PLEASE REPOST
MARCH ON WASHINGTON AND CENTRAL LONDON FOR GAZA
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1:00PM Saturday January 13th, 2024 @ The National Mall 1600 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington DC
12:00PM Saturday January 13th, 2024 in Central London
Please wear a KN-95 mask, and wear layered nondescript clothing and cover your face/hair! I have seen many people use keffiyehs for this. People will be recording and taking pictures!
Dress for cold weather but know marching warms you up quickly, so dress in layers you can remove and carry without uncovering your face and hair. Ideally you should bring a backpack to carry food, water, first aid, ID, etc. It may be good to bring multiple or removable parts of your outfit if you plan on walking from your residence or car.
Tumblr media
Please blur out peoples faces before posting to social media!
Bigotry & hatred will not be tolerated.
Even if you are unable to attend, please reblog and repost the graphics to other social medias to get the word out. You may have a follower or friend who can attend.
If you live outside of DC or Central London: talk to your local organizations! They may be able to organize transportation to this event. For buses to DC, you will likely have to pay a fee, but it is probably going to be cheaper and safer than driving to DC and parking in their $40-$50/hour parking garages. Also look into Amtrak, Greyhound buses, trains, or other means of transportation.

⚠️ Fandom is Moving Forward with Generative AI ⚠️
Tumblr media
As of December 15, Fandom has announced their plans to continue using AI to "enhance" their articles.
In short, they claim to have primarily used AI to
Scan images for "appropriateness" (be that NSFW content or just fitting in with the theme of the show), which still involves scraping tons of images and comparing them to a potentially unethically sourced database. As with all machine learning using images, it is still wildly inaccurate.
Optimizing edits - something they admit is still severely lacking because it can't read tables or variants on simple things like "birthday"
Optimizing SEO - this is clearly what they care most about, since Google likes the "Quick Answers" - as shitty as they were - this means they can continue to dominate the search results and gain more ad revenue.
This is a good time to remember that Fandom is a for-profit company with inverstors, which means their end goal is always to make the most money possible. They don't care about "The Fans" (despite the lip service), and they don't care about the authenticity of user-generated content if they can figure out how to automate the process.
STOP USING FANDOM.
Alternatives/Workarounds:
Indie Wiki Buddy is an extension that will redirect you to non-Fandom versions of wikis if it's in their database.
BreezeWiki displays all Fandom wikis in a clean, ad-free format with just the article content (no links to their forums, autoplay videos, etc)
If you must use Fandom, install UBlock Origin. It's available on all desktop browsers and Firefox Mobile. Hit them where it hurts. And encourage the wiki teams to leave Fandom if they can.
Also, be sure to support independent wikis! You can disable adblockers while on their sites, as they usually have much less obtrusive ads which directly fund server maintenance rather than CEO salaries. Change links on your posts/pages to direct to non-Fandom Wikis (even wiki.gg is better).
Keep information free from corporatization.

you can give seven days of internet connection to someone in gaza for just 6 USD
gazaesims.com is a website dedicated to helping people donate esims for people in gaza. there are multiple options for where to purchase an esim to donate, for the price i listed you want to use nomad esims. you can get a $3 discount by using someone's referral code from the notes of this post. it also will give the referrer credit to buy more esims! (you can only use a referral code on your first purchase) BACKPACKNOMAD is another code to get $3 off your first purchase, it's been working for some people but not others so try out a referral code instead if you can't get it to work. also it took over an hour for the email with my information to come through so don't panic if it doesn't show up right away. (logging back into your nomad account seems to have helped some people get their emails to send!) for subsequent purchases you can use NOMADXMAS23 which gives 20% off until new year's day. (nomad promo codes do not work on plans that are already on sale, unlimited plans, and plans under $5)
edit as of 12/5/23: they have enough airalo! instead they are looking for simly, nomad, and holafly. here is a purchase guide i made to nomad, holafly, and another esim platform known as mogo that has been requested yesterday. please try to prioritize simly, nomad, and holafly right now, instead of airalo. they don't need more airalo.

Post Adventure Sleepover (An Aether/Amber Fic)
Please check end for notes
Aether sighed loudly as he practically fell through the door of his Serenitea pot house. It had been so long since he'd been able to relax properly. Sure there were gaps in his adventure in Sumeru where he could've taken a break, but there was so much going on it practically wasn't an option. He barely slept and the one time he could... he didn't want to think about it.
Aether made his way upstairs to his bedroom and plopped down on his bed. Ohhhh, sweet relief. How he missed his bed. He could fall asleep right here.... But not in his regular clothes adventuring clothes, that just wouldn't be comfortable. Aether got up and began rummaging through his drawers looking for something more comfortable.
He loved his regular clothes, they were one of the few things that connected him with his sister. Unfortunately they weren't the best when it came to sleeping. He found that out the hard way back he camped out in the wild. Now he actually had the place to keep clothes he wasn't wearing. His poor backpack only had so much space.
After looking around for a bit, Aether settled for a simple black sweater and a cropped hoodie on top of that with simple pants. It was comfortable with the added benefit of looking nice.
Maybe now he could finally get some sle-
"AETHER!" A cheerful voice called out from downstairs as the door was swung open.
Aether sighed, as he left his room to go see who it was, though he already had a good idea from her voice alone.
"Up here, Amber," he called down to the excited outrider, who was looking around for her traveler friend.
"Aether! It's me," she said waving to him.
Despite his tiredness, he still smiled at her. Amber's presence made it really hard for Aether to be in a bad mood.
"Hang on, let me come downstairs," he said, doing exactly that.
Right when he got to the bottom Amber ran up and wrapped her arms around him for a massive hug.
"Oof...!" Aether tried his best to hug back while he was being crushed by the outrider's surprising strength. "I missed you too, Amber."
Amber pulled back from the hug, and Aether finally got a good look at her. She had her usual shorts on but instead of her standard uniform she was wearing a large red hoodie matching her usual aesthetic, and of course she had her signature headband with its large red bow resembling bunny ears. Aether loved Amber's bow. It was the most defining trait of the person who had helped him when he had first decided to explore the land of Teyvat. Aether smiled fondly, as he recalled.
Amber, a more mischievous smile on her lips, stared up at Aether, a slight sparkle in her eyes.
"Aeeether...?" She said, still staring.
"Y-yeah?" He answered, slightly nervous at her tone.
"Can you tell me about your adventures, pleeeese?" She said, doing her best puppy dog eyes.
Normally, Aether would be happy to indulge in such a request, especially from Amber, however...
"Sorry, Amber but I'm really tired today. Maybe next time?" He said with an awkward smile, rubbing the back of his head.
"Pleeeease, Aether?" Amber said, puppy dog eyes growing more intense. "I even brought Baron Bunny, see?"
She held up her exploding companion up to eye level.
Aether reconsidered.
"Alright, fine you win this time," Aether sighed, smiling slightly. It really was hard saying "no" to her.
"Yes! Thank you!" Amber hugged Aether again, this time much gentler.
Aether hugged back before motioning to the carpet of the living room of his teapot house.
"How about we sit down and I'll tell you?"
"Okay!"
Amber sat down crossed legged, as Aether sat down next to her.
"So...what'd you want to hear about?" He asked, getting comfortable.
"Hmm..." Amber thought for a moment. "Oh! You didn't tell me everything that you did in Inazuma so how about we start there?"
"Alright, then let's start there."
As Aether talked about his journey through the land of eternity, Amber listened attentively, occasionally interjecting with comments, but making sure never to talk over Aether to hear every word. As he talked about the islands he traversed, and the mighty foes he fought, Amber's eyes sparkled, imagining all the things Aether must have experienced.
Tumblr media
They stayed there, sitting and talking for much of the remainder of the day. The sun dipped below the horizon and soon night came, as Aether wrapped up his current story about how he fought and stand his own against the Raiden Shogun of Inazuma.
"it's getting pretty late," Aether said, standing up and stretching. "How about we end here for now?"
He extended a hand to Amber, which she took and helped her to her feet.
"Aww, but I wanted to hear more," She said with a pout, still holding onto Baron Bunny.
"How about tomorrow, then? I'm still pretty tired," Aether said with a yawn, proving his point.
"Fiiine," Amber said, also visibly tired, before a smile spread across her face. "Wanna have a sleepover right here?"
"Sure, why not?" Aether responded with a chuckle, happy to be able to both hangout and rest with his friend. "I'll go get some pillows and blankets."
Once Aether came back downstairs with the promised blankets and pillows, he saw Amber, already curled up with Baron Bunny, fast asleep on the ground, still in her hoodie. He smiled to himself, hoping it was her excitement that had eventually tired her out, rather than his storytelling. He gently placed a blanket on top of her, careful not to wake her.
After making sure she was comfortable, Aether set down his own blanket and pillow, and he laid down as well, for some well deserved rest.
He looked at Amber one last time, happy that he had someone to talk to and share his adventures with, before he too fell asleep, resting up for another day.
Notes:
This took me longer to write than it should have and I hate that, but better to have it come out eventually I guess. Big thanks to @dingostrash for letting me use his art! Basically what inspired the story more or less. Check him out! He's cool and so is his art! Regardless of how long this took me to write I hope it goes well as my first (tumblr) fic. CC is greatly appreciated! (Please be nice 🙂)

I haven't abandoned this story. I just put it on the back burner for now. The story is just on a small vacation. It is currently out of office. It can't come to the phone right now. It just fell under my bed to sleep with the monsters. It never left my head. It is everywhere - except on paper.

If your plot feels flat, STUDY it! Your story might be lacking...
Stakes - What would happen if the protagonist failed? Would it really be such a bad thing if it happened?
Thematic relevance - Do the events of the story speak to a greater emotional or moral message? Is the conflict resolved in a way that befits the theme?
Urgency - How much time does the protagonist have to complete their goal? Are there multiple factors complicating the situation?
Drive - What motivates the protagonist? Are they an active player in the story, or are they repeatedly getting pushed around by external forces? Could you swap them out for a different character with no impact on the plot? On the flip side, do the other characters have sensible motivations of their own?
Yield - Is there foreshadowing? Do the protagonist's choices have unforeseen consequences down the road? Do they use knowledge or clues from the beginning, to help them in the end? Do they learn things about the other characters that weren't immediately obvious?
