actually your characters should be pure wish fulfillment and your writing should be entirely self indulgent and it should all be very, incredibly, undeniably horny.

This is basically exactly my process too! Wonderful advice
How do u get ur art to look like that?Like…rly, it’s so painterly but still has the saturation that I think makes digital art interesting. I’m getting into digital art but all my stuff looks so flat T-T any tips?
i'd say my #1 tip to making expressive art is to never over-polish! imperfection is good in expressive art. it's more raw. draw with your feelings, not what looks good in the technical sense. make it look like how your soul sees rather than how your eyes see. does that make sense? i hope that makes sense.
i feel the same way when it comes to colors. i try to make it look like what it FEELS like, rather than what it looks like. so the more intense and freeform the colors and shapes are, the better. anything to exaggerate the emotion.
maybe another tip i would give you to doing this is to always go back to your initial sketch layer every once in awhile when painting. it can be easy to get lost in trying to make it look polished and clean, but the sketch layer is always there to remind you what the piece felt like when you first put feeling into the page. i think those initial markings always reveal a lot of the original energy and care that birthed the desire to make the drawing in the first place, so it's always worth returning to.
so basically: 1. dont over polish 2. draw how you feel not how you see 3.when you get lost, chase down the feeling you started with and capture it again.
hope this helps!!

should probably explain their dynamic a little bit. they are both uni students (computer science) with a strong artistic streak, writing for Laurie and visual art for Adrianne, but neither wanted to pursue that as their long-term career option. Laurie has already spent 3 years in a different uni studying philology and realised she isn't passionate enough about it to find a stable job in the field which would require a higher degree than just bachelor's (and she missed math). she isn't particularly passionate about anything, often jumping from one hobby to the next to fill out her days. outwardly, she isn't much bothered by this, inwardly, it's unclear. she is afraid of not finishing uni fast enough as she would be 28 by the time she gets her degree with little job experience. so she lives quite pragmatically but pursues easy fun where she can get it. she is not comfortable with attachment and strong emotions and her little comfort zone of complete self-sufficiency is very alluring to Adrianne who is basically the opposite in every regard. she is strongly passionate about her love for art, needs strong connections with others to thrive and prefers letting emotions consume her, borderline extreme sensitivity that although lets her enjoy life on a deeper level than Laurie, also makes her wish for that neutral detachedness which Laurie carries herself by so lightly. they are often assigned to do projects together and, regardless of their apparently opposing traits share a plethora of common interests and intellectual curiosity that keep them talking. they are curious about each other but not immediately compatible due to Laurie's aloofness and Adrianne's intensity. attraction exists but whether it's enough to keep their budding friendship/relationship afloat or if they'll just crash and burn eventually, is very much unclear, mostly depending on how much Laurie is willing to find the courage to engage with Adrianne's intensity EDIT: felt like i missed mentioning they do care about one another, there is just a difference in how both express that, Laurie just not being good at expressing things in general and Adrianne literally not knowing how to live without expressing. they both want to learn to be like the other a little bit, as a little more emotional openness for Laurie and emotional independence for Adrianne would do them both good
