I wanted to give Shinobu a unique interest to help her connect more with the world of KNY, especially when the Taisho period is very famous for marking the rapid industrialization and westernization of Japan (apart from the Meiji Restoration period), particularly in the spreading of European literature and arts. She's incredibly intelligent and I knew her family would try to make their kids get into these subjects since they were doctors/pharmacists and probably had money to do so.

Shinobu should also be allowed to be quirky. I headcanon her as autistic and I wanted to show her neurodivergency in a way that integrates well with her arc. Love her so much.

Hi! I'm currently reading your KNY rewrite (I'm loving it so much by the way!) And I was asking myself a few questions about Rui (not sure if you have answered this before or not sorry) Why did you decide to change him to a girl? Also do you have any drawings of her design? I hope this doesn't come out as rude^^

from what i remember, i wanted to make rui a girl bc there was a significant lack of female demons (much less 12 kizuki demons), and the ones we did get were either killed instantly (mukago) or completely overshadowed by a male counterpart (daki)

for rui specifically, cat's cradle and other traditional string games were usually played by girls + she isnt overshadowed by a male demon in her arc, so i felt she was a good candidate for gender changing

the core part of their characters had not changed even after the changes i have given to uzui, which is that they are his wives

if anything was even remotely altered, it would be their designs and i gave them interests so that they had more chemistry with uzui, nothing too drastic like i did with nezuko and sen lolol
