It's crazy to think that Armando would always have women chasing after him for his attention and affection (e.g., Marcela, Claudia Bosch, Karina Larson, Mireya (his old secretary before the arrival of Betty). After once saying to Mario that he would not chase after a women. However, Betty as she was the only one that was able to capture his heart and love which the other women that were in his life were not able to achieve. Armando once he felt that she was slipping away from him (e.g., in the situations with Nicolas and Michel) that he would chase her until she was his because he was not able to deal with the idea of losing the woman that he loves to another man. For example, when Betty was always leaving him to either hang out with Nicolas as her revenge of wanting Armando to feel extreme jealousy and see how far he would take it. Armando would be showing up or calling her house out of desperation to talk to her and if not first thing in the morning he would barge into her office wanting to talk about why she left him. This is the exact man that said he would never chase after a woman but this changes after Betty enters his life.

Can we talk about the eps where Armando starts reading Betty's diaries please bc to me I feel almost like it's his final way of repentance.

Like yes this was a huge violation of her trust obviously but it was really the only way he'd have known not only how deeply Betty had loved him, and the ways she suffered because of her love for him, but also how Long she had loved him for.

This entire time not even at the start and at the height of their relationship did she allow herself to be fully open about her feelings for him. And when she disappears he's able to be manipulated into believing that Betty never cared for him at all.

So him reading this diary, seeing just how much he really hurt her, what she went through for him, is like the last evidence of how Wrong about everything he really was. Not just in the way he treated her, but for not fully appreciating the woman who loved him.

Watching episode 22, and I'm now realizing that one of Betty's many fantasies actually became true. Twice. The first it was a dream come true, and the second, a nightmare come true.

On episode 22, Betty is stuck on an awful double date with Aura Maria, her hookup, and another ugly as hell dude who is angry and disappointed that Betty isn't hot like Aura Maria. After trying a lot to make and keep a convo with this ungrateful rat-looking dude, Betty gives up and starts fantasizing that Armando shows up and asks her to dance. They begin dancing rather close and romantically, and, at this, rat-man gets angry and confronts Armando. Armando punches him and goes back to Betty, who says that he shouldn't have done that, but he tells her how much it bothers him when she's harassed.

Something rather similar happens in real life when Armando fights Román. Armando and Betty are having an intimate moment when Román and his friends show up and begin harassing Betty. Armando gets angry, fights them, and after all that, Betty says he shouldn't have, but he answers that he can't stand it when she's harassed oh to be Betty....

Armando in her imagination is gentlemanly, soft with her, and punches her harasser quickly and is over with it and then the whole scene goes back to only them and their moment of intimacy as if all the anger and violence had evaporated of Armando’s system in that quick hit. Armando feels no pain even though he punched a man in the face and threw him to the floor. Even the red lights of the scene give a rather fantastical element to the fight and the dance. It's quick and the viewer forgets about it immediately because what matters is the dance and the romance.

Armando in real life isn't soft or romantic. He's angry because he got hurt because there was real, prolongued violence. He doesn't speak softly or goes straight back to loving her. He's an actual human who really got angry and actually is in pain from the fight. The scene itself doesn't seem to see violence as something beautiful or romantic. Betty can see it, but she loves it nonetheless because she has always dreamed of him as her savior. How wouldn't she fall face flat in love with him when he straight up brought her fantasy to life?

It gets taken to the horrible extreme with the fight with Nicolás. Once again, Armado is "defending" Betty. Except this time there's nothing remotely romantic. It is Armando taken to his very limit and exposes just how dangerous and violent the whole "defend her honor" could get in a real scenario. It also shows how on many of these occasions with romance stories, this violence doesn't only come from a selfless desire to protect, but also to defend themselves and what they believe is theirs.

I just fond it rather interesting how it started so beautiful and romantic and fantastical, and ended up so brutal and horrible.

Also, I'm sure there could be a wholeeee analysis of how Armando is the stereotype of the "perfect" love interest but twisted in a very dark and human way. Also how ysblf's romance is very organic and not fantastical at all

Why would Armando marry Marcela to secure the vote? Didn’t he already get the presidency because his dad is the founder of the company?

This started when Roberto made Daniel and Armando come up with a plan on how they would run the presidency during the first year and Roberto picked Daniel’s plan because it was more realistic and not Armando’s plan. The only reason Armando was picked as president was because his plan got more votes than Daniel’s, the people that voted for Armando’s plan was his sister, mom, and Marcela. Armando counted on Marcela’s vote to win the presidency. In order to secure her vote, he proposed to her two days before the meeting where they were going to chose the next president and this is how he won the presidency, which is what Daniel believed he did in order to win. Armando being Roberto’s son wasn’t going to get him the position as president because he initially chose Daniel and his plan thus to be the next president. Also, I think Roberto never really had faith in Armando and his capabilities and that’s why Armando always had a fear of letting his father down because Roberto would question him about the movements of the company.

I love seeing how Armando can be bad-tempered and grouchy with everyone (e.g., Patricia, Mario, Marcela, Freddy, etc) but when it comes to Betty, he is the biggest softie. He only cares about what she has to say or do. She is the only person who actually put him in his place and he will not get hurt or offended because he knows that she will always have his best interests at heart and that her intentions are true. Like when he asked her “Do you think I’m neurotic?”. She was completely honest and said “Yes!, but you are just” and he was caught by surprise because I don’t think anyone has ever been that honest with him and he couldn’t be mad at her because he knows she meant well.

As much as I'm yelling about it, the Misunderstandings that happened in Cartagena are done so WELL bc u really can see both sides u can see how it would look suspicious to the board members that Betty has disappeared but u obviously know why she did it and when Nicolas tells her that the situation is getting serious they're not playing they're not gonna take this u can see why she's like well if that's the case just send our lawyers over but u can also see WHY THAT SET OF ALARM BELLS BC THEY WERE WORRIED SHE'D SEND THEM AND EVEN NICOLAS IS LIKE THAT'LL MAKE THINGS WORSE BUT SHE GENUINELY BELIEVES THAT THAT IS THE EASIEST SOLUTION TO GET EVERYTHING OVER WITH

I think even in this moment Armando doesn't fully understand what is really important in his life. When he sees the letter of Calderón in the meeting, he desperately wants to see if anyone else has it as well. He thought of his image first. When Marcela and Margarita enter his office and call him back, he leaves Betty alone. When really he should have cared of his relationship with Betty! And finally no one notices him in the meeting after that, there was no need to come back!

bitch I'd forgotten Marcela had plotted out a scheme to win back Armando when it seemed like Betty was leaving with Michel. Bitch after the breakup. After Armando very clearly told her he was definitely breaking up with her because he was not in love with her anymore and the relationship would only hurt them both. Marcela is seeing, with both her eyes, how Armando is fuming jealous of Michel, for Betty, AND SHE SEES IT AS HER CHANCE, she thinks Armando will finally give up on Betty seeing that he has no chance with her (even tho he told her he didn't have hopes and he wasn't breaking up with her just to try to be back together with Betty) and she's planning to support him be the president of Ecomoda again and therefore win him back. She's planning and willing to continue and perpetuate the vicious circle where she's always there waiting for Armando to get back to her after fucking up, making him feel morally and sentimentally indebted and him knowing she will always be there waiting for him no matter how bad he fucks up. This scene is very special because it highlights the interest that Armando took for Betty very early on in the show, whether he realized it or not. The anxiety, desperation, and stress that Armando was under because the only thing he wanted was to be with Betty. Some context behind this scene: Mario and Armando go to a work event at Color In. Marcela suprisingly shows up at the event that Armando "invited" her to. The mission for the night was for Armando to escape from Marcela so that he can go see Betty who was waiting for him at a discoteque. At the end, Armando was only concerned about how Betty was feeling and not Marcela. This indicates very early on that Betty will and always will be Armando's main priority above anyone else's.
