Doing all the things to get these bodies back to 100%! 👊🏽 @drewbrophy still recovering from a medically induced paralysis and me from an 8 year autoimmune. These “astronaut suits” we call bodies need to be working for us to deliver the creative talents that drive us. ☀️ For many years I didn’t believe in piercing the skin so I avoided IV Therapy. But I finally got over that and decided to try it. 🙃 Still not sure how much of a difference IV therapy makes but I’m experimenting with it. It appears to be helping my swollen thyroid go down. Nothing else I’ve tried has worked so far but I see this is creating some healing for me. Time will tell if the IV therapy helps us. Have you done it? We’re on a journey of growth together. Great visit with nieces, nephews, sisters. And to see my mom for the first time in over a year! 💕 We were able to “break her out” of the nursing home for a slumber party night 😃 thanks to my niece @soph_marx our own personal family nurse 😀 and my sis @christinebraverman who is a devoted caretaker to mom. 🙏🙏🙏 It was hard it say goodbye, I never know if it’s the last time I’ll see mom. Do we ever really know how much time we have?! 💫 Constantly reminding myself to enjoy every moment with everyone. It’s so easy to take time for granted. 💫 I feel grateful for my family. Grateful to wake up to Drew this Christmas morning! What a difference from last year when he lay on his deathbed in the hospital and we had no idea if or when he would come home. We are so happy to be with family, celebrating another year that we all get to spend together. @drewbrophy always says “When you’re in your last hours, you don’t think about things. We came out with these Sherpa Fleece blankets last year with Drew’s art on them. When he was in the hospital we always had one of his blankets on his hospital bed to make it feel more like home. I never thought these blankets would be so loved by so many! But they are - we get many orders for two and three at a time. Feeling appreciation 💕 for our team! They keep everything going for the Brophy Art Gallery. We celebrated Christmas together last night. I surprised everyone by getting a limo! It was fun. 🔥 We enjoyed the lookout over Dana Point Harbor. Then dinner at The Chart House. One year ago on Thanksgiving Day I stood outside Drew's hospital window, said "so long" (we refused to say “goodbye”) and waited as he underwent surgery, intubated on a ventilator. Seven hours later I left that parking lot, hungry, dehydrated, deflated. I drove home, shell shocked and sad, not knowing what would happen next. 🤕 It would be four weeks before Drew "woke up" from the coma and then more months before he could speak, eat or even move his legs again. We are told by numerous docs, nurses and medical professionals that they don't know of one other person in the USA that survived that length of time on a vent and in a coma. I'm sure someone out there did, but we have not found them yet. We know it's more than a MIRACLE that @drewbrophy is here with us today. It's his destiny. It was both of our paths to be taken together. And he has a story to tell that will inspire many. 💫 We have so much to sort out. So much trauma to release from that time period. So much to integrate. 💫 Today, we count our many blessings. We appreciate the family and friends who were there for us through this tough time. 💫 We honor the nurses, respiratory therapists, PT's and others who believed in the possibility of Drew's recovery and fought for Drew to not just come back to life, but to also beat the vent, the oxygen and the coma-induced paralysis and be able to LIVE again. 💪🏽 Every night I reach over and touch his arm, grateful that he's beside me. Every morning, I thank God for his recovery. We are so very thankful for all of you who sent your love, energy and high vibrations - giving Drew the Lifeforce that he needed. When your on your deathbed, you don’t care about things. All you care about are people. 💕 Our trip to a private Art, Music & Healing retreat in Costa Rica fell on the one year mark that Drew was admitted into the hospital and nearly died last year. This retreat was rejuvenating for us both to get through the trauma we are shedding. The weather, five star food and beautiful accommodations were awesome, but it was the PEOPLE that made this retreat so special. When it looks like the world is falling apart around you, find good people who are doing great things and they will uplift and give you hope. There are many out there. 26 years ago today, I found my soul-mate @drewbrophy . 💕 We met at a small dinner party, 2 weeks after I moved to San Clemente from Huntington Beach. I was dating another guy at the time (whom I broke up with the very next day!) 😝 When I first laid eyes on Drew, I felt like I had always known him. He was familiar to me in a way that transcended time and space. The next day I called my bestie Jane and said "The guy I met last night...I'm going to be with him for a long time." Drew and I were inseparable after that. 💫 This photo was taken just hours after we met. We were goofing off with disposable cameras (remember those?!) We look like we spent lifetimes together. We fit together perfectly, like pieces to a puzzle. 🧩 Before Drew, I never thought I'd find true love, because I grew up in a violent house with great dysfunction. I was wrong. Together we created an adventurous life, so much so that it's hard to believe. I'm grateful for every adventure we've had. I cherish memories of our travels, of raising Dylan and Mia. I love the business we built together. 🔥 And I appreciate the gift of wisdom that we both received during the tragic time this year when we almost lost him. Through that tragedy, Drew and I have transformed in a big way, together. We are better people after having survived it; more compassionate, more loving and living in the moment more so than ever before. ☀️ Every morning now when I wake up, I look over at Drew and whisper "thank you God, for not taking him." I feel so much appreciation for him still being here. I can't imagine life without him.
