BLACK WIDOW COMIC LIST: (note; this will not contain all or even most of her comics, but just her most important arcs) So, we're going to ignore all of Tales Of Suspense, and her (albiet brief) stint as Clint's girlfriend in Avengers. You can read it if you want, but Clint be warned that comes off as a total dick. So now, I want you to check out 1970s Amazing Adventures, which is honestly a pretty great portrayal of Natasha, even if it's not the character you'd be used to. It's a great story of her in a more bright-eyed and bushy-tailed naive sort of personality, trying to find her footing after separating from Clint and trying to help others. Next, check out Frank Miller's Daredevil run, which, though Natasha had appeared in Daredevil before this (even co-starring with Matt!), this is where she really starts to blossom character-wise. So, Daredevil #187-190. Then we have Uncanny X-Men #268, which explores Natasha and Wolverine's uncle-niece relationship, then check out the current Wolverine: Madripoor Knights run, which explores what happens right after that comic! Now, we're venturing into more current/recent runs, which, if you don't want to deal with the misogny of older comics, are really great! For this, I recommend: Black Widow (1999) #1-3, which introduce Yelena and her relationship with Natasha. Black Widow (2004) #1 - 6 and Black Widow: Deadly Origin which gives us Natasha's backstory concerning the Red Room that the MCU's Red Room is based on. Now, we have Black Widow: Kiss From A Rose, or Black Widow (2010), which are some of the most heart-wrenching parts of Natasha's backstory yet. I'm not going to spoil anything, but get your tissues ready! Next is Secret Avengers, which, while not very important to her character, is a very fun read nonetheless :) Then, we have the 2012 Winter Soldier run, which explores Bucky and Nat's relationship. Now, I am not a WinterWidow shipper, but this comic really made me understand why some people adore these two. Finally! We're at some personal favourites of mine, Black Widow (2014), and Black Widow (2019). If you read any Natasha comics, these should be the ones. Not only do they encapsulate Natasha's character perfectly, but it's also a perfect character arc that shows her progression from her 60s personality to her post-Secret Empire one.
