rip into.

Surprise! More Warriors crap.
I’ve been thinking about Mapleshade lately and decided that I needed to let out my feelings. Mapleshade’s Vengeance is a bad book. Mapleshade is a wasted character oozing with missed potential, like all Warriors villains. Here’s my addendum for part one of Maya’s Descent into Madness Warriors Mega Reviews.
Parts three and four are in the works. They’ll be out whenever.

I got two new posts for ya!
First, my books of the year. Most of it is Warrior Cats. These damn cat books really fucked me up this year. I’m glad to be done with them.
And, speaking of Warrior Cats… PART TWO IS OUT! Yay! What a pain in the ass this was! I had to rewrite the whole thing because my phone fucked up and deleted it. I’m so glad I got it out before the end of the year. Parts three and four shouldn’t take as long (crosses fingers). I hope y’all enjoy :)

Merry Christmas. Here’s a review I’ve been working on for awhile. It’s more of a discussion about the mania surrounding Fourth Wing and the response to that mania. All of that is more interesting than the book itself. Fourth Wing is the laziest sack of shit I’ve read in a long while. I DNF’d around 42% of the way through once I realized there was no plot. Hated this book. What a way to end the year 😒
Update: I made a sequel!

I completely forgot I requested a code for Blue Sky. So now I have this. I’m probably not going to use it too often, but hey! If you got a Blue Sky and you want to follow me, here ya go!
I don’t know what to do with it. I guess I’ll post my art. Idk

I saw you Amygdala review and really enjoyed the very critical view on the book! (I am actually reading about your wereseries reviews now too!) I could delve into the things I agreed on (I did but then I accidently reloaded the page and lost all of the comment I was writing L to me). Regardless, I am an aspiring writer who enjoyed that book (the worldbuilding to be more exact) but also saw the incredible faults and poor execution of the topic being portrayed. I wanted to ask if you had any advice about how one might avoid that kind of poor writing? I admit I am not very good at what I do but purple prose isn't really my problem, more structure and trying to keep equal footing on different ideals and ideology giving them both fair review of both pros and cons. Any tips would help immensely not matter how short or small. I find you have such a good way of articulating what I was trying to express myself in your review and thought you'd be a good person to ask this kind of question to. Thank you!
Firstly, thank you! Im glad you like my stuff. Secondly, as for your question, I say just think out the plot throughly. The biggest overall problem with Amygdala is that Fennah tries to do too much and say too much without (seemingly) understanding what he wrote. I don’t think he intended to make Locket pro-eugenics (god, I hope not), but he did which makes him look bad. He intended for Methusa to be smart and calculating but she’s not. Her actions, such as assuming winning one debate would somehow change how her entire culture functioned, makes her look stupid. That is not what he intended but that is what he wrote. If he spent more time fleshing out and ironing out the issues within his plot and characters, he could’ve had a more solid story.
All in all, my advice is to scrutinize the living hell out of your plot and make sure it’s iron tight. Ask yourself questions as you’re drafting. “Does this make sense? Why would this character do/say this at this point? Is it within their character to act this way? Does this scene flow into the next? Does this plot point make sense?” Etc.
Also get another person to look over your manuscript. Once you’re on that second draft, iron out any wrinkles, and then get another set of eyes to scan over what you wrote. Developmental editors are wonderful. A good editor can really help you out. Writing is both isolating and collaborative. Having that second opinion is vital to your growth as an author. Fennah clearly did not have that second person and thus he wrote the mess that he wrote.
Do be aware that I am just one person and my word on writing is not law. This is just how I approach things. I recommend talking to others and getting their takes.

This is an old review. I’ve been rereading my favorite book series Wereworld off and on in between projects. I felt like I should post something since it will be a bit before I finish my other posts.
This is book two. I already posted book one. I love this series despite its flaws. They’re so fun to read. I recommend them if you can find them.

I have another super long post for y’all. It’s just me gushing about Beastars. Beastars is something I hold very near and dear to my heart and I wanted to share that love with the wider world. It’s not perfect by any means but by god the good stuff is super good. This is only part one. It took me forever to write this so it will be a long while before part two is out. Enjoy for now.
