Scaramouche (Wanderer) x Reader

This is an occurence after the Archon Quest in Sumeru

An AU where he lost his memories

It was after the traveler and Nahida defeated Scaramouche. He fell unconsious for weeks and in those weeks, you would from time to time visit and help Nahida care for him. You were in your abode when he woke up, though he was not with you but instead he was in the care of Nahida. When Scaramouche – or should I say, the Wanderer – awoke, Nahida explained some stuff to him, not about his past though, she thought that was better for now. She explained only enough to make things make sense for him. While talking, she mentioned your name, that you took care of him aswell.

Days passed and you were aware of the fact that he was finally awake, Nahida went to you with him and introduced him to you properly and on that day you developed a friendship with him.

You were bored and didn't know what to do, until he popped up on your mind and decided to go and find him. He often spent time alone wandering around Sumeru City or doing nothing while Nahida helps out other people. There was this one place he told you he liked and would spend most time in so you decided that place was where you would go to first. Luckily, he was there, sitting alone and seeming to be lost in thought.

You slowly approached him, greeting him with a "hey" as you sat beside him. "Do...you need anything?" he asked. "No," you said in response, "just wanted to spend some time with you, anything wrong with that?" "Huh? Oh! The great Y/n wants to spend time with me! I'm honored to be in your prescence my Almight Queen!" he said using sarcastic tone. You looked at him, one eyebrow raised. You slowly got up to go, "You know what, nevermind" you said with furrowed eyebrows. "W-wait no! haha- I was just- pfft I was- HAHAHA- kidding, hehe, you should've seen the look on your face! Now- hah- sit back down pft- please." You obliged and sat back down, looking at the ground while the two of you were silent.

You wanted to talk and spend time with him, yes, you even thought about what to talk about and played a conversation in your head but now that you were actually here, sat beside him, you completely forgot about all of that, you didn't know what to talk about. He sat, looking at you with curiousity, "So, what do you wanna do? Anything planned?" You forgot what you wanted to do and/or talk about.

"How about.. we just talk? How was your day? What did you do today?" That was how you decided the conversation would go, with the simple how was your day, silently hoping it would lead somewhere. "My day was fine, it went like any other day. I took a walk around Sumeru City today, people were giving me this strange looks, as if they knew me, they've always been giving me these looks, now that I think of it, the looks they were giving me.. it was as if they were scared of me. I remember Nahida mentioning something about my past, Y/N, please tell me, do you know anything about this?" "Yes," you answered, unsure of whether or not you should tell him. You stared at the ground thinking, you decided it is best not to tell him as it has not been a very long time since he has awoken, you're not sure how he would take this. Maybe in the future, you would tell him, or maybe Nahida would. If neither, then on his own? "but it's best I don't tell you, it might be too hard for you, I'm sorry" you continued finally having decided on what to say.

"I deserve to know, don't I? I mean, it's MY life, my past! You can't just keep MY past a secret from me, tell me." he said, angry and confused, he  wanted to know why people were giving him those looks and why you are looking at him like that, did he do something bad? Something so terrible that whenever he went in a room, it would go silent, if not, then murmurs! What exactly did he do? He wanted to know if he could fix this. "No, please trust me, it's best if you did not know why and what happened, maybe in the near future you'll figure it out, but for now, please, don't try anything." You told him.

He looked at you for a second then at the ground. "If you're so keen on not letting me know then.. okay. I trust you, I just can't stand those stares, I'm sorry for the sudden outburst" You looked at him with symphathy, he looked back at you. "Please don't look at me like that, you look stupid you know.." he said in a teasing voice. "Oh- so I'm guessing you aren't mad at me?" You smiled at him. "oH sO Im GuEsSiNg YoU aReNt MaD aT Me?" he responded, mocking you "of course not dumbass, heh if you think it's for the best then I trust you. but uh.. can you atleast tell me a bit? like why they look at me like.. they're scared of me?" he asked. "No," you said frowning at him. "Eh, it was worth a try."

"Oh yeah, there's this new restaurant that has opened recently, have you heard of it?" asked he. Yes, you've heard of it, in fact, you were thinking of going there someday so you instead took this opportunity to go there today, with him. He agreed to go with you, saying, "Yeahh, I'd love to go with you, last one there is a rotten egg!" as he slowly got up to run, you too, got up to run and tried to catch up to him. He was.. childish, but that is one of the reasons why you liked him, his personality.

He got there first, he didn't seem to be tired, you were catching your breath, finally outside the restaurant and about to go in. "Loser," he said as he closed one of his eyes and stook his tongue out. "Let's just go in already," you said, hungry and you also heard the food there was absolutely amazing so you were excited to taste the food.
