There is saltwater in his eyes and there is a morbid kind of irony, he thinks, in having dedicated a part of his life to his own grave. Jotaro takes it to be an act of mercy — an apology from a universe that had treated him so cruelly, to die in a place that he so treasured, for a child he so loved.
And the ocean takes kindly to a man that had known it and cared for it the way Jotaro did. Its waves sing him their lullaby, enclosing him in a welcoming, seemingly long-awaited embrace.
