FAIR ENOUGH thank you
When did Toyotaro insinuate that Goku was a horrible student?
Insinuate? Nah, he has Goku AND Roshi pretty much outright say it. Chapter 39 basically says that Goku’s fighting technique consists of rushing in with the same moves over and over again and simply relying on getting more power or the next power-up to get him through it. After, Roshi and Goku specifically speak on how Goku’s been a bad student who hasn’t grasped a THING he was taught from Roshi to Korin to Kami to King Kai to Whis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The problem with this is that we’ve SEEN Goku be inventive and creative in combat, time and time again. The anime version of this tournament had it. Toriyama’s manga had it. Goku knows how to use his head and is a very technical fighter. But not according to Toyotaro. And now, Roshi’s admonishment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is also especially insulting as every single one of these teachers (excluding Whis) have commented on how Goku was a remarkable student and a very quick learner, and he always took his lessons to heart. But again, not according to Toyotaro. Goku struggles to learn anything.
Tumblr media
(DUNNO ABOUT LEARNING WELL CUZ ALL I EVER DO IS USE BRUTE FORCE, HERPA DERP!)
Tumblr media
The very next chapter has him saying that he’s always letting everyone down and only NOW are those days over.
Tumblr media
Toyotaro’s views on Goku are not only beyond unflattering, but a fundamental misrepresentation of the character to cater to fandom memes and perception. It’s nuts.Especially when you contrast this with the anime version of things. Roshi admonishes warriors from other universes for relying on pure power and ignoring technique, broadcasting their moves a mile away, etc. He then credits his students, Goku and Krillin, for actually inspiring HIM to train again and keep pushing his limits to their maximum, not simply be complacent. The man is mad disrespectful of this character, with intent.

So like... I need some clarity on something. Toyotaro considers it the best thing he's written? When every source I can find states that Toriyama's still the one writing the manga and Toyotaro is just illustrating it? Like, I just want to get to the bottom of who's bad writing this actually is, because if it's actually Toriyama writing this fundamental misunderstanding of his own damn character, then that's actually worse

Alright. I know it's been a while. Some mental blocks with writing and busy schedules. But I finally finished one more chapter before 2023 was out (I am aware this is getting posted in 2024, even in my own time zone, but that's beside the point). This track is more of a... character chapter, focused mainly on exploring who Kuro is as a person. Alex also gets some characterization moments here as well, albeit mainly in regards to her relationship with Kuro for now (I'll dedicate one more specifically to her later). I wasn't sure exactly where I wanted to end it and after some deliberating with myself, I chose to move a scene I originally wanted to cover with this track into the next one. This facilitated a name change for it. This one is named after the ninth track from Gods of the Earth, a 2008 album by The Sword (who unfortunately disbanded in 2022). I initially heard it via Guitar Hero: Metallica and the closing words of the track have always stuck with me. It's a thematic concept I would like to use properly in the future. Now, take a quick moment to answer this question As the ferry approaches the shore Will you have the coin to pay for your passage Or the courage to take up the oar?
Obviously, the direct reference is to the ferryman of the underworld and if one is prepared to face their end, either by paying their toll or by doing the work themselves. But I think it can also refer to anyone facing a difficult, seemingly impossible task in their life. Are you ready to do what you must to overcome it? It's not always easy, but the reward may just be worth the struggle. OH! And before I forget, this chapter features a character created by a dear friend of mine as a guest! Vincent "Vin" Hawthorne from @needlessexposition!

And here's my last catch-up post. After this, new chapter posts will be brand-new releases. In the previous chapter, Rhea and Mason learned the identity of the group they encountered in the jungle, and now it's time to begin searching for one of the ancient temples of Chaosia.
This chapter introduces quite a few secondary characters, many of which will have larger roles later on, but now the plot's definitely started rolling, so get ready for the ride!

Alright. Time for the next chapter of my week of catching up on Tumblr. This time on deck is Chapter 2 of BattleHeart, and this chapter focuses not on our main protagonist but a supporting protagonist who I honestly ended up coming up with... like as I was finishing Chapter 1. And honestly, Natsuki's been really fun to work on, and I want to try and make good use of her throughout the story.
This is also where I start showing that the various different fighters have their own unique things going on and showing that Kuro's got more under the hood than just raw power. But here you go, have fun with this one!

Today's post is Chapter - or Track - 1 of Song of the Elements. An urban fantasy tale that's gone through many changes to reach the form it has now. A city of dreams, full of strange and wonderful individuals... but does the heart still beat? Does the soul of the city still live? Music is - obviously - a significant factor in this story. It's referenced frequently and is the medium through which the protagonists are going to be trying to reach the hearts of the people. Such to the point that the Tracks (as I will insist on referring to them for this work) are all named after actual songs - some famous, some not, but all had something that stuck out to me lyrically.
This one is named for the opening track of Hammerfall's 2002 album Crimson Thunder. The bit of the lyrics that always stuck with me was just before the second chorus. We dream of a genesis reborn Where our spirits are free Let us choose our own destiny
I'm... definitely a highly individualistic person and I value people's personal freedoms, it's something that's going to reflect in the writing for sure. And yes, the "dream" part of the lyrics is why the story started off with the dream sequence.
OH, and one final thing. Content Warning for some sexually suggestive content near the end of the chapter. It's not explicit, but it's... pretty obvious what the two protagonists are getting up to. ENJOY!

Alright. On to Chapter 2 of Awakening!
A mysterious symbol on the clothing of the group they ran into leaves Rhea with questions, and if there's one place to find answers, it's back home... but what specters will be lying in wait?

Alright, time for more catch-up. This story is Magicka Amarantha, a high-fantasy story set in a world of myth and monsters, complete with its own legends, religions, and I even made a goddamn calendar system for it! One of the things that originally sparked the idea of this story was - I'll admit it - Fairy Tail. I enjoyed the first season of it, and that kind of planted the seeds of this idea. But it was several years before I really had anything set for it. This is definitely going to be a long ride, but I hope you can enjoy it!
A quick content warning: There are some descriptions of mild blood and gore in this chapter, around page 3. Just putting that out there.

Alright, I promised I'd be back later to play more catch-up today. This is Chapter 1 of the shonen-inspired BattleHeart. It's a story that I've had thoughts on for a while, but it was only relatively recently that a solid idea actually came together. Personally, I tend to enjoy tournament arcs in anime, and one that really drove me to put pieces together is the Dark Tournament of YuYu Hakusho. That and some inspiration from the first fight scene of the Seinen manga Kurokami and, well, here we are!

The Prologue and first chapter of my first original work, Chaosian Legends: Awakening. This one has been in the works for quite a long time at this point. I've been hitting it off and on, overcoming blocks, rethinking points of it, and I think I've got a pretty solid idea of what I want to do with the setting. Fun fact: This traces all the way back to my middle school days, and got started with an idea that is admittedly kind of off the wall and fanfiction-y. "What if the Chaos Emeralds had elemental powers?"
And with that, I leave you with this and will probably be back later today to link another chapter off the master list, hopefully able to put out a new chapter by next Monday.

The thing is that high calorie does not always equate to fat. By all accounts I have a rather high calorie diet but have a fairly average weight because I burn a lot of calories at my job.
Yeah, okay, consuming more calories without the sufficient burn-off would make you rotund, plump, obese if you will. But high calorie diets do not in and of themselves equate directly to becoming Fatty McFatFat.

It’s probably because simply building new trucks with AC and rolling them out while taking older trucks out of rotation as new models arrive is more efficient than trying to retrofit old trucks *and* build new ones.

UPS has reached an agreement with the Teamsters union to equip its iconic brown delivery trucks with air conditioning for the first time for new units.
The agreement, announced by UPS on Tuesday, comes as the delivery giant and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters negotiate the terms of a new contract for more than 330,000 U.S. employees. (source)

Heyo, UPSer reporting in. They do have doors, but they are typically seen wide open like in the photo there partly because of the lack of AC. Like, I dunno why they didn’t have AC in the design. It might have been a very old design decision that made some level of sense back when they were first built and they’ve had the design standardized and used in the vehicles for decades. And honestly from what I hear from drivers the cab not having AC isn’t the biggest problem. It’s the lack of ventilation and AC in the *cargo* part of the truck, which is basically a big enclosed metal box with the sun beating down on it all day. It gets *hot* in there and sometimes you might have to spend time re-arranging things in there. Then there’s the big bulk vans, which to my knowledge *do* have cab AC (I’d have to double check that), but you have, again, big enclosed metal box with the sun beating down on it... and those are the trucks that you will literally spend 1-2 hours at a single stop unloading 100-200 packages every day.
