An idea I had set in an Eddie survived verse. Where Steve and Eddie become trapped in Upside Down affected Hawkins. A huge fault splitting them from the rest of the gang. Away from everything safe, constantly having to survive creatures warped by the creeping dread. A fighting battle to stay safe in a ever changing environment. But, not so safe for Eddie who is hearing Vecna every night.

falling asleep on eddie
eddie munson x fem!reader
a/n: i am v sleepy today and it gave me this idea.
no warnings! just fluffy ramblings from eddie's pov
eddie doesn't even realize it at first.
you had snuggled up to him when the movie started, and he had to bite his lip to hide how pleased he was. you burrowed yourself against his chest, and his arm instinctively wrapped around your shoulders. he had tried to ignore the fluttering in his stomach or the warmth in his chest, but even he had to admit that this was uncharted territory for the two of you. you've always been somewhat touchy with each other, but this close? and for this long? eddie was a little nervous. what if you could feel how fast his heart was beating? what if you could somehow read his mind -- uncover how strong his feelings for you really are -- and you run as fast as you can in the other direction?
he was eventually able to settle down, relax into the couch, and enjoy the movie.
but now? now he's truly fucked.
you've fallen asleep on him.
eddie's head is swimming. he's overwhelmed with every emotion in existence. he's freaked out by this...oddly intimate situation. he's thinking about how at some point he's going to have to wake you up. what if you get mad at him for letting you fall asleep and you stop hanging out with him? what if you get uncomfortable and embarrassed because of falling asleep on him and stop hanging out with him? what if you realize he's basically watching you sleep and you get creeped out by it and stop hanging out with him?
eddie genuinely doesn't know what he would do if you stopped hanging out with him.
but at the same time he can feel his heart melting at the sight of you -- you face smushed against his chest, your mouth slightly open, your hand gripping the hem of his t-shirt. you're so freaking cute, and you don't even know it. he's constantly overwhelmed by just how fucking adorable you are, but this just takes the cake.
and part of him is...honored?...that you're comfortable enough cuddled against him to be able to fall asleep. he only wants you to be comfortable -- he wants to be your safe space.
his instinct is to reach up, trace the contours of your face with his knuckle so he can feel your soft skin against his. but he's still afraid to wake you, so he opts to gently caress your shoulder with his thumb.
he doesn't know what he did to end up here. to have you...you...the girl of his fucking dreams, nestled against him, but he's grateful.
just then, you shift against him, adjusting your body and burrowing your head against his chest even more, before letting your eyes flutter open.
eddie panics for a moment, all of the terrible outcomes he thought of before flashing through his head. but you let out a soft smile as your gaze finds his. you let out a soft hum.
"mmm, sorry for using you as a pillow," you say, poking him in the stomach. the action slightly tickles him and he can't help but let out a giggle and fidget.
he feels the tension release from his shoulders. you aren't mad or uncomfortable or embarrassed. in fact you feel like you're melting against him even more.
"s'okay," he says as he squeezes your shoulder.
"you're comfy," you say with a playful tone, letting your eyes fall closed for a moment. "how was the rest of the movie?"
eddie's eyes flicker to the tv, where credits are rolling. truth be told, he forgot about the movie entirely, his focus was on you slumbering against him.
"it was alright," he lies with a shrug. you don't catch it because you simply hum in response. a yawn escapes you and you cover it with your hand.
"want me to take you home?" eddie asks out of politeness. he really doesn't want the night to end yet, especially since you don't seem to be in a hurry to leave his embrace.
"nah, i just needed a little cat nap," you explain, and he holds back his sigh of relief. "kinda hungry though. can we order some food?"
eddie can't help but beam, extremely pleased that you don't want to cut the night short.
"sure thing, sleepy," he replies, poking you on the nose and earning a giggle from you. he doesn't make a move to get up, instead pausing for a moment to admire your smiling face.
"what?" you say, and he simply shakes his head. there's a lot eddie wants to say, but right now he's content to just spend the rest of the evening with you.
"nothing," he answers, giving you one last squeeze, before reluctantly letting you go to retrieve the takeout menus from the kitchen drawer.
