Since I spent time creating Vulcan words just so I can have a petname I liked for T'Lyn to use on Mariner, I thought I'd share for anyone else who cares lmao Read under the cut!
This was mostly for me, since in my head Mari'Lyn doesn't fit the vibe of most Vulcan terms of endearment. I think most terms are very cute and lovey in their reserved way, which is nice, but it doesn't really mesh well with Mariner's commitment issues, and I don't really see T'Lyn being affectionate in a typical (but Vulcan) way. They are both rebels in their own right.
So I started scouring around the Starbase-10's Vulcan dictionary, and I wanted to play on that idea of being a rebel. Turns out there is no official Vulcan word for rebel (at least that I could find). :( Boo.
So I took from words that were similar:
Tehnau- Resist
Tehnaya - Resistance
Cool, now I just have to make it into a descriptor for a person. The word for people/person in Vulcan is Sular. And I saw that a lot of these types of descriptors used -su as a suffix to denote "a person who ___" . So I took the root from both words (Tehna-) and combined it with the prefix and got;
Tehnasu - A person who resists; AKA a Rebel
Awesome! But not quite there. Not romantic enough. I wanted to show some kind of posession in the word.
There isn't a word per say for My however there is a prefix that denotes ownership, that being T' (as seen famously in T'hy'la). Which when added makes T'Tehnasu.
Ugly. Uninspired. Hard to say. Unsexy. So I took the most common Spirk pet name and disected it
Ashayam - Beloved
I split it into two parts; the root Ashaya meaning love and the pulled the suffix -yam implied to be possessive in a specific affectionate context (I know ya is already in Ashaya but it works better imo as the whole syllable rather than just -m). Combined it makes;
Tehnayam - My Rebel (Affectionate)
Beautiful. Sexy. Rolls off the tounge. It kinda has the same vibe as calling someone a bad boy, like a hot rule breaker type. I think it's very fitting and I am really excited to use it in a fic. <3
And if you like it, use it! I'm not claiming ownership, and I'm not gonna get upset at people for using it (even if it's not Mari'Lyn haha). I just love messing with words/language and I wanted to share since Vulcan has so little petnames in it.

Spirk wedding? 👀💒💐💍
So, I don’t really know much about weddings. I’ve only been to a handful, and I’ve never had any plans to get married myself. I actually always thought that in the future humans would probably not really care much about marriage. Mostly because I feel the way we define relationships will take on new shape in the future.
But seeing as we do see people get married in TOS, and that in TNG Picard makes a reference to Sarek’s son’s wedding, I think that Spock and Kirk getting married isn’t an unreasonable assumption.
So here’s how I think it might go down.

Jim: oh! So you wanna scuffle again do you Mr. Spock<3
Spock: Jim, typically the fight only occurs if the marriage is challenged
Kirk: oh…
Kirk oh! Can I ring one of those bell hexagons?
Spock: it is not part of the ceremony for you to do so
Kirk: oh…
Spock: however… I have one in my quarters you may ring if you’d like
*Kirk is rejuvenated*

So I feel like Jim would be kind of indifferent at first, because he’s always struck me as pretty agnostic. I think as far as Jim is concerned they’ve been married since day one. And he’d start off just doing it because he loves making Spock happy. But then once he realizes the pageantry and celebration involved, he’d start getting really into it.
Since Spock is really invested in Vulcan tradition, maybe they’d have the ceremony at Vulcan. Spock would arrange it all to be modest but also very pretty because of his keen eye for fashion and design. It’d be small and sincere with maybe just their close family members (and of course Bones).
But then the reception would be all Jim. They’d host it back in Iowa in a big ol sunflower field. It’d be big and goofy, and the whole town would be involved. All their Starfleet friends would be there. And maybe they’d hold it at night since Jim loves the stars so much.
Again, I don’t know much about weddings, so my apologies if I didn’t quite get the spirit of them.

A little HC post on Scotty x Uhura JUST BECAUSE I DON'T WANT THIS ACCOUNT TO COMPLETELY DIE LOL (this is written in mind for older!Scotty and older!Uhura BUT interpret it however u want ^w^)
- Scotty has never minded having rough, calloused hands, if anything he's taken pride in it! He's an engineer, one who's put in many, many years of hard work. It's a symbol of what he's done- what he does. But.. yet, he can't help but feel a bit self conscious when he finds himself contrasting his own hands to Uhuras. Soft, thin, beautiful- not without a few small notes of their own, but for the most part simply perfect.
And in contrast to his it makes him feel.. well, imperfect, he'd suppose. She deserves a lot better than an old engineer with scars and dents like the ol' Enterprise herself.
But Uhura eventually does notice how his smile shortens, or his grip softens momentarily, or he has to quickly glance elsewhere when they hold hands. And upon finally learning why he does this, his, what he thought to be, unimportant feelings.. she, takes his hands gently into her own, and lifts them to her lips; Offering the most warm of kisses.
"You're perfect, Scotty." Against his hand, Scotty could feel her smile. His cheeks felt a rush of heat that roused a small, bashful wheeze out of him.
"A-ah, I don't know about that, Lass-"
"But you are." Her eyes flicked upwards, and she finally allowed his hands to fall; But intertwined with her own. She stepped forward, their bodies bumping together. "And if I have to tell you every single day I see you? Well, then it'll be a priority one for me." Uhura stood up as high as she could, whispering against his ear in a way that sent tickles up his spine.
"Until you see yourself the way I see you."

"I was listening to the SNW musical sound track and I can't help when listening to Keep Us Connected to think about Uhotty. Uhura sings "My whole life has been "fix this" and save you" and it just brings to mind her meeting Scotty and him being the first person who can fix things for her instead of her fixing them for everyone else and it's so beautifully poetic and I know it's not what the song writers intended but just the use of fixing something metaphors bring to mind Scotty who's always fixing people problems on the Enterprise as well and Uhura being the first person who doesn't ask him for for a miracle."

I know "60s housewives who invented slash fanfiction" has taken on a life of its own as a phrase, but Kirk/Spock didn't really exist until the 70s and THOSE WOMEN HAD JOBS. They were teachers and librarians and bookkeepers and scientists and they damn well spent their own money going to conventions, printing zines, buying fanart and making fandom happen. Put some respect on their names.
